After 18 Years

Darcy Tanner ran away from home on her 18th birthday, in search of her father. A little over 18 years before, her mother- Ariel- found out that she was pregnant with Harry Styles' child. She fled to America, scared to end the career that he enjoyed so much. Now, when Darcy forces Harry and Ariel to reunite will they fall back into love? Will revisiting their youth be painful or the thing that makes them happiest? Will everything be the same again, even after 18 years apart?

6. Breakfast

I woke up to the smell of breakfast being cooked. Mmm... I showered quickly in the huge shower- which honestly could have been considered it's own room. I threw on some old jean shorts that I'd packed. They were from when I met Harry. I was amazed that they still fit. I looked in the mirror, realizing just how short they were. And how tight...

“Wow...” I mouthed. Had I really worn these? Like, out in public?? I would never in a million years let Darcy wear these! Oh well... I didn't change out of them. I then threw on one of the shirts that Darcy had bought me for Christmas last year, it still had a tag on it. It was black, and when I put it on I realized that it had no straps. It went down really low on my chest, and it showed my belly button. It was practically a strapless bra. Okay, that crossed the line, I was not wearing that. I did my hair quickly and was about to change out of the shirt when someone knocked at the door.

“Come in.” I said, thinking it was Darcy. Harry walked in with a plate of eggs and toast. He saw me and dropped the plate, cursing as it hit the ground and went all over.

“Sorry... I don't know what just happened.” He said, shaking his head as he got on his hands and knees to pick things up. I hurried over and helped him.

“At least the plate didn't break.” I joked, trying to lighten the atmosphere in the room.

“Yeah, definitely.” He agreed. As we cleaned up he kept glancing up at me. When it was all back on the plate we both stood up. “Sorry, uh, that was the breakfast I made for you. But there's plenty more downstairs.” He said.

“That's fine, I'll be right down, I'm just going to change.” I said.

“Well, if it's worth anything I think you look very nice, in that.” He muttered, hesitantly.

“Thanks, but it's a bit much, or should I say a bit too little...” I chuckled. He laughed nervously.

“Okay, see you in a minute.” He said. He took one last peek at me before he left. I took the shirt off and threw on an older Elvis t-shirt. Darcy liked that one. She was a huge Elvis fan.

As I walked down the stairs and into the kitchen the smell of eggs and bacon got stronger. When I walked in Darcy was eating, fully showered and dressed, Harry sat across from her, and they were talking. Next to Harry was a plate full of eggs, bacon and toast. In an empty spot, waiting for me. I sat beside him and ate. Everything was... delicious!

“When did you learn how to cook?” I asked smirking.

“I've always been a natural. Surely you remember that.” He grinned.

“What I remember was burnt pizza and going out for food when your fancy homemade dinners didn't work out.” I teased.

“Well, my mum may or may not have talked me through breakfast this morning on the phone...” He laughed.

“I knew it!” I exclaimed.

“I said may not have...” He said grinning.

“Okay, okay, I'll take it. You should have your mum talk you through every meal.” I said, biting a piece of bacon.

“I might just do that because these are actually really good eggs.” He laughed. As I laughed with him I realized that Darcy was still watching us. Harry realized only a second after me. We both looked at her.

“Sorry if I messed up your conversation with your dad Darc...” I said, blushing a bit.

“Yeah, uh, where were we?” Harry asked. Darcy was sitting back grinning at the two of us.

“I forget.” She said to Harry.

“What are you grinning about?” I demanded.

“You two.” She answered.

“What about us?” Harry asked.

“You guys seem so natural together. So happy. It's really enlightening to watch.” She smiled. Harry and I looked at each other, surprise in both our expressions.

“Well, that's good I guess.” Harry smiled at me. Darcy got up and put her dishes in the sink.

“Hey mum, can I go explore London? And shop a little?” She asked walking over to me.

“Sure, I think I have some money you can use for a taxi...” I said standing up, planning on getting my purse and giving her some money. Harry put his hand on my shoulder as he stood up too.

“Don't worry about it.” Harry said. Darcy and I followed him into the living room. He grabbed a set of keys off the wall, one of many. “What's your favorite color Darcy?” He asked.

“Blue.” She answered. He then replaced the keys he had, and grabbed another set.

“It's for the blue Ferrari. Be safe.” He said, grabbing a wad of cash from his wallet and handing her both things. She stared open mouthed at the cash and the keys.

“This is way way too much...” She said quickly counting part of it.

“No, my treat. Happy late birthday.” He said smiling.

“Thank you so much!” She said, hugging Harry quickly then running out to find the car.

“How much did you give her?” I asked.

“Few hundred to a thousand maybe...” He said shrugging.

“No wonder she thought it was too much. I think she was expecting 50 pounds tops.” I guess I wasn't totally surprised by his gesture.

“I'm sure she'll have fun then.” He grinned.

“She left because she wanted us to be alone. She wants me to break it off with Dan.” I said quietly.

“Her and I have a lot in common.” He smiled.

“I haven't spoken to him in days. He hasn't even called...” I said.

“He has no clue what he's missing...” Harry said. We sat down next to each other on the couch.

“So what do you want to do today?” He asked.

“I don't know...” I said.

“Okay, let's brainstorm. Pretty much all going out in public is out.” He said.

“True...” I agreed.

“So that doesn't leave much...” He muttered.

“You're right. But this house it massive. We could play hide and seek.” I laughed.

“You know, if no one recognized us when we went out they wouldn't take our picture.” He said, after snickering at my bad joke.

“I still don't think it's a good idea...” I shook my head.

“Okay, then we stay here. Would you wanna go swimming?” He asked.

“I didn't bring a swimsuit...” I murmured.

“Swim in your clothes, I don't care. If it makes you feel better I will too.” He said.

“Okay, that sounds fun.” I smiled.

“Will you walk out to get the mail with me first?” He asked.

“Sure” I said. We strolled out to the mailbox together. Before we turned to go back in, I noticed a reflection come from one of the bushes by his driveway. Then I saw a person run behind a car parked on the street with a big black camera.

“Dammit!” I exclaimed.

“What??” Harry asked, shocked at my outburst.

“There are two guys with cameras in the street!” I explained. A lens popped out from behind the car for a few seconds, then disappeared again. Harry saw it this time.

“I had no idea they'd be out here Ariel. They never come to the house anymore.” He mumbled.

“Let's just go before they take anymore pictures!” I said. Harry nodded and tucked the mail under his arm. We sprinted back to the house, bursting through the front door. I fell across the couch, face down. A low groan escaped my lips.

“Are you going to call Dan and explain?” He asked.

“No.” I answered. The word was muffled by the couch.

“Why not?” He asked.

“Because he hasn't called me. So he doesn't care how I'm doing or what I'm doing here.” I said.

“Okay, well, then there's no need to get upset about it right? Let's just go swim, and have some fun.” Harry suggested. I sighed.

“Okay. Let's go swim...” I said getting up. Harry took my hand and led me outside and to the pool...
