14. Chapter 13

When Justin and Audrey reached the bottom of the stairs, Avery ran up to them and demanded that she was brought along to the hospital. Justin rolled his eyes. He didn't want them to come, but he couldn't drive either. He'd have to sit in the back with Audrey, so someone had to drive. Eventually he gave in and let Seth and Avery come.

At the car, Justin set Audrey down--to which she started to cry--so he could get in and pull her onto his lap. He shut the car door and didn't bother to buckle up as Seth sped off.

Audrey lied her head on his chest. "Justin,"

"I'm scared."

Justin sighed and ran his hands through her hair. "I know baby. You'll be okay. They're going to make you better, you have to trust them."

She sniffled. "But I only want you to touch me, not anybody else."

Justin smiled. "You'll be asleep. You won't even feel it."

"B-but if I'm asleep I won't know that you're there."

"I'm not leaving," he said quietly and kissed her forehead. Audrey rubbed her eyes and then tilted her head up so she was looking at Justin. She gave him a weak smile.

"Can I have a real kiss?" she asked and pouted her bottom lip. Justin couldn't help but smile again.

He nodded. "Of course,"

Audrey tried to lean up but every part of her hurt, so Justin leaned down and placed his lips on hers. She started to reach up to wind her fingers through his hair, but he lightly grabbed her wrists and pushed her arms back down. When he pulled away, Audrey frowned.

"Nooo come back," she whined. Justin laughed.

"No baby, we're at the hospital. We have to get you feeling better." he said softly, causing Audrey to pout her bottom lip and cross her arms.

"Well I don't want to get better," she said stubbornly. Justin raised an eyebrow, and then Audrey wrinkled her nose, realizing what she just said. "I mean, I do, but I want you more..." she trailed off quietly. Justin chuckled and pecked her nose.

"I know. It'll be okay."

Audrey sighed. "I hope so."

It took a while for everything to get settled. When they were getting a room, Audrey threw up again and had started to shake so bad that Justin thought he would drop her. The girl at the front desk called a doctor in and then Audrey had to be taken away on a stretcher which was probably the hardest part for Justin. He managed to stay calm, though.

After Audrey got out of the emergency room she was brought back to the regular room where Justin, Seth, and Avery were waiting. As Avery helped Audrey into the hospital bed, Justin and Seth talked to the doctor.

"So, is she going to be okay?" Seth asked. The doctor nodded and Justin, who had been holding his breath, started to breath normally again.

"Yes, she'll be fine after we give her the medication through an I.V." he said. "She had her stomach pumped and we managed to get most of the toxic substance out of her system. After the medicine she won't vomit anymore, but she might start to shake every once and a while."

Justin nodded. "Thank you."

The doctor smiled and nodded before he turned around and walked out of the room. Seth shut the door quietly behind him and went over to sit by Avery. Justin rubbed his face and leaned against the wall. He didn't bother going over to Audrey because she had fallen asleep.

They all sat/stood in silence until a nurse came in to put in Audrey's I.V. Justin watched intently as she did it, and then it was over. Just like that. Justin sighed and sank down to the floor just when Audrey started to wake up.

He jerked his head up and quickly hoisted himself off the floor. He walked over to the left side of the bed and knelt down beside it. Audrey turned her head to look at him.

"Are you feeling any better?" he asked quietly.

Audrey shrugged. "I guess. When do we get to go home?"

Justin looked up at the clock and then back at Audrey. "About an hour."

She closed her eyes. "Okay."

And then she was asleep. Justin's mouth quirked up at the corner as he got up and sat by the wall again. He listened to Seth and Avery talk quietly as he himself fell asleep too.

"Justin, wake up." Seth was shaking his shoulder. Justin opened his eyes and groaned. He looked up to see Seth next to him, Avery clinging to Seth's arm, and surprisingly--Audrey, standing in front of him. He smiled, got up, and held out his arms. Audrey smiled weakly and wrapped her arms around him.

"Hi baby," he said.

Audrey sniffled and Justin knew she was crying. "Hi."

"You ready to go home?"

"Me too," Justin smiled and moved his mouth to her ear. "Up."

Audrey slowly moved her hands around his neck and turned her body. When she jumped, Justin put his right arm under her knees and the other one supporting her back. She closed her eyes and leaned into his chest.

The drive home wasn't long at all. Audrey stayed asleep and Seth and Avery stayed quiet. It was only when they walked into the house when things started to get interesting.

The place was trashed. The furniture was slashed to pieces, glass littered the floor, and when Justin told Seth to check the house, there wasn't a sign of anybody. That meant that Veronica, Brandon, Ethan, and Austin had left.

Justin looked around the kitchen and found a note on the counter. He set Audrey down and her arms immediately went around him. He picked up the piece of paper and started to read it out loud.

"Dear East side (or what's left of it),

"We now have everyone we need. Your 'friends' Veronica, Ethan, Brandon, and Austin have finally agreed to work with us since your little 'gang' has completely fallen apart. Liam is dead, Claire is with us, Audrey is sick and her and Justin never seem to get along unless something bad has happened to the other person, which, in my opinion, is annoying as fuck. Your friends sure seem to think so.

"Now there's four of you. We've placed bombs around the house that are set to go off after you read this note. Have fun trying to find a place to...how should I put it? Redeem yourselves. Or maybe you can drop out of the gang business completely?

"It's your decision. Choose wisely.

Then the bombs exploded.
