The Geek

Zella never thought she would end up with Marcel. Her best friend, Veronica, talked her into going to prom with him. Marcel really wanted a date for the dance, and Zella only said yes because she was going to be paid thirty bucks for it from Veronica. She never thought she would fall in love with him, and she never thought he would completely change.

Marcel grabbed my hand as we walked out the door. I breathed in the fresh air. This is probably the first time I have been outside since I got expelled. There is nothing to do when you don't have anyone around you.

I smiled as we reached the small park.

"Do you come here often?" I ask.

"Um, only when I want to be alone,"

"Yeah, but it seems better with someone," he says looking at me. I smiled as I looked into his eyes.

"I know what you mean. When I was alone I wished I had someone with me, but then I enjoyed being left alone,"

"When were you left alone?"

"When you changed," I whispered. He looked back over to me, with hurt in his eyes.

"I'm really sorry about that. When I showed the real me, I never thought about you. I only thought that I was someone I always wanted to be. I didn't think about what I was doing to some people, I didn't think that I might have hurt you,"

"You were caught up in the moments,"

"Yeah," he said looking down.

"But it doesn't matter. You came back to me, right?"

"What do you mean?"

"You came back to me, when I told you everything. You're still the geek I loved,"

"I'm not a geek,"

"Yes you are, you are Marcel Styles the school geek. Well my geek anyways," he smiled as he looked over to me.

"What was it like?"

"What was what like?"

"To be made fun of everyday?"

"You should know, remember how you were the school geek?"

"Oh yeah, I told you about that. I can't really remember though. It's been like two years,''

"How do you remember all this stuff we talked about? I don't even remember what I had for dinner last night," I said as I let out a little laugh.

"There is nothing in this world I can't forget about you," he said as he turned to me.

"I can't forget anything about you, I just don't remember things that happened before prom. Prom is just like a blur to me,"

"I know,"

"I only remember seeing you and feeling different, slow dancing with you, and you kissing my cheek at the end of the night,"

"Those are things that happened with us,"

"I know. I remember you being a jerk to me too,"

"I regret that,"

"You do?"

"Definitely. It hurts me just to think that I was a jerk towards you. Knowing that I said stuff like how you don't mean anything to me, kills me. I just want to curl up in a ball and die,"

"Yeah," he nodded. I smiled and put my arms around his waist. "What's this for?"

"I don't know, I just wanted to hug you,"

"Here," he picked me up and sat down on a nearby bench, setting me on his lap. I wrapped my legs around him, and put my arms around his neck. He set his hands on my waist.

"Why did you change anyways?"

"After prom, you were talking to me and you said don't listen to anyone that calls you a geek, you are much more than that. When you said that, I realized I needed to show the real me,"

''I get what your saying,"

"Yeah," we sat there in silence. It wasn't an awkward silence, it was good. It gave me enough time to look at very detail of his face. "What are you doing?"

"Looking at your face," he laughed at my answer.

"You know, looking at your features. You are just so, attractive,"

"You're weird. Come on, let's go back to my house or something,"

"Carry me?"

"Yay," he picked me up bridal style and started walking away from the small little park.
