Dark Secrets

My name's Hope and I'm dead... Well, I'm supposed to be. I woke up buried and in a cemetery and to make matters worse it looks like I have a personal stalker as well who may be my only chance at answers. Let's just hope he doesn't kill me while we're at it.

10. Chapter 10

I waited for the impact, but it never came. After another 5 seconds, I cautiously opened my eyes. He still hadn't moved, so I took the opportunity to escape.

I pushed him over and bolted out of the ally, looking back only once to see that he wasn't even attempting to chase after me and that he was just staring at me with what looked almost like pity. Why would he pity me? Only mere minutes ago he wanted so desperately to kill me.

I ran into town square where I was supposed to meet Al if everything went as planned. Not that it did...

When I found him, he was perched atop a small convenience store, so I scaled the side of the building to meet him.

"So how did your meeting with little Chase go?" He asked with a smirk.

I didn't want to mention that he cornered me and almost killed me because that would make me seem weak and that would disappoint him. So I lied instead. "Everything went perfect as planned." I beamed. "Sent him running like the little baby that he is."

"Glad to hear it. I'm amazed you didn't get yourself killed. He's a tough Ajokoira, always puts up a good fight."

"Wait, you know him?" I asked stunned. Why didn't he tell me that before?

"Yes we got in some... turmoil over a little silly thing. But that isn't of your concern, It was a couple of years ago, he wasn't very experienced then, but he still knew a little defense. He should be glad I spared him."

With that he smirked and stood up, wiping his hands on his pants. Just as he was about to leave, I grabbed his arm and spun him around to face me, causing his hood to fall off his head in the process of it.

"You said you fought him a couple years ago, so how old are you now? That's counting the years that you have been a vampire also."

He stalked toward me stopping inches away from my face after a moment of considering it.

"Surely you could figure that out on your own... I'm not much older than I look, I'm only twenty one." He frowned teasing me.

It was now that I got a good look at his face for the first time, since he is always wearing a robe with the hood over his head. He had eyes the colour of the sky after a storm, a hard look to his skin other than the white scar that ran down the length of his entire left cheek. His lips light pink, and teeth so white they might blind you.

He chuckled before backing up and pulling his hood back on.

"Like what you see?" He teased.

To be honest I didn't. He looked like a pop star if you took away the scar. He was a typical boy, he didn't interest me. Not to mention the big age difference.

"No. I don't like what I see." I told him bluntly. "You look like most guys, to be completely honest. You don't interest me in the slightest." I went to the edge of the roof and jumped off aware that he was watching my every move.

As I walked down the streets my mind kept thinking of the Ajokoira... Chase? I think that's what his name was. My mind kept going back to the look of pity he had on his face. Why would he pity a girl like me? I drink blood for gods sake!

My mind was reeling until I smacked into someone I did not wish to see. Her face alone gave me nightmares.

"Oh. Why hello there, Hope. Having a nice day? Because if you were, too bad. Your life is about to become a living hell." She growled.

I was frozen with fear, how did she find me?

She took my shock as an advantage and pounced, pinning me to the floor, giggling and rambling on about how she'd finally gotten me. She grabbed a fistful of my hair and dragged me into a ally towards a dim lit building. The last thing I saw was a brown bottle coming down to smack me in the head. Then I blacked out.
