Counting Stars

16 year old Lela Hemmings has never felt real love. Her father died when she was 15 and her mother died giving birth to Lela. Lela lives with her Aunt. She is depressed, insecure, and shy. She walks the halls with her head down and her mouth shut. She is bullied though. Pushed. Laughed at. Judged. Due to her shyness, she literally doesn't talk to people. At all. As a result, she is afraid to stand up for herself. Then someone walked into her life. She didn't want them to stay, but she didn't want them to leave. Can someone as simple as a person, as simple as a boy, change her life?

7. I still cant tell you.

I Still Can't Tell You.

I sit in my room on my bed. I only talk to Ashton.

Nobody but Ashton.

My bedroom door opens and my Aunt and Ashton walk in.

"How do you communicate with eachother?" My aunt asks. I shrug. Ashton smirks. She looks up at him. He shrugs. She rolls her eyes and leaves.

The door closes and we wait to see her shadow leave.

Finally, when she is gone, I run up to Ashton and kiss him.

"Hi." He sigh.

We were extremely close.

"Hey." I sigh.

He puts his hands on my waist and rest his forehead on my forehead.

I kiss him one more time before I go back to my bed.

He sits next to me and hold my hand. Our fingers intertwine.

My aunt walks upstairs and opens my door.

We quickly let go of eachothers hands.

"I'm going to the store." She says. She leaves.

"Um, Lela, don't hate me, but can we talk?" He asks.

I bite my lip knowing what he wants to talk about.

"I told you. No one can know!" I snap.

"I know! But you keep getting stressed at the slightest mention of the Jessica girl! I don't like it!"

"Fine you want to know! My mom is dead," What am I doing. My eyes are watering. "My dad is dead, and, I cant tell you the rest." I sigh. I could feel the tears coming. He pulls me into a hug. He kisses the top of my heard as he runs his fingers through my hair.

"My mom is in prison." He says. My aunt walked in.

"I forgot to te-" She froze. I didn't look up. She saw I was crying. She walked around to the other side of the bed and moved my brown hair out of my face.

"Oh, sweetie, It will be okay." She says. She leans over by Ashton.

"Thank you for being here for her." She whispered.

I cant believe I said that much.
