After 18 Years

Darcy Tanner ran away from home on her 18th birthday, in search of her father. A little over 18 years before, her mother- Ariel- found out that she was pregnant with Harry Styles' child. She fled to America, scared to end the career that he enjoyed so much. Now, when Darcy forces Harry and Ariel to reunite will they fall back into love? Will revisiting their youth be painful or the thing that makes them happiest? Will everything be the same again, even after 18 years apart?

20. Together

“Hey ladies, do you wanna come out swimming with us?” Louis asked, appearing in the kitchen. A grin was stretched across his face. Various agreements came from around the table.

“I'm going to stay in and wash dishes, but I'll come out when I'm done.” I replied.

“Are you sure?” Aleisha asked.

“Yeah, you guys go ahead, I'll be done quick.” I assured. I got up and walked over to the sink. Everybody else left the kitchen. So many dishes... Okay, no more by hand. I opened the dishwasher next to the sink. I began to wash off all the dishes before putting them in the washer.

“Hello Love.” Harry grinned, suddenly beside me. He wore only his swim trunks. I smiled at him.

“Hi.” I said.

“Can I help you?” He offered.

“If you'd like.” I nodded. He began to wash off dishes in the other sink, then place them in the dishwasher.

“All the kids adore Darcy.” He smirked.

“Good, that's good. I hope she wasn't stressing about that...” I trailed off.

“She seemed pretty confident that they would all love her. And, um, by the way, I picked a little something up for you...” He laughed, pulling a bag of goldfish crackers out of a cupboard that I couldn't reach. I laughed as he handed them to me.

"You remembered!" I laughed again.

"Of course I did. How does someone not remember something that strange..." He teased. When I was a young adult I used to buy goldfish crackers whenever I got stressed. For some reason they comforted me... Weird, I know. But we all have our quirks.

“It's not that strange...” I mumbled.

"I was on the road for a long time Ariel. I saw a lot of things, and this, definitely falls into the 'strange' category." Harry smirked as he put the last dish in the washer.

"Fine, I admit, it's weird. But like you said, it's hard to forget. I take that as a good thing." I smiled. He snorted another laugh, but then his amusement faded.

“Darcy mentioned something to me earlier...” He said, looking uncomfortable. He'd just completely changed the subject.

“What did she say?” I asked, feeling a step behind after his mood change.

“It's pretty big, what I'm thinking about doing. And she only mentioned this in the passing, but I really want her to be as happy as possible here....” He went on.

“What are you thinking about doing?” I prodded, super curious at this point.

“She said she misses her boyfriend, and I was thinking about flying him out here....” He finished quietly.

“You're kidding right?” I questioned, prepared to laugh at his joke when he did. But he didn't start laughing...

“A month is a long time to be away from someone, and I thought it would be nice if he could visit for a couple days.” He shrugged.

“I suppose it's a reasonable idea. She'd love it, but I don't know if I would...” I got quieter as I said the last part.

“What don't you like?” He asked.

“I told you, I'm not a huge fan of this guy. I don't want Darcy hurt, and if they distance from each other it's not the end of the world.” I explained, feeling a bit guilty at my words.

“I really want to meet him Ariel. I want him to know that Darcy has a father that will stand up for her if the time comes.” He pleaded.

“I'm sure he's heard all about you over phone calls...” I attempted to think of reasons why Eric shouldn't come. But I could see that this meant a lot to Harry, so I gave up.

“I just want to meet the boy, and stare him down a little bit.” He chuckled.

“How many days would you invite him here for?” I asked.

“I was thinking, that when everyone goes home, we can have him here for 2-3 days tops.” He smiled. He knew I was giving in.

“Fine, but I'll have you know he's pretty scared of me already.” I grinned.

“You are probably the least scary person I've ever met.” Harry smirked, not believing me.

“Not when it comes to my daughter. If that boy makes a bad decision, he'll have an angry me, to deal with.” I chuckled. Eric wouldn't even touch Darcy in front of me, and the only part of her he looked at was her face.

“Whatever you say sweetheart. I'll run the idea by Darcy.” He grinned.

“She'll love it. I'll meet you outside in a few minutes.” I smiled.

“You should wear that same suit you wore last time. Just saying...” Harry smirked before he left. I rolled my eyes as I walked up the stairs to my room. I did end up changing into the same bikini I had worn last time. Only because I didn't have anything else. I walked out to the pool, where the kids and the dads splashed around like maniacs. The mom's sat on lawn chairs beside the pool. I was the only one here, over 18, that was in a bikini. All of the moms' eyes widened when I sat down on the end beside Eleanor.

“Who's is that?” Perrie asked.

“Mine... Darcy gave it to me.” I muttered. Now I felt self conscious... Aleisha and El suddenly giggled, Sameerah and Perrie soon joining in.

“What?” I asked.

“Harry just got tackled by Louis, Niall, and a bunch of kids because he was staring at you.” El whispered to me. I smiled, feeling my cheeks turn red.

“He doesn't look too bad himself...” I mumbled, watching him come back out of the water and turn the kids on Lou.

“He's worked out a lot since you left. He thought there would be a more likely chance of you coming back if he was in better shape.” Perrie almost whispered.

“Oh...” I said dumbly. I had read that in some of the letters, I didn't know that they knew why he worked out. “He actually told me that...” I murmured. In a letter...

“Is Darcy going to university soon?” Sameerah asked, changing the subject.

“Yes, in a few weeks.” I answered.

“Where?” Aleisha asked.

“MIT” I smiled, proud of my daughter.

“That's incredible Ariel. Wow...” Eleanor said. I nodded. It was amazing. Darcy was amazing. We sat by the pool for a while, watching the dads and the kids play. Darcy looked so happy...

Now that all the stress had gone away, I was really happy that the boys and their families came to stay. They were only staying for the next couple days, I wish they were staying longer... After about an hour, Harry jumped out and came over to us. He kneeled down next to me.

“Hello Ariel.” He smiled.

“Hello.” I smiled back.

“I like your tattoo.” He commented, moving the side of my swim bottoms up a little to completely expose my 'Harry' tattoo. I moved his hand away and put the strap of my bottoms back in place.

“Thanks. Darcy noticed it the other day.” I replied. He chuckled.

“I'm sure you're wondering why I came over here.” He said slowly.

“A little bit, yes.” I agreed. He for sure hadn't gotten out of the pool just to talk to me about my tattoo. He nodded, then picked me up out of my chair. Aleisha, Sameerah, Perrie, and Eleanor giggled behind me. He walked toward the pool.

“This again?” I groaned.

“Yes, well, none of you are going to get in by yourselves, so I'd thought I would help out.” He grinned. He leaned down and pecked me on the lips before throwing me in. I kept a hold of his arm, so he lost balance and came tumbling into the water with me.

“You are trouble, aren't you?” Harry laughed, pushing his hair out of his face as we resurfaced. I grinned.

“You should not sound surprised.” I giggled. I stayed in the pool after that. One by one, each of the moms joined us. It was great fun. Everyone was exhausted afterward. All the kids, and the parents, would sleep well that night...
