James cares for his country. But he worries about Isobel and that stirred something inside of him which could stir something bigger in the country.

(It is set in the olden days incase that isn't clear in my writing haha, not quite sure what year, but somewhere waaaaay far back like in the 1400s :D)

34. 34.

We have such a lazy afternoon. It's as if I never became queen of the country, as if I never left this little farm house. I lie with George in my arms all afternoon as mother brings us all food and Elijah, Tilly, George and I sit around the fireplace sharing memories. George only wakes up once to be fed, but otherwise he sleeps happily.

I can't stop looking down at him. This is my little baby, he's my responsibility. It's weird not having him inside me, but it's the most amazing thing that he's right there. I always visited people's babies and loved looking after them and babysitting, but then I'd leave and the baby would go back to their parents. But this one is mine and James'.

"Isobel?" I hear James' voice just as dusk reaches.

"In here." I call quietly, my heart throbbing with excitement at the thought of him meeting George for the first time. "Shh, be quiet, the baby is sleeping."

He walks in and lays his eyes on me and George and for the first time in my life, I see him completely and utterly speechless. He just stands there looking at George for a moment and then all of a sudden, a massive grin stretches across his face as he sits down next to me.

"What's his name?" James asks, taking one of the baby's hands.

"George." I whisper.

"That's beautiful." he whispers. "He's beautiful."

"Hold him." I smile, passing the baby to him, gently.

For the first time in a few hours, George opens his eyes. This light is still new to him and he can't do anything but squint up at James, but that's enough to be called amazing.
