5. A meeting with death

I went to visit Kevin's grave just after Charlie died. I needed to talk to Kevin. When I got there he was already waiting for me, he held out his hand and I took it then we started walking.

I spoke while he stayed silent.

"Charlie's dead but I guess you already know. I bet you gave him the best belated birthday party Heaven has ever seen. I miss him, I miss you too. We all do.

I'm sorry I didn't see you sooner but I haven't been happy for a while.

It was going to be small his wedding, I mean not many people. We had an invitation for you and Jake but I guess that doesn't matter anymore.

At first; after you died me and Charlie sat on the hill then we did the same after Jake died but we knew it wouldn't make a difference. You were still dead, you wouldn't come back. Cris hasn't really gone back to normal, I think he expects either one of you will walk through the door. It's sad. The first 12th day picnic after you died was the worst, when Charlie died we cancelled the next one because it was only 4 days after. And Jake died on the 18th so we had a while to recover before the picnic. Plus he never did 12th day picnics" Every 12th day of each month we had a massive gathering in a field near my house, all our friends came and we had a giant picnic.

We walked back to Kevin's grave and he hugged me then we kissed.

"I'll come back and visit really soon...i'll bring Cris if you bring Charlie and Jake?"

Kevin sighed and shook his head then opened his mouth and spoke.

"It doesn't work like that, go to their graves, see them that way. I'll tell them you said you'll visit"

I nodded trying hard to keep my tears back, we kissed again then he vanished.
