My Friend Marcel

Annie's dad has moved around a lot, and she has never been really able to make many friends. Finally her dad gets a steady job in a tiny town outside Cheshire, named Holmes Chapel. When Annie starts a new school year at Holmes Chapel Public High School, she meets a nerdy boy named Marcel Styles. As she gets to know him better, she realizes that he's not the geek everyone thinks he is. Annie gets Marcel to open up and become himself, and they become fast friends. But soon, Marcel finds himself falling for his friend...what will happen when her biggest secret is revealed? Will Marcel still like her? Or will this secret tear Annie and him apart...forever?

23. I'm sorry...

After my father told me what Harry had told him about Allie, and we talked for a little bit more, I walked around the front to where Harry played with Danny.  My dad walked with me, and called Danny over, taking him inside. Harry walked over to me and stuck his hands into his pockets. “So did you talk to your dad?” He asked.

“Yup.” I said.

“Did he tell you—“

“He told me everything.” I interrupted. “How my mum died.” I took a step closer to him. “How Allie tricked you into paying her fifty pounds a month so she wouldn’t tell.” I took another step closer. “How you willingly paid her that ridiculous amount of money so I wouldn’t be embarrassed in front of the entire school, which happened anyway.” He shrugged, looking down, and I poked him in the chest, forcing him to look at me. “And you know what I told him?” Harry looked wide eyed at me. I took one little step closer so I could feel his mint tinged breath on my face. “I said that I should have listened to you when you tried to tell me that you didn’t tell Allie. And that I should have believed you when you told me that you cared about me.”

“Annie…” He whispered, but I interrupted again.

“Please forgive me, Harry. I’m so sorry. You stayed by me even when I was a complete jerk to you. I’m really sorry.” I was blubbering again, and I swiped the tears from my eyes, ashamed that I was crying in front of him. Harry cradled my face in his hands, and his eyes met mine. His gaze flickered down to my lips, then back to my eyes. He leaned down and brushed his mouth across mine. I felt sparks fly up and down my arms, and my arms wrapped around Harry’s neck as he pulled me closer. My eyes closed.

“EWWWWWWWWWWW! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAD! ANNIE AND HARRY ARE KISSING!” Danny screeched from the window above us. Harry pulled away, and we both started laughing.

“This would only happen to us.” Harry laughed.  He looked down at me. “Annie?” He whispered.

“Do you wanna go out with me sometime?” I swallowed.

“Harry…I have something I need to tell you.” I sighed. “We’re moving to London on Sunday.”

 Harry’s jaw dropped. “What? Why?”

“My dad got a new job. I'm so sorry, Harry… I didn’t tell you sooner because I was angry at you, and…” I looked down. “I didn’t think you’d care.”

“I always care, Ann…” He ran a hand through his hair, making it bounce back . “On Sunday? So soon?”

“Yeah. We have to get there earlier. Cuz he’s starting on Monday.” We stood silently together, then he suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me to the door.

“Mr. Jenkins, can I take Ann over to Liam’s house for a movie night?” He asked. My father smiled at us.

“Thanks Dad.” I smiled at him, then kissed his cheek. He smiled back.

“Stay safe, Ann.”

Once Harry called everyone and told them to meet at Liam’s, I told everyone the story, and they sided with me. Olivia didn’t really understand what was happening, but once Louis filled her in, she sided with me as well. Liam let me pick the movie, and I chose A Walk To Remember. I cuddled up with Harry on the couch; Zayn was on the floor; Liam lounged in his beanbag chair; Niall and Hannah shared the love seat, and Olivia and Louis were squished together on the leather chair. They couldn’t both fit, so Olivia ended up sitting on Louis’ lap with her feet hanging off the side. Liam was not happy about that, and kept sending glares Louis’ way. I rested my head on Harry’s chest, and he pulled me close. “I don’t want you to go.” He whispered.

“I don’t want to go either.” I whispered back.

“We’ll Skype every day. And I’ll text you, and call you. I promise. I’m not going to forget you.”

“I’m not going to forget you either, Harry.” I leaned up and kissed his cheek gently. “I promise.”
