Daughter of Magic

Alanondra Torrington is the daughter of Hecate, and twin sister of Alabaster Torrington who was exiled by the gods. Now she must find him, and defeat the monsters set in her path to get to him, while finding Camp Half-Blood on the way. And maybe a little bit of love?

6. Chapter 6

Still unable to believe I'd let myself be roped into this, completely off track of finding my brother, or other demigods to help me in my search.

But, I was one to keep my promise. Like I promised Al that I'd find him.

So, with five minutes to six, Leo strolled up to Hecate cabin and knocked. I answered to door, naturally.

There he stood, in a t-shirt, with very little grime on it, jeans, also with little grime on them, and his tool belt strapped around his waist.

"Hey," he replied to my monotone greeting. "You ready?"

"As ready as I can be." I turned to Blair, Lou and Scott. "Bye, I'll be back. I'll need to talk to you, Lou, alright?"

"Of course, have as much fun as you can." She promised.

"I'll try."

I walked out next to Leo and we met Chiron on the top of Half-Blood Hill. "Okay, you two, you're to keep your weapons accessible at all times. And keep in contact, every half hour I want a Iris-Message, and if I don't get one, then I'm sending out a search team. Understand?"

"Yes, Chiron. Don't worry, you can count on me." I told him.

"Yes, go. Eight no later!" He called after us as we headed down the hill, and towards the town.

Now, you should understand, I was completely expecting some corner store junk, and a park, not the pizza shop and fair that he took me to.

We munched on our pizza as we made our way through the crowds, a guy and girl strolling through a fair not even earning people a second glance at us.

"You're telling me that you defeated three cyclopes by a) using a robotic crane and b) crushing one under an engine?"

"Yes indeed."

"You're joking."

"I'm not. Piper almost managed to charmspeak her way out, but the leader one, Ma Gasket, snapped her sons out of it."

"Well, I have five jars of monster dust, and a missing brother. I also, single handedly managed to manipulate the mist so that demigods, satyrs and monsters are the only one who see me."

"Mmhmm. But it broke once I crossed the magical barriers into Camp."

"Awesome," he breathed, as if utterly star struck by it.

"Exactly." We rounded a corner and found ourselves at the entrance to a bouncy castle. Leo looked at me pleadingly.

"Come on, we gotta go in there."

"Fine, but if you knock me over, I'll stab you with my dagger."

"Cool, let's go then!" He exclaimed, grabbing my wrist and dragging me towards the attendant, obviously missing the literal tone I'd used.

The attendant stopped us as we started taking off our shoes. "You'll have to take that wood out of your belt miss, and you'll have to take off your tool belt, sir." He told us in an unamused, monotone.

I snapped my fingers and concentrated, "you'll allow us to pass, we don't need to take them off." I said, and you could feel the ripple as I manipulated the mist, forcing it to do my bidding.

His eyes went glassy and he nodded, allowing us onto the bouncy castle. "Your welcome." I whispered to Leo.

"What did you do to him? What was that?" He asked as we started jumping.

"I manipulated the mist." I explained.

"You should teach me how to do that."

"Nope." I answered.

We jumped around, and every time the attendant told us our time was up, I forced him into thinking we'd just gotten on. Leo, at least, was grateful.

Finally, after sending the seven thirty IM to Chiron we decided that we could start making our way back and both headed for the exit/entrance and Leo knocked each me over. I fell flat on my back, bouncing twice before it settling, but knocking Leo off his feet and he, clumsily, landed on me.

I reached for my dagger but Leo locked eyes with me and my hand froze around the hilt. One movement and I could have gotten him. One. But instead, my hand stayed around the hilt, and he searched my eyes for a sign of something, and when he gulped and removed my hand from my dagger, I didn't stop him.

Then, he surprised me, even more than he already had. He leaned forward and in one fluid movement, almost like someone would surprise an attacker, he had me speechless.

I was, plainly, having my first kiss. In a bouncy castle.
