In Perfect Harmony

Grace Masciale is a young waitress trying to get by on her meager salary in busy NYC. Her true passion is music, so she works hard playing open mics and doing whatever possible to "make it" as a musician. When Grace meets Liam Payne, she is thrown into a life in the spotlight. Can she manage a relationship with Liam, while attempting to follow her own dreams?

22. Party

Grace's POV

I woke up to Liam attempting to slide his arm out from behind me on the couch.

"What's going on, babe?" I asked groggily, still half-asleep.

"There was a knock on the door, G," Liam replied, chuckling. "You do remember we're having company tonight, right?"

"Oh geez! Now I do," I replied, getting off the sofa and walking over to answer the door.

"Hey guys!" I greeted Louis and Eleanor, who stood in the doorway. "Come on in!"

"It's so nice to see you again, Grace," Eleanor replied as Liam and Louis got to talking about something amongst themselves.

"You too! I spend so much time with the boys and I never get to see you and Perrie!"

"I know! We all have crazy lives at the moment. You've been writing the album, Perrie's been in the studio for Little Mix..."

I nodded in agreement. "So what have you been up to?"

"I've been done with uni for a couple years, but it's been hard to find a job with Louis' busy schedule... We're constantly moving around."

"I bet you'll be able to find something that works for your lifestyle," I told her reassuringly.

"I sure hope so."

Within the next ten minutes, Niall, Zayn, Perrie, Harry and Leah all arrived.

"Grace!" Niall exclaimed as he burst through the door, running over and tackling me.

"What, Niall?" I said from underneath him, struggling to breath as he pinned me to the ground.

"I KNOW!" I replied. "I'm kind of in need of some air to breathe, though, if I want to be alive on Sunday."

"Oops, sorry," Niall stood up and held out a hand to help me do the same.

"Wait, why don't we know about this show?" Zayn looked confused.

"I just announced it this evening, on twitter."

"Ooooh, that explains it. Good for you, Grace!" Zayn smiled at me.

"Yes, that's fantastic!" Perrie added.

Louis and Eleanor gave me similar congratulatory comments, and Niall gave me a big bear hug. Harry and Leah already knew about Sunday, but they congratulated me again anyway. It made me so happy to see everyone seem so genuinely excited for me; it was like my own little fan base. I had only known the group for about a week, but they already felt like family; a family that would stick by each other through thick and thin.

"So where's the show, love?" Louis asked. I told everyone about the venue and the added meet and greet.

"That reminds me, Grace, what do you think of this?" Leah pulled out her phone to show me a design that said 'Grace' in a fancy signature kind of way.

"Ooh I love it! No Masciale?" I replied.

(A/N it's pronounced mash-elli if you weren't sure)

"I wanted to talk to you about that. How would you feel about having just Grace as your stage name? Not that I don't like your last name... I just thought it would be easier for everyone to pronounce, and it could be really cool and sleek. Like Grace in this design on your album and stuff."

I thought about that for a moment. Going by just my first name... was that a good idea? I shrugged. What the heck. People would hopefully like my music; my name shouldn't be overanalyzed.

"Yeah, I think that'll work!" I grinned. Things were finally starting to come together.

"Yay! I'm managing the next big superstar, the one and only Grace." I couldn't help laughing at the way Leah said my name, like it was glamorous or something. Liam walked behind me and put his arms around my waist.

"I love it, babe," he whispered in my ear as he kissed the top of my head. I was so distracted by Liam that I didn't even notice that he was holding me around the waist; something I normally would have been really uncomfortable about.

I looked at my watch. It was about 8:40.

"We better get to work on the decorations. And the ticket sale starts at 9! OH MY GOSHHHHHHHHHH!" I completely lost all self-control as I began running around the room. This whole ticket thing was gonna be the death of me. When I finally stopped my craziness, I felt every eye in the room staring at me, so I grinned sheepishly and looked down at my feet. One thing they needed to learn; Grace Masciale had a crazy-hyper side.

