James cares for his country. But he worries about Isobel and that stirred something inside of him which could stir something bigger in the country.

(It is set in the olden days incase that isn't clear in my writing haha, not quite sure what year, but somewhere waaaaay far back like in the 1400s :D)

32. 32.

We ride for hours and the pain just gets worse and worse until something awful happens. Water suddenly floods the floor.

"Mother." I gasp. "What's happening?"

"Your water broke." she gasps. "The baby's on it's way. "

"No." I say, panic flooding over me. "No, it's not time yet."

"We're almost at the farm." she says, trying to assure me.

"No!" I yelp. "No, what about my baby?"

"Your baby will be fine." she says, sounding calm but there's an urgency to her voice

We keep riding and every few minutes, the most excruciating pain goes through my torso. It feels like everything is crushing and the baby is just spreading out, breaking all of my ribs. I want to scream but I'm trying to limit stress at the moment. However, once we get to the farm, I can't help it and I just let out the biggest scream of my life. I've never been in so much pain.

Elijah comes running out of our farm house straight away when he hears me and I've never been happier to see anybody in my life.

"What's happening?!" he asks, rushing over.

"Carry her into our farm house, into her bedroom, quick." mother says, pulling Matilda out of the carriage and they both run to set things up for me.

Elijah picks me up with surprising ease considering there's also a tiny human inside me and carries me quickly inside.

"Hello Izzy." he says, smiling as he rushes into the house.

"Hello Elijah." I say, weakly. I feel sick and dizzy and like I'm going to pass out in any minute but my mother tells me to stay away. She removes my clothes and covers me with a blanket and then lets Elijah in, who runs straight to my side to grip onto my hand.

"Tilly go and wait in your old room." Mother says firmly and Tilly scurries off.

"Mother what do I do?" I ask, panicking, still in a lot of pain. I'm already gripping on to Elijah's hand tightly and it's only going to get worse from here.

"Just push. Now. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth and push. Now!"

I do and I feel a shift. My baby is really on it's way. Right now I'm terrified and hurting but I know that soon my baby will be here, hopefully safe and in my arms. I keep pushing and Elijah keeps letting my squeeze his hand and my mum keeps telling me to push and I keep pushing until the sound of everything gets boring.

Then there's a new sound.

The shrill of my baby crying.

"It's a boy!"
