Saved at Dark Hours

I stared up at him, tears forming in my eyes. I watched his expression on his slender face, hoping to see him stumble over his words. He didn't though, his face stayed taut not showing any expression, while my heart broke even more.
"No!" I raised my voice pushing my hands into his shoulders as the tears spilled down my cheeks. "Louis please don't think that way" I choke out. He wrapped his hands around my wrists and held them firm. I could tell he was in pain physically and emotionally. I learned to see past his façade to the real Louis.
"Dakota, me thinking differently is not going to change the outcome." He said his face now pulling down showing remorse.
"Louis, this is just another block in our road, all we have to do is climb it." I said quieter "we can do this"
He let go of my wrist and lifted his hand to my face. Brushing the hair out of my eyes he leaned down and kissed my forehead. "That's the thing Coda, I cant climb this one." (Louis Fanfic)

"ugh" I moaned as I raised myself from the garage floor. The rain has stopped and sunlight was coming in through the windows. Its probably about about 6 by now. I pressed my ear against the door to see if I could hear my mom. the door was swung open just as I was leaning forward. I fell and landed at my moms feet. I looked up and smiled. "Dakota, what are you doing in the garage?" she asked me. I stood to my feet "well the power went out and I went to turn it on but when I was coming back in I forgot I had the door locked." I watched her shake her head and then go about her business. I sat at the counter and watched her. she had her bluetooth in her ear with her nice suit on. she grabs a to-go cup and poors coffee in it with tsp. of sugar and a tblsp. of cream. I watch as she puts one piece of toast in the toaster and pull out the butter. "mom?" I ask "hhmm" "are you working tonight?" I asked. she pulled her toast out and spread just the right amount of butter on it. she put the butter back and then put the lid on her coffee. "Mom?" I raised my voice a little. she looked up at me. "what hun?" she said. I rolled my eyes. "nevermind" I got off the stool and walked upstairs to my room. I was beginning to feel tired again. I took off my sweatshirt and my jeans and climbed into bed. I stared up at the ceiling my eyes dancing over the fake stars that were purposefully placed up there. A smile formed as I closed my eyes remembering that day so long ago.

I sat on the couch squished by my brother as he played his video game. "Tommy can I please play" I whined to him. "you have to be older then ten to play" he said to me. I sulked back in the couch and glared at him. Its not fair just because hes 12 and Im 8 he thinks he can run everything. He looked at me and sighed. "ok but just for a little bit" he handed over the remote and I took it gladly. I began playing sadly i kind of sucked just cause I dont play like he does. "Dakota!" I heard my father yell for me. I set the remote down in a huff. "coming" I called back. I went up stairs and found him in my room. "yes?" I asked walking in my room. he shut the door and turned off the lights. "look" he said to me. I had no idea what he wanted me to look at when its so dark I couldnt see in front of my face. thats when I saw something start to glow. I looked up to see dozens of stars on my ceiling. "wow" I breathed "happy birthday" he said. I could tell he was smiling. "dad my birthday isnt for another 2 weeks." I laughed. "well i was able to do it now so I just did" he flipped the lights back on. I gave him a big hug. "thanks dad I love it"

I opened my eyes and wiped the few tears that were falling from them. that was exactly a week before Tom died and my father took off. I need to get up and do something. I got out of bed and put my jeans back on and grabbed my keys. I put my keys back down and grabbed my skateboard instead. once I made it outside I took off down the sidewalk. I didnt exactly know where I was heading but I decided just to ride around. I closed my eyes for a second and let the wind go through my hair. I always loved the smell of the air after thunderstorms. I opened my eyes and there was a girl walking right where I was heading. I stopped the board thankfully right before we collided. The girl in front of me stared at me with bright blue eyes her dark blonde hair was braided down her shoulder. "Im sorry" I said to her. "oh no thats my fault" she said. I gave her a small smile and stepped back. "ok well um Im gonna go" I said. she pulled her books closer to her "ok again im sorry" she gave me a smile before hurrying down the crosswalk and turning a corner out of sight. Well that was a little weird. I turned around I havent seen her before yet she looked my age maybe a year younger. wonder where she goes to school, probably private schooled. I put my skateboard down and made my way back home making sure I was paying attention this time.
