At First Glance

At first glance he looked like the boy who sat in the back of the class hiding from the world. At first glance you wouldn't know that he had a hard life. You could tell he had people who loved him, but only a few really knew him. That's because they were there from the start, they were there when he built his walls. But I wasn't, most of the time his walls would turn people away, but they drew me closer, closer to Liam Payne.

7. Dinner

I sat next to Liam at the table. My dad at the end and my little sister and Mum in front of us. At first dinner was weird, Liam kept receiving weird glances from my father.

"So Liam you your parents know where you are?" My dad asked. Liam just shook his head.

"Sir I think it's best that they don't know."He said quietly. His whole frame seemed frozen and ready to run, or protect himself. A whole fight or flight response was radiating off of him.

"If you don't mind me asking, why did yeah leave?" My father asked him. Liam looked up into my fathers eyes.

"Because my father would have killed me." He bluntly said. Jenny my little sister got up and walked over to him. She was only 4 years old.

"I don't want you to die." She whimpered clinging onto him. The largest smile grew on his face. He picked her up and sat her on his lap.

"Now Jenny, I'm not going to die any time soon if I can help it. But you know, you have a lovely sister, and lovely parents that are here for you right?" He asked. She nodded. "So if God calls me, and I die you know you need to be strong right? You need to be strong for your sister. Because if she ever loves me as much as I love her, I know she would need someone strong like you." He told her. She looked up at him with her big brown eyes. "Show me those muscles Jenny." He teased. She giggled as she attempted to flex her arms like him. After a few more minutes things seemed to die down once again and she curled up onto his chest.

"Liam darling you can stay as long as you like. Have you ever thought about calling the police?" My mother asked.

"Yeah once but he got to me before, I will spare you all details and lets just say I ended up in the hospital for one night. You sorta learn quickly." He said.

"Mum stop asking questions." I scolded.

"Mi its fine, they have a right to know a) what type of people you are hanging around and b) what has gone on considering I'm staying here." He said. My father chuckled.

"I like this one Michty." My dad laughed. I groaned slamming my dead down. I heard Liam's soft laugh.

"So Mitchy..." He teased. I shot him a death glare.

"I told you never call me that." I hissed. He let out a chuckle.

"Okay kids time for bed." My mum said. Liam got up and shifted Jenny onto one arm then grabbed mine and his dishes before thanking my parents. I followed him with the rest of the dishes.

"Did she fall asleep?" I asked him.

"Yeah she did. Is she your only sibling?" He asked me as we walked upstairs.

"No, my little brother is at my aunts for the night. He is only a few months old." I told him. I showed him Jennys room and he pulled back her covers and put her in bed. He gently tucked her in. As we were about to leave we heard her cry.

"Liam!" He turned around and walked back to her. "Can you sing for me?" She pleaded. He nodded.

"What song baby girl?" He asked.

"Beneath your Beautiful." She asked he let out a chuckle and nodded.

"You tell all the boys "No" Makes you feel good, yeah. I know you're out of my league But that won't scare me away, oh, no You've carried on so long, You couldn't stop if you tried it. You've built your wall so high That no one could climb it, But I'm gonna try.
Would you let me see beneath your beautiful? Would you let me see beneath your perfect?
Take it off now, girl, take it off now, girl I wanna see inside Would you let me see beneath your beautiful tonight?" He sang softly. She finally was asleep. He got up slowly and followed me to my room.
