Second Chances.

It's been only a few months since Charlie left and shattered Zayn's world and she prays that they will never have to meet again.
Unfortunately, Charlie's world once again collides with Zayn's, when the band has to do a charity gig at her University and Charlie does everything to avoid him but somehow ends up in his arms at the end of the night.

7. -Chapter Six-

*That night, right before the boys’ performance.*

I easily steps into my clothes for the gig performance, letting Lou fix and pamper my black jet hair that was quiffed back. Once the black skinny jeans stuck to my skin, I stood up and started practicing my vocals, my eyes flittering around the room, watching the rest of the boys getting ready.

They hadn’t said a word to me since I had spoken to Charlie…so harshly. After I had so those words, I had felt a small twinge of regret…but it was small enough for me to push it away and forget about it. Until now.

“I’m an idiot,” I muttered to myself, the anger in my stance peeling away, letting my sensitive side show.

“Sure are,” A voice agreed with me.

I rolled my eyes, “Thanks, Niall.”

He smiled goofily, his eyes twinkling with humor.

“Why did you say that to her? It’s the opposite of how you’ve been feeling for the past few days?” Louis’ serious voice interrupted the joke between me and Niall. I looked at him, giving him a puzzled look. “Clearly she didn’t know it was us and then you say ‘Go to hell’, nice one.”

“Oh, give him a break,” Harry butt in, coming to my defense. “He was nervous and clearly he didn’t mean it, right, Zayn?”

My mouth opened but just hung there as I struggled internally with answering that question.

Did I honestly hate Charlie that much? Last year, I would’ve never done that. Even if I ever got into a small argument with Perrie, I’d never wish her any pain or anything of that sort.

There was a soft knock at the door and Rae’s head poked in. She avoided looking at me as she awkwardly said, “Five minutes till time.”

She glanced at Niall, giving him a small smile and he returned it.

And then the door slammed open and Charlie stepped in, pushing past her friend. I stiffened and crossed my arms over my chest, defensively. But Charlie didn’t even glance at me as she walked over to Lou and whispered something in her ear.

Then as she stepped away from Lou, her red hair perfectly moved away from her face and her gaze momentarily rested on me. No anger was read in her eyes except some sort of pain. She dropped her head but abruptly came to a stop at the door and looked over at me.

“I made a mistake, I should’ve waited,” She said, letting herself be vulnerable. “You would’ve been worth it.”

Then she quickly left the room, dragging Rae with her, out of Niall’s arms.

Everyone was silent, unsure of what to do with themselves and I slowly sat down, my gaze fixated on the white floor under my black shoes.

I should’ve waited…you would’ve been worth it.

And those words sparked that little amber of hope that had been burning under my broken heart and I let a smile form on my lips.

“Wouldn’t be too happy just yet, Zayn,” Lou said, interrupting my happy moment.

I raised my brows, “Why?”

“You’ve got competition,” She said, placing Harry’s curls perfectly on his head. I did? “She’s dating Wesley Delevingne.”

And then my world crashed around me, yet again.
