Different from the Rest

Kady used to have a normal life. She loved to shop, listen to music, and play field hockey, she was on the reserve list for the 2016 Olympics in Rio. She was even lucky enough to meet One Direction at one of their concerts and she kept in touch with them. Liam and Kady developed feelings for each other and started casually dating. That was until Kady discovered she had a life-threatening sickness. She was in the hospital for months, but overcame the sickness. But, the illness left her with a learning disability and now all her dreams are shattered and she has to rebuild her life. She must go from black to white but must learn there are shades of grey in the middle which are needed for healing.

8. That Night

Liam's POV:

I brought Kady into a hug. A brown curl in her hair teased my face. I guess Niall's idea of telling Samara about his brother's wedding didn't work out because we could hear the soft sound of his voice singing Stole My Heart. When we pulled away, I stared into Kady's blue eyes. This was the girl I loved, the girl that I never stopped thinking about. I'm glad to have her back. At that moment I felt like kissing her, and I guess Kady could sense what I was feeling. She said, "Just friends."
I nodded but in my head I thought, with benefits. At that moment, Samara started wailing which completely broke the moment. Kady rushed upstairs to help Niall. It must be so hard with Samara, she's like Kady's kid. Kady cooks for her, cleans for her, does everything a mother would do. I wonder what Kady thinks about having kids when she's exposed to one. When she comes back down, I can't hold my curiosity, "Kady, what do you think about having kids?"
She's sitting at the table and has a puzzled look on her face, "What's that supposed …to mean?"
"I'm just wondering," I say.
"I don't want …them, they are messy, annoying, and …hard to deal with," she says with a large exhale at the end. There's a strange silence between us and then Niall pops in doing some sort of Irish jig. Kady's mouth is agape and her eyes are wide in confusion. Ummmmmm, that's interesting.
"Okayyyyy, do …you guys want to… watch Grown …Ups?" Kady asks, clearly wanting Niall to stop doing whatever he's doing.
"Okay, Samara's asleep upstairs did you like my jig?" Niall asks. Kady rolls her eyes and laughs to herself and I feel like doing the same. Niall and I race to the couch while she starts the popcorn and puts in the DVD. She hands Niall and I our own bags of popcorn. Niall giggles and I have no idea why, he's just a giggling kind of person.

Kady's POV:

The movie was amazing. The boys were laughing so hard, especially at the part when they called one of the guys "an elderly, gay, Jonas Brother." Right after that part Niall fell right to sleep on the leather chair. It was just me and Liam on the couch. At the end of the movie, I pretended to be asleep. Liam shut off the TV and whispered, "Kady, are you awake?"
I gave him no reply. He sighed and put my head in his lap. He stroked my hair, curl by curl. I felt the warmth of his body and his stomach moving in and out, in and out. He put his mouth right by my ear and it made me shiver. With the voice of an angel he whispered, "I loved you all along and I wish I could kiss you right now."
Shivers ran up my spine and I smiled. I wish I could stay in the moment forever.

The next morning I woke up to the chirping of the birds and the smell of bacon being made in the next room. Somehow I woke up with my head rested on Liam's shoulder and me sitting on his lap. My arms were around his neck and his strong, muscular, arm was around my thin waist. He was mumbling in his sleep. I gently moved his arm off my waist. I could see the tattoo that read, 'all I ever wanted, nothing I ever needed' in script. I put my feet on the floor slowly not to wake him and tip toed into the kitchen. Niall was there making pancakes, hash browns, and bacon.
"Morning Kady. Nice slippers," Niall said, a hint of sarcasm in his voice. I looked down self-consciously at my feet. There were my blue, happy Cookie Monster slippers that I absolutely adored.
"Morning and …thanks. You, you remembered…pancakes!" I exclaimed. Pancakes are my absolute favorite breakfast food, and I doubted anyone remembered.
"How could I forget, you would eat like twenty of these in five minutes," he laughed. I went over, Cookie Monster slippers and all, and hugged him, "Thank you."
Liam walked in rubbing his eyes, he must've just gotten up, "What's that burning smell, oh it's Niall's cooking."
The three of us laughed, it was just like old times. Samara still wasn't down, that's strange, she's usually up at four in the morning. The hash browns and bacon were still cooking, so Niall served the pancakes. He put two on Liam and his plate, and about twenty on mine for old times sake.
"Niall James H-Horan!" I laughed. His blue eyes twinkled as he started to run away from me who was chasing him, "Oh look, Cookie Monster is now called Pancake Monster 'cause she's chasing after the pancakes!"
I was too exhausted from just waking up to keep chasing Niall. The real reason I was chasing Niall was not for the pancakes, but for putting so many on my plate. Just let him keep on dreaming. I plop on the couch where Liam and I were sleeping before. Niall insults me a little more, but I'm not getting up. Eventually he and Liam give up and they bring in the pancakes. I dig in as Niall punches my right arm and Liam punches my left.
