Long Lost Twin

My name is Lizzie, my Mum recently died from cancer so I was forced to live with my aunt. That also meant moving schools and making new friends. I did have a Dad but I never knew him. Mum did, they split when I was born. He took my twin and Mum took me.

30. Chapter 29: Ben

“You really need to stop crying over Louis!” Jess scolded the following morning as we sat at the table and ate breakfast.

“I haven’t cried in two weeks.” I mumbled.

“I mean move on! Get a boyfriend, forget about him. Live a little. You’re only eighteen once, you might as well live while you can.” She told me.

“I turned nineteen two weeks ago.” I told her.

“I meant nineteen. Live a little.” She pouted.

“It’s been two weeks; Louis and I were together ten months.” I complained.

“I know, I know. Please just cheer up.” She sighed. “I know, Louis moved on pretty quickly. I give you one more week. Then you need to have a boyfriend.”

“A week! I can’t find someone that quickly!” I objected.

“If two boys from One Direction wanted to date you, I’m sure you won’t have any problem finding someone else.” Jess said with a roll of her blue eyes. She twirled a strand of her brown hair around her finger. Jess picked up her gossip magazine from the table and I saw a smaller picture on the cover that I didn’t notice before.

“Hey! Louis is dating his ex, Eleanor. I met her ages ago.” I announced. Jess glanced at me. Her eyebrows were raised.

“Seriously? Why do you think they’re back together?” She asked. I shrugged.

“I never really spoke to her, she’s nice though.” I told Jess. “I know they broke up way before I started dating Louis.”

“So you’ve met two of Louis’ exes?” She asked and I nodded. “Where’s Jazz?” I shrugged.

“I think she’s at college or something.” I mumbled. “I think Paula has stayed in touch though.”

“At least one friend has tried.” Jess said as she shot me evils.

“We’re not as close as Paula is with her.” I protested.

“I get it, I get it. You should still text her to make sure she’s okay. She’s probably pissed that he’s back with Eleanor.” Jess mocked. I rolled my eyes at her and Jess smirked.

I stood up and dropped my bowl in the sink. It was Jess’ day to wash up. I went into my room and got ready for the day.

“That guy right there is hot. Go ask him out!” Jess pestered. I glared at her.

“I still have a week.” I protested.

“I mean start searching now so you don’t look desperate at the end of the week!” Jess sighed and rolled her eyes,

“I’m not over Louis yet.” I groaned and buried my head in my hands. Jess squealed and I looked up. The really hot guy was walking over to our table.

“Hey.” He said and looked at me.

“Hey.” I replied. I felt my cheeks burn. Ugh. Jess nudged my arm and winked.

“Can I sit here?” He asked. I nodded. I was lost for words. “My name is Ben.”

“My name is Lizzie.” I replied. I nibbled on my lip.

“Are you single?” Ben asked. I looked at him.

“Yeah,” I mumbled.

“She recently broke up with her boyfriend.” Jess added. I glared at her.

“Why?” Ben asked.

“It just wouldn’t work out.” I replied. I really didn’t want to talk about this to some guy I don’t know! I’m going to kill Jess later.

Ben was nice. Really nice. The problem is that I keep on comparing him to Louis. It’s annoying. Why can’t break ups be simple? They never are.

“Ben definitely likes you. I’m sure he’ll ask you out by the end of the week.” Jess gossiped.

“I keep comparing him to Louis. I can’t be in a relationship when I’m still in love with someone else!” I complained.

“Louis got a girlfriend, you can get a boyfriend and rub it in his face.”

“That’s harsh. He didn’t rub it in my face.” I moaned.

“I don’t care. He’s famous; it was all in the magazines. That’s rubbing it in your face.” Jess scowled. I sighed and stood up. I forgot how annoying she could be.

“I’m gonna be in my room if you need me.” I called out to her and slammed my bedroom door.
