Beauty and the Orc

Vanya's never seen an Orc before. She'd heard of them, of course, about how hideous and cruel and evil they were. All that she heard, however, did not stop her from tending to a wounded Orc she found in her father's barn, though she didn't know what it was at first. What will happen as she and the orc slowly learn to trust each other?
(Hi guys! Because I am so obsessed with LOTR, I am going to try a fan fic! Please comment, like, fav, and please leave feedback! And also, it's kind of like a crossover with LOTR and Beauty and the Beast :/ )
WARNING: A fair amount of swearing.

8. Tale As Old As Time

A/N This is is! The last chapter guys! :D

Vanya woke up to sounds of a struggle. She dressed in a hurry and ran outside. Her mouth dropped as she tried t comprehend the scene in front of her. Two big men were trying to wrestle him to the ground, but failing to keep the buff farmer from throwing well-aimed punches and kicks. One of them already had a swollen eye and a cut on his chin.

She saw Suiadan, who was watching with some interest. "What's going on here?" She asked him frantically.

"The town deemed your father dangerously insane." Suiadan polished his nails on his leather tunic. "I just arrived a little while ago and saw them corner him."

"You can convince them to let him go, can't you?" She pleaded.

He grinned sadistically. "I could...if you marry me."

"Never!" She shouted at him. "I don't like you! You're an arrogant ass with his nose in the air."

He slammed her back against the door, making her gasp and squirm. "You'll regret that." He rasped into her ear. "I'll-" Suddenly, his weight was gone and Gnash held the man up by his throat.

"You'll do what, exactly?" Asked the orc, he was terrifying. A cloak protected him from the sunlight and hid his face from view so that only his fierce eyes were visible.

Suiadan was too scared to answer. He was a coward at heart and his eyes were bugged out of his skull.

The two men wrestling with her father paused to stare at the spectacle. Her father smiled to himself and used their distraction to get away. They never even noticed he was gone.

Meanwhile, Suiadan had regained his ability to speak and was begging for his life. "Please, don't hurt me! I'll do anything, just don't hurt me."

Gnash growled at him, but eyed Vanya and dropped him. He turned his back to the man and moved to help the distressed young woman back into the house. That was a mistake. Suiadan reached into his boot, drew out a knife and threw it at the orc. It hit Gnash right in his side, sinking in hilt-deep and he hissed in pain. Suiadan tackled him from behind and toppled him over.

They rolled around on the ground and somehow, Suiadan had retrieved the dagger in the commotion and was stabbing Gnash over and over again. Gnash held onto him, despite the pain. He managed to catch the man's hand as it slipped between them and try to wrench away. That was when things went really, really bad. The knife must have twisted about and it ended up slicing open Suiadan's belly. He died almost instantly from loss of blood.

Gnash pushed the body off of him and tried to get up, but couldn't. Vanya, who had stood stock-still watching the fight play out, ran to his side and knelt. "You're going to be fine, Gnash." She said reassuringly, petting his forehead. "I'll stitch you up and we'll explain to everybody what happened. There are witnesses, he attacked you first."

"Shut up." Gnash grimaced and shivers wracked his body. "I'm dyin', there ain't nothin' you can do."

"No! It's going to be fine, everything will be fine. You're the one who needs to shut up."

He hacked out a laugh. "Look at you, talkin' like an orc." It turned into a wheeze and he fought for his next breath. "At least I got to see ya one last.." His eyes were dimming."Time." And his body went limp in her arms.

"NO!" She screamed hysterically. She hugged him tight, rocking back and forth repeating that word like a mantra. "No, no, no! You can't die. you!"

She felt a hand on her back. "Leave him, honey. He's gone." She shook her head vigorously and clung to the dead orc like a child would to a security blanket. She was covered in both Suiadan's gore and the black blood of her friend.

Suddenly, lights began to dance around the two of them. She jumped back from them and watched the colors change like fireworks. Gnash's body was lifted up and it hovered in the air just a few feet above the ground.

"What's happening?" Her father asked.

"He's being redeemed." An old man stepped into view, it was the librarian from town. His grey cloak lay discarded on the ground. It had covered a cloak of blinding white.

"Is that..Gandalf?" The two men who'd come to retrieve her father gasped in awe, then fell to their knees. "Gandalf the white!" They said, astounded.

Gandalf smiled at Vanya, who had gone down on her knees like the others. "Watch, my dear. Watch." She did as she was told and watched as Gnash was transformed. "Eru has given him a second chance."

His skin paled and his limbs lengthened. His hair became healthy and thick. It was the color of spun gold. His fingers no longer had talons and his eyes changed from red to green. Pointed ears poked out from the hair that tumbled in a a waterfall down his back. In short, he was returned to the form of his distant ancestors, that of an Elf. The curse of his kind had been lifted from him.

The lights slowly faded and Gnash was lowered gently to the ground. A few minutes passed, then he moved. He opened his new eyes to the world. "What the hell?" The familiar phrase sounded so strange in his new voice, that he scrambled up. Then he saw Vanya. "Vanya, are you hurt? He didn't hurt you, did he?"

She shook her head, tears of wonder in her eyes. She looked up at Gandalf, who was smiling and leaning on his staff. "I've been coming to your library for months and you never told me who you were?"

His eyes twinkled. "Would you have believed me?" He leaned down and spoke in a whisper. "He's getting anxious, you had better go to him."

Gandalf watched as the two of them hugged each other and timidly kissed for the first time. "His new name is Almarean which means 'blessed', for he has been blessed by Eru." He said at last. Then, as he observed the two of them walk off happily into the house, he began to sing.

*Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Then somebody bends
Just a little change
Small to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared
Beauty and the Beast

Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise

Tale as old as time
Tune as old as song
Bittersweet and strange
Finding you can change
Learning you were wrong
Certain as the sun
Rising in the east
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the Beast

Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the Beast*

(A/N That song was from Beauty and the Beast by the way so I guess you could say it is a little bit of a crossover?! Anyway, it's nice ending a book with a happy ending for once. Any thoughts on this Movellas?)
