Dead Dawn *Sequel to Dead End*

* A Sequel to Dead End*

KC is moving on fast. The world is becoming a new place, but with the help of her new mate Tanya, and longest friend, Katie, fighting against the infection is the best thing they can do.
They have to move along fast. They travel to a camp, with fresh food and water, but when something happens on the way, Tanya and her brother, KC and Katie are wandering, and when night time falls, will they all wake up alive?

2. New Name

The early beginnings of twilight began to show. Small, silver stars formed in the sky, twinkling brightly, almost as if they were trying to light the way for KC and her friends. They were on the road now, with a small breeze brushing by, as they drove down the long road in the middle of corn fields. It was a creepy setting, and KC was scared, but she was also fired up, ready to hurt anybody that dared attack them. Katie had taught her the basics with guns, preferably shotguns, and now she had the gun at hand, loaded and ready to be fired.

'Are you okay, there?' Katie asked, giving KC a small sideways glance.

KC nodded in reply, jiggling the gun in her arms. She practised aiming, and then dropped the gun back so she had full control over it.

'Man, you look so badass' Katie commented, a smile crawling onto her face. She then looked over at Tanya, and Tanya's younger brother, Kyle. He was curled up in Tanya's arms, blood crusted around the deep slash just over the top of his right eyesbrow. He didn't look to bothered though, so that was okay.

'Approaching the gas station. Anybody want to bail and grab some food or anything?'

Katie stuck her hand up voluntarily. When the time came, and the station approached, Katie jumped, rolled and stood, running towards the gas station with all the strength she had left. She kept pumping her arms and legs until the reached the door. It smelled of decay now, full on. Obviously the body was still there, but she ignored the horrid thought, and turned to the food. She grabbed things that would last long, grabbing a few bottles of water while she was at it. She even spotted the basket KC had left!

Then she left, and hopped back into the car that had stopped a few metres away.

'Good job' the man commented.

'Are we stopping for the night?' Katie asked, without bothering to reply with something nice, such as a thank you.

'No. We should keep going. It's going to take at least another day, maybe two, to reach our destination. Can you guys hold up that long?'

KC bit her lip and cursed inwardly, but nodded anyway. Tanya and Katie agreed too. The man (who's name they still hadn't caught) didn't even bother with Kyle. As if Katie could read her mind, she asked, 'So what's your name then?'

He hit the gas, and they thundered down the deserted road. The engine roared.

'My name's Jaden.'
