Trouble Maker

"He hasn't been the same since you guys got together. He seems happier and kinder. He acts like a totally new person, like he has a new purpose to live. You're changing his life."

"No, he's changing mine."

3. Three

“Welcome to Miami, boys and Zoey.” Paul smiled as he greeted us at the stadium. The guys wanted to go early to sound check to see where they were going to perform.

“Hey Paul!” All five of them said in unison. I smiled and waved hello to him.

“So dressing rooms are back there, snack table is over here, and sound check is in 30 minutes. You are free to walk around, just don’t get lost and don’t break anything.” Paul chuckled.

Louis, Harry, Liam, and Zayn took off running, chasing each other off the stage. Niall held out his arm, offering for me to walk with him.

“Want to go somewhere? Just hang out?” He asked. I nodded and walked next to him. Fans lined up outside the arena, chanting the boys’ names.

“How about we go outside and meet some fans?” I pointed towards the crowd of teenage girls.

“Sure.” Niall smiled. We opened the doors and walked outside. “Anyone want a picture?” He laughed. It seemed like there were a hundred girls, screaming and lining up in front of us.

The first girl stepped up and hugged Niall. He talked to her a bit before posing with her. I awkwardly stood beside him, not knowing what to do. Fan after fan came up. They asked Niall basic questions, about the tour and where the other boys were. Niall had noticed I felt a bit uncomfortable and wrapped his arm around my waist, holding me close to his body. One fan said she didn’t want ‘Niall’s girlfriend’ in the picture because he was quote on quote “hers.”

“You all have some nerve talking to this girl like that. She may not be my girlfriend, but I still care about her. You’re lucky Louis isn’t here. He would flip out. Considering this is his little sister. C‘mon Zoey.” Niall said. His face was reddening and his muscles clenched. He said halfheartedly, “Bye guys. See you at the show.”

He pulled me back towards the doors. “Ni, Niall. Breathe. Calm down. It’s nothing, alright? I’ve dealt with stuff like this before. It’s nothing.” I gripped his arm, trying to calm him down.

“You don’t deserve to be treated like that. Nobody does.”

“Calm down. Please. I’m fine. It’s nothing. Let’s just go inside.” I rubbed his bicep, since his arm was still around me. He nodded and we walked back to the dressing room.

*Louis’s POV*

“Is there something wrong with your brain? After everything we’ve been through, you’re talking about taking a break? Do you not understand all the hate I’ve gotten because of us? I can’t believe you, Louis Tomlinson.” Harry lectured me. I sat on the couch in my dressing room, with Harry standing in front of me.

“I don’t want to break up, Haz. I just think we should lay on the down low while my sister is here. I’m not ready to tell my family yet.”

“Two years of hiding, Lou. I have loved you non-stop for two entire years. We have told the boys, we have told my family. I think it’s time we tell your family. I’m sick of having to look at you with El and pretend that I’m not in love with you. Do you understand how hard that is?”

“I know, babe. I’m sorry.”

“You don’t understand how hard it is to see you with her. I’m tired of hiding. I just want to be with you. I just want to be happy again.” Harry ran his fingers through his hair.

“I understand, Harry. I want to be honest with you. I’m done making excuses on why I haven’t come out to them. I just don’t feel ready.”

“I hate being upset with you, Boo. And I hate arguing. I’m sorry. I never really came out to my parents. My mum figured it out from rumors about us from the paps. I trust you, and when you feel you’re ready, tell me. We are in this together. Okay?” Harry sat down next to me, wrapping his arms around me. I snuggled into his chest, feeling pure bliss and comfort.

“I love you, Harry.” I tilted my head up and looked at my boyfriend. He looked down at me, placing his perfect, pink lips on mine.

“I love you more.” He smiled.

*Niall’s POV*

Zoey sat on the couch in my dressing room, playing on her phone. I sat on the chair in front of the mirror. “She’s so beautiful. Why does she have to be Louis’s sister? He’d never let me date her.” I thought to myself.

“Hey, um, Nialler?” Harry knocked on the door softly as he opened it. “Can I talk to you for a second?”

“Yeah, sure. Zoey, can you give us a sec?”

“Uh, okay.” She nodded. She’s really cute when she’s confused.

Harry sat on the couch. “So you seem to be pretty interested in Zoey.”

“Yeah, she’s great.” I smiled. Just the very thought of her sent a red flush to my cheeks.

“I need you to do me a favor. I need you to keep her occupied. You know, away from me and Lou. He doesn’t want his family to know about us yet.”

“I’m not going to keep her ‘occupied’ so you can run around with your boyfriend. I’m going to spend time with her because I want to know her.” I replied sharply.

“Fine. Just keep her away from us. I’m not losing him because of his dumb sister.” Harry scoffed.

“Dumb sister? How dare you talk about her like that. You don’t even know Zoey. She’s sweet, and beautiful, and real. Unlike you.” My fists clenched.

“Whatever. And you better do a good job at keeping her away. Or else.”

“Or else what?” I laughed. Harry is bigger and stronger than me, but I don’t care. If he tries anything, I’ll tell Louis. Louis hates when Harry gets aggressive.

“I’ll tell Zayn about last summer. The Perrie thing.” Harry folded his arms over his chest, settling back on the couch.

“You wouldn’t.” I tried to keep my cool.

“Try me.” Harry smirked.

“Leave. Now.” I looked away from him.

“Pleasure doing business with you.” He plastered a cocky smile and strode out of the small room.

His presence on the couch was replaced with Zoey. “I just talked to Liam and Zayn. They said they rented a yacht for the weekend. We’re going out on it tonight. Liam said we’re staying the next 2 nights on it too.”

“Sounds like fun.” I smiled. The excitement on her face was enough to cheer me up. What Harry just said made me sick to my stomach.

“Are you alright? You seem a bit down. Is it still the thing that happened outside? Or did Harry say something to you?” She asked.

“Yeah, I’m fine. We should probably get back to the stage. Sound check is about to start soon.” I ran my fingers through my hair, changing the subject to hide my emotion.
