But when a cougar attacks Cora and she is saved by a siren named Tuari, they go through the challenges of the water curse together. Even though Cora and Tuari live together and they know each other quite well, does Cora know Tuari well enough? Is Tuari all she says she is? Will Cora ever put the pieces of the mysterious attacks together or will it lead to a place she doesnt want to go?

36. Kota

When I walked into Cora's room she had a huge smile on her face.

"Hey beautiful, you look chipper did you have a good day?"

She looked up and her smile half disappeared, "Oh yah it was alright. Can I, um, talk to you about something?"

I felt nervous and sat next to her, "What is it are you okay?"

"oh yes absolutely" She nodded her head, "So do you remember that guy that dropped me off a while ago?"

"Yah," The memory of Cora and that guy kissing at the beach flashed in my mind, "What about him?"

She grinned, "So he called me today and I went and saw him at Lucton Bay. We were chatting and he said he can help me."

I got up and faced her, "Wait what? He can help you how?"

She looked down, "Um. He's a werewolf."

I scoffed, "Oh I see, so because he's a supernatural thing and Im just a human he is better equipped to help you."

She got up and grabbed my hands, "Kota its not that ok? He has some extra knowledge that we dont and I dont want to die yet. So Im willing to have his help."

I nodded and turned away, "Cora common he probably has a thing for you too."

"All I want is his help. Thats it. I want to be better and I dont want you to be scared of me." She put her arms around my waist from behind me, "Just meet him ok? He suggested we all meet so breakfast tomorrow here okay?"

I sighed, and then she rested her head against my back, "Please Kota, I want you're support as we all fix this."

"Okay fine."

"I love you!"

I felt my face go hot and I turned around to look at her fragile face, "I love you too" I smiled and gave her a kiss.

The next morning I woke up to the smell of pancakes and bacon and no Cora next to me in bed. I quickly got dressed and headed downstairs to find Cora cooking up a storm with the biggest smile on her face.

"Good morning Sunshine," I said breaking her out of her trance.

"Morning!" She said giving me a big kiss, "Leigh should be here any minute so have a seat and you can dish up."

A ring at the door and my stomach sink.

A tall guy with dark hair and ratty clothing stood in the doorway, "Kota this is Leigh." Cora said smiling like I've never seen before.

"Hey Man," Leigh said extending his hand, "Nice to finally meet you."

"Yah you too," I replied, "Ready for breakfast? Cora is a wicked cook."

"Sounds good to me."

We all sat at the table Cora trying to get the two of us to talk.

"So Cora says you're able to help her?"

"Yah I guess you could say that. I found Some old books at my grandmas."

"So some old story books are supposed to save my girlfriend from dying?"
Leigh laughed, "My entire family are werewolves so the books she had were legends and if I were you Id probably want to check them out before dismissing probably one of the only ways to save your girl."

"Hey Guys?" Cora said interrupting, "I do have a say in what happens as this is about me."

Leigh and I shut up and ate our food. After the meal we sat in the living room and looked at the books Leigh brought from his grandmothers and found a couple interesting things that may be helpful.

"So when are we going to do this?" Leigh said interrupting our reading.

"Do what?" Cora asked looking from him to me.

"Swim..?" Both Cora and My eyes widened, "The books all say that the best way to start is swimming so why not start now?"

Cora chuckled and got up, "I think that we can start another day Leigh but thank you so much for all the info. Am I okay to keep these books for a bit just to look them over?"

Leigh's crooked smile appeared as he looked at Cora, "Of course, have them for as long as you want."

She smiled, "So Ill take a swim when Im feeling up to it and let you know how it goes."

"Wait a minute," Leigh chimed in, "I think I should be there for that."

I looked over at him, "Why do YOU need to be there? If she wants to swim she can swim in peace."

He rolled his eyes and gestured to Cora, "I just mean that if something happened it would probably be helpful to have someone else there."

"Who says she wont have anyone there?" Both Leigh and I standing up and in each others faces.

Cora stepped in between us, "I will decide what I want to do thank you very much." She eyed Leigh, "Thanks for coming for breakfast but I think you need to go now Leigh."

He nodded and then gave Cora a hug looking right at me, she patted his back lightly, not actually embracing him and then left.

When the door shut, we both let out a big sigh and she turned to me, "Its cute of you to be protective Kota, but he is just trying to help so try to get along ok?"

I just gave her a nod and then left. Leigh was doing this on purpose and I wanted to know if Cora knew or not but after that I wasn't up to chatting about it. I left Cora with her new found siren knowledge and went home.
