James cares for his country. But he worries about Isobel and that stirred something inside of him which could stir something bigger in the country.

(It is set in the olden days incase that isn't clear in my writing haha, not quite sure what year, but somewhere waaaaay far back like in the 1400s :D)

28. 28.

We have another speech today, for a different part of the city. It goes well and I am accepted again, thank God. Everything is going fine until James and I are walking off stage when I feel the worst pain of my life. I don't even know what's happening, one minute, everything's fine and then the next, a horrible cramp goes all up my torso. It feels like every bone in there is breaking and cutting my skin. Not able to stop, I scream and fall to the ground, in as much of a fetal position as I can, sobbing and crying out for help.

"James." I sob, shakes wracking through my body.

"Isobel." he gasps, coming down to my level. "What's wrong? What's happening?"

I can't explain, I can't speak, I can barely breathe so I just point to my stomach, screaming.

"Oh God." he mutters. "Someone help!"

Margaret rushes out quickly, pushing through the guards but the pain is too much and everything goes black.

I wake up, covered in a cold sweat. Margaret is perched on the edge of my bed, holding a cold cloth to my head. The pain has faded now and the only thing I feel is the baby moving. I sigh, relieved that it's okay.

"Hello." I say to her.

"Hello." she smiles.

"What happened?" I frown.

"I suspect there was a cyst of some sort, somewhere that burst. Very painful but it's all over now. The baby seems fine." she explains gently.

"Where's James?" I ask, suddenly realising he isn't with me.

"I sent him out." Margaret chuckles, fondly. "It was like he was a little boy again, worried about his toys. His eyes were wide and he wouldn't stop asking questions. 'Margaret what's wrong with her? Margaret when is she going to wake up? Margaret when is she going to wake up? Margaret do you think the's in pain?". I had to send him out."

I laugh. "Can he come in he-"

I don't get to finish my sentence because James bursts into the room, a slight sweat on his forehead and a worried look on his face. He rushes over to my bedside, taking my hand.

"Isobel." he breathes. "Are you okay?"

I giggle. "I'm fine. Don't worry."

He smiles, relieved. "I don't want you to do a thing, Izzy, do you hear me?"

"James, come on-"

"Not a thing." he insists."I have to go for a meeting but I'll be back later. I love you."

And with a kiss, he's gone for the day.
