Daughter of Magic

Alanondra Torrington is the daughter of Hecate, and twin sister of Alabaster Torrington who was exiled by the gods. Now she must find him, and defeat the monsters set in her path to get to him, while finding Camp Half-Blood on the way. And maybe a little bit of love?

5. Chapter 5

Here we were, Lou, Blair and I, in the closest clothing store with our weapons strapped to our belts picking out clothes.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Lou asked.

"Do I really have a choice? I told him to get back to me if he knew where, and that was a promise. I didn't think he would come up with a place."

"Well, good luck. At least you'll have spells."

"Here. This." I pulled out a nice coral skater dress with thick spaghetti straps.

"Oh and wear these underneath so you can still fight monsters and look good." Lou handed me a pair of plain black tights.

"And you gotta have a jacket." She pulled out a cute black blazer.

"Shoes." I picked up a pair of grey high top converse.

"And, a belt to hold your sword and dagger on." She picked up a simple brown belt.

"You guys are good. Now, I can fight monsters and look good while doing it." They laughed and we paid for the clothes and shoes and belt and left the store. "Now, my hair and makeup. Either of you know anyone in Aphrodite Cabin that would do a nice job without overdoing it?"

They looked at each other and smiled. "Piper."

"Excuse me?"

"The head of Aphrodite Cabin. Close friend with Leo."

"Will she do it?"

When we got back to camp, they went and got Piper and she came, I got dressed and after she'd examined it, she did my hair and makeup appropriately. My hair was in a simple braid over my shoulder with a pink lace bow on the end. My makeup was soft pink lipstick, soft pink eyeshadow and black eyeliner and mascara.

"You're good. I'll have to ask you for some tips later on."

"I'd be happy to give. This stuff wont start running if you start to sweat, we both know you'll be the one fighting the monsters. I mean, I love Leo and all, but he's not as handy in a fight."

"Yeah, and I haven't even known him for long."

We smiled at each other. "You know, you'd be a useful allie. I'd love to fight by your side sometime."

"I'd love to." She left the cabin.

"Now, he said...?"

"He didn't say when he'd pick you up. But here." Lou strapped my sword and dagger to my belt on the right side.

"Thanks." I adjusted them. "I just wish I could have worn my cloak..."

"You love that thing don't you? How can you fight with it on?"

"Well, at least you'll be ready when he comes."
