20. Studio and Shows

Grace's POV

"Did you bring food?" Niall asked.

"Morning to you too, Ni," I replied, chuckling as I took a seat next to Liam on the couch opposite the constantly ravenous boy.

"Is that a no?"

I rolled my eyes. "How about we go out for lunch if we have a really good morning writing?"

"Deal," Niall agreed, nodding his head.

"Did your date go well with Ella?" I asked him. His cheeks immediately turned beet red as he grinned.

"I take that as a yes..." I would ask for details later. It was better to let him be for now.

"So where's Zayn?" I asked the room.

"No clue. Probably just running late. He has the hardest time leaving Perrie every morning." Louis spoke up, letting the ball he had been throwing up in the air fall into his lap.

"Aww," I couldn't help myself. "Speaking of girlfriends, how's Eleanor?"

A huge smile spread across Louis' face. "She's great, thanks for asking love."

I wasn't done catching up on everyone's love lives just yet. "And Josh," I said, turning to him, "I had the opportunity to meet Avery last night. She is so sweet!"

"That's right. You guys picked her up last night. Thanks, Grace, I'll tell her you said that. And thank you, Liam, for the favor. I wouldn't have bothered you, but I was in a tough bind." Josh seemed genuinely appreciative.

"No problem, happy to help," Liam replied as he put an arm around me. I leaned in to him; his cologne smelt absolutely heavenly. I was falling for him more and more every day.

"How about we get started? Zayn can join in when he arrives."

Everyone agreed, and we got right to work. Zayn came along about 20 minutes later. We wrote for hours, taking a quick lunch break out that I had promised Niall, and then continuing until 5:00.

"How about we call it a day?" Liam asked.

"Works for me," I agreed. Everyone packed up their things, but before we were out the door, Louis told us that he had an announcement.

"I spoke to our music director, and he says that we're gonna start recording the first tracks tomorrow."

We all kind of did a little celebratory dance. Recording meant hearing the songs with the finished vocals and music, which was one step closer to the album release.

"Yay!" I exclaimed. "I can't wait to hear how everything sounds."

"Neither can I. This is definitely gonna be the best album yet!" Liam smiled as he took my hand.

We said goodbye to everybody and walked out of the studio. "Where to now?" Li asked me.

I shrugged. "Want to just go home and chill?"

"Sure. Mine or yours?"

"Mmm... Doesn't matter to me. I'm sorry I'm so boring."

"You're not boring, Grace. How about you come over to my place and we can relax?"

"Perfect," I smiled.

When we arrived back at Liam's penthouse, I flopped down on the couch and pulled out my phone. "Oh, so now you and I are engaged. And Louis and Eleanor split. These stories on Twitter are ridiculous." Liam just chuckled. He had heard it all before. "This lifestyle is certainly a challenge, Li. There's so much crap to deal with."

He shrugged, sighing. "It's definitely tough. Sometimes you just want out. But this is my life, and I've got to appreciate the good parts of it." He sat down next to me.

"Right. And I'm gonna appreciate the good parts of mine." I laid down with my head in Liam's lap, smiling up at him. He returned the gesture, and we just sat there gazing at each other, frozen in the moment.

"So do you want to show me some of your writing? Like stuff that wasn't in the twit cam?" Liam broke the silence.

"Sure! I mean, I don't have my guitar, but I can just sing a cappella."

"Hold on a sec. Maybe I can help." Liam got off the couch and disappeared down the hall. He returned a second later, holding a gorgeous Martin guitar.

"Where did you get this?" I asked in shock. It was the nicest-looking acoustic I'd ever seen.

"Niall got it as a gift. He already had a bunch so he gave it to me," he shrugged. "Ni tried to teach me how to play, but after the last tour we barely saw each other, so it was tough to keep learning."

"It's absolutely amazing!" I replied, admiring the instrument as he handed it to me.

"I want you to have it. I know that's kind of regifting, but you'll get so much more use out of it than I will."

"I can't accept this, Li. We've been together for like a week and you've been so amazingly generous to me. It's really too much." I pushed the guitar towards him."

Liam chuckled. "I appreciate your manners, but I really want you to have it."

"I really can't," I protested.

" If it makes you feel better, we can designate it the "Liam's house" guitar, and it will be here whenever you want to play it."

I sighed. "Okay, deal." To be honest, I really couldn't wait to play it.

