Long Lost Twin

My name is Lizzie, my Mum recently died from cancer so I was forced to live with my aunt. That also meant moving schools and making new friends. I did have a Dad but I never knew him. Mum did, they split when I was born. He took my twin and Mum took me.

57. Chapter 53: Help

The following day I decided to see Jenny and tell her the news.

“Hey, Jen,” I say as she opens the front door.

“Hey, come in.” She says and steps to the side.

“I have really good news.” I begin.

“You have the wedding planned?” Jenny asks. I laugh and shake my head.

“No. That hasn’t been sorted out yet. I’m pregnant.” I tell her. She gasps and pulls me into a hug.

“Wow!” She exclaims.

“I’m excited.” I say as I pull away.

“Was it planned or . . .?” Jenny asks. Her voice trailed off.

“No, I’m still happy though. We’re keeping it quiet for a few months, in case I lose the baby or something.” I say.

“Good, good. I just hope you and Louis stay together.” Jenny replies.

“Same, I love him, I have lost him many times before, and I can’t lose him again.” I sigh. “I don’t know what I would do if I lost him again.”

Jenny nods. “I wish your mum was here to see her grandchild. She would have been so happy.”

I nod and fight the tears threatening to fall. “I’m sure she’s happy wherever she is.” I say weakly.

I open the front door and step inside. I hang my bag and keys up after closing and locking the front door.

“Lou?” I call out.  I hate being in a house on my own. I wait ten seconds before calling out again. “Louis?!”

Louis staggers down the stairs at that point and I knew instantly he was high. I glare at him.

“Ugh, you’re high again, aren’t you?” I groan. I roll my eyes and run my hand through my hair.

“Yup,” Louis says before pulling me into a hug. “How was Jen-Jen?”

“She was fine.” I reply.  I pull back. “Please, please stop taking drugs.” I beg. I look into his eyes.

“I can’t, Liz.” Louis moans.

“You haven’t even tried!” I snap. I press my hand to my forehead and sigh. “Please try for me.”

“I’ll try, I promise.” Louis says and waves his hand in a dismissive way before heading back up the stairs. I knew he was rolling his eyes. I cross my arms.

“If you don’t stop I’ll leave.” I threaten. It was an empty threat; I hope he doesn’t see that. I couldn’t leave him. I would have to if it got worse. Louis turns around on the last step of the stairs and looks at me. One eyebrow was raised.

“Okay.” He mutters before turning back around and walking off.

I storm off into the kitchen and make myself a cup of tea.