"OH MY GOSH!" Louis broke the silence as he began imitating my outburst. I couldn't help literally rolling on the floor laughing as he raced around the room the way I had, running up to Liam and screaming in his face, which in turn made everyone crack up as Liam was caught by surprise. Louis soon ran out of energy and collapsed on the couch.

Zayn spoke up. "Now that we've all had our excitement, how about we make the banner?"

I turned to Harry. "You guys brought the stuff, right?"

"Yup," Harry replied. "We got a roll of white paper and a bunch of markers and streamers to decorate. It's in the bag on the kitchen table."

I retrieved the bag and handed the paper to Zayn. "You're artistic, so maybe you should get us started. In the meantime, I'm going to get my laptop out." I turned to everyone else in the room. "There's some soda and chips, so help yourself. And Niall, remember to share please." I grinned at the concept of telling a 25 year-old to share the food.

I grabbed my laptop out of my room and returned to the sofa, where everyone had made themselves comfortable. The apartment was tiny, so I plopped down on the floor in front. After logging on, I went on the ticket website, and pulled up my Twitter page.

"hey everybody! tickets for my show go on sale in 15 minutes! so excited!!! xx"

Seconds later, I got 5 verified mentions, and one from Eleanor. I looked up and saw everyone except Zayn on their phones. The good boy was hard at work on the poster; we had just kind of abandoned him. Oops.

"Mixers! @kathgracemusic is havin a show on Sunday in NYC, come to support her if you can! love her -Perrie xx"

"@kathgracemusic is absolutely lovely so you should definitely buy tickets for her show this weekend!"

"it would be great if everyone could come to @kathgracemusic show on Sunday. it will be fantastic."

"If you come to @kathgracemusic show on Sunday I will love you a lot :)"

"@kathgracemusic can put on one heck of a show! come on Sunday t see!"

"Everybodyyyyyy! @kathgracemusic show is Sunday, tickets on sale tonight, please support my amazing gf. she has so much talent and the world needs to see xx"

"You guys are all so sweet! Thank you so much!" I exclaimed, looking up from my phone.

"Not a problem, Grace."  Now it was Perrie who spoke up. "We all know what it's like, just trying to get your name out to the world. If it's something we can do, we want to help."

"I appreciate that, Perrie. Everyone has been so sweet and welcoming to me, and it means the world."

Zayn looked up from the poster. "Glad you two are getting along." He grinned as he made eye contact with Perrie. I glanced at her, and saw that she wore the same dazed look on her face. What people were saying was true; the pair were still madly in love.

We spent the next 14 minutes chatting about silly things; studio incidents, how the songs were coming, stuff like that. Niall brought our attention back to the show.

"Guys, one minute," he announced in his adorable Irish accent as he looked at his watch.

We all gathered around the laptop, as I burst out laughing.

"What are we even doing? Waiting around to see if anyone buys tickets to the show? I feel like we're teenage fangirls waiting for the minute that tickets to go on sale to see our favorite artist." I sat on the floor and stretched out my legs.

Liam spoke up. "No, silly, we're seeing how fast it takes for the tickets to sell out!"

I rolled my eyes at him. "Haha, very funny, Li. Sell out. That's like asking Niall to fast for a day."

Niall pretended to be hurt. "Hey, if I really had to I would. It's not impossible. Eh, maybe it is.... I mean the food, not the show..." He trailed off as he pondered the highly-serious situation.

I shrugged as I giggled at Niall's response. "I'll stay positive, but sell-out is a far stretch. Let's just pray for 50 people." I looked at the clock; it was 9:03. A phone buzzed from somewhere in the room, and I saw Leah pulled out her cell. She stared at the screen before unlocking it and typing something. When she made eye contact with me, she had a look of pure shock on her face.

"Grace, you just sold out your first show in sixty seconds."

Oooh! It's sold out!

Sorry it's a short and kinda boring filler! I'm trying to write as much as I can so that the story can progress and I can really start with the more interesting plot twists and stuff.

What do you think is gonna happen next? I love predictions!!!

Question: If Grace was to have her own fan base, what would her fans be called?

Thank you all for supporting me so much, it really means the world (and I know I say that every chapter but only because it's true!)

Remember to Comment/Favorite/Like :)