"So show me what you've got!"

"Hmm... Okay. This one's called "Without You.'" I started playing and singing.

"Once upon a time
I was needy and desperate
I was convinced that a boy
Should be the center of my attention
But I've started to realize
That I'm free as a bird
And those that say single is boring
Are completely absurd
I don't need a "man", a "bf" or a "beau"
To tell me things women should already know
Like "hon you're so pretty" or
"You look great in that dress"
I'm the only person
That I need to impress..."

I finished the song and then stopped to hear what Liam had to say about it.

"Well, if you're trying to get a message across to me I think you made your point..." I couldn't really tell if he was serious or joking.

"It's not about you, Liam!"

He laughed. "I was hoping you'd say that. I love it, babe. It's really catchy and dancy." He leaned in to give me a kiss. His lips making contact with mine sent shivers down my spine. I kissed him back; it was the best feeling in the world.

We were interrupted by my phone ringing in the kitchen. I reluctantly broke away from Liam and ran to get it.

"Hey Grace, it's Leah. GUESS WHAT?"

"WHAT?" I replied, mimicking her.

"SUNDAY?!" I couldn't believe that I was going to have my first headline show. In less than a week!

"YES. It's short notice I know, but the venue had an opening and I figured we had to take the opportunity!"

"So I'm assuming it's in the afternoon?"

"Yup, 1:00 pm show, it's a small place, about 250 people, and it's general admission standing."

"That sounds absolutely amazing, Leah! Thank you! So like how many songs should I plan on?"

"Nine or ten, maybe. It'll just be a short acoustic show to get your name around town. If you want to announce it on Twitter, I'll send you the link to the ticket site. The tickets will go on sale tonight at 9 for $15 each."

"That would be perfect! I'll let people know online, and then I'll get to work on my set list!"

"Great! I better run, Harry's waiting to take me out to dinner, and he's currently pacing around the kitchen, giving me the evil eye with his hands on his hips."

"Yeah you better go. Don't want to make him mad," I chuckled. "Tell him Liam and I say hi."

"Will do. See ya, Grace! Say hi to Liam for us too!"

"Bye Leah!"

I ended the call and returned to Liam.

"That's fantastic, Grace! I heard your whole conversation with Leah." He chuckled. "Leah better get used to Harry. Louis might be the sass master, but Harry's pretty skilled at the art too."

"I'll warn her," I giggled in reply. "So should we announce the news?"

We sat next to each other on the sofa and pulled our our phones. I opened my twitter app and typed a message.

"Hey everybody! So happy to announce I'll be having a show this Sunday at the Studio at Webster Hall in NYC! I know it's last minute but tickets will be available tonight for $15. if you'll be in the area I'd love to see you there! xx"

I showed the tweet to Liam. "Sound ok?"

He nodded. "It's great." I hit the tweet button. "Now we just have to hope people buy the tickets."

"Now you just sound ridiculous," Liam rolled his eyes at me. I picked up a couch pillow and smacked it with him jokingly.

"Says the mega superstar who has sold out Wembley Stadium. We're on slightly different levels of fame here."

"Sorry, sorry," Liam held up his hands as if to surrender. I just smirked at him.

I glanced down at my phone. The tweet had 15,000 retweets!

"@kathgracemusic I can't wait to come!!!"

"Can you do a show in Texas???"

"@kathgracemusic WHY ISN'T THERE A MEET AND GREET :("

"Maybe people are actually gonna come!" I exclaimed out loud. I just couldn't contain my excitement at the reactions to the show news.

I got a mention from Liam.

"Hows everyonnnnne! @kathgracemusic is doing a show this weekend and it would be great if you guys could support her ;)"

"Aww, thanks Li." I told him.

"Anything for you, Grace."

"Do you think we could add a meet and greet? People really seem to want one,"

"Sure! If you don't mind smiling for a loooot of photos."

"It would be like a dream come true to get to meet people!"

I shot Leah a quick text. She replied almost immediately

You're lucky Harry's in the bathroom. A meet and greet sounds good! I'll add it on. And maybe we should sell merch... I'll have a design company create you a logo or something. Gotta go!

Yay! A show, a meet and greet, and a personalized design. Could I ask for anything better?

Now all we had to do was wait for the tickets to go on sale.

So... Some exciting news for Grace! Hope you guys like how the story's going.

Thank you for reading-I love you all:D
