James cares for his country. But he worries about Isobel and that stirred something inside of him which could stir something bigger in the country.

(It is set in the olden days incase that isn't clear in my writing haha, not quite sure what year, but somewhere waaaaay far back like in the 1400s :D)

20. 20.

Elijah and I get home and he has kind of come to terms with the whole thing. He has concluded that he's got a resentment for James now but that he doesn't see me any differently and will help as much as possible. We also agreed not to tell anyone until I have to, when I start showing.

"You look a bit peaky Izzy." Mother says when we walk in the kitchen. "Why don't you lie down?"

I nod. "Good idea."

"Are you sure you're alright?" she asks, handing me some home made biscuits.

I smile. "Fine, thank you."

"Come on Elijah, let's leave her to it." my mother hints as I lie down on my bed.

He nods. "Rest well Izzy." he gives me a knowing smile and I smile back.

"I will."

"Izzy!" Matilda squeals in my ear. It is broad daylight and I swear I've been sleeping for more than a few hours. "You slept through all of yesterday and last night!"

I groan, sitting up. "What?"

"Anyway, the prince is here again!" she grins.

Suddenly I am wide awake. Somewhere inside myself I am excited to see him but that's vague compared to the anger. How dare he act like nothing happened and show up around here? Doesn't he know to leave a girl alone when they are mad with you? I pull one of my day dresses on and storm outside. He is on the road on his horse. He smiles when he sees me and gets off the horse. I hear footsteps behind me.

"Elijah go inside and take everyone with you, we need to speak alone." I say to him, not angrily though.

I approach James and he goes to hug me but I push him away.

"Just go." I tell him.

He frowns. "What? Are you still mad about yesterday? Oh Isobel, come on-"

"Come on?! What do you mean?! I have a lot going on in my head right now and I'm still pissed off with you if I'm quite honest and yes I'll get over it but right now I don't need to see you!" I exclaim.

He just chuckles. "You're pissed off with me? Ha! Oh dear, come on, settle down my love, I have good news."

I fold my arms, calming down a little bit. He smiles at me and pulls me into a hug. I can't stay mad anymore so I just laugh at how stupid I was being and hug him back. He pulls away and looks into my eyes.

"Good news." He smiles.

"Do tell."

"I am king." he grins. "Officially."

I gasp and grin. "That's amazing!"

"I know!" James picks me up and spins me around, then settles me on the floor again in case anyone sees.

"I just wanted to tell you in person." he says. "Will you walk with me?"

I agree and we walk into the woods. I steer clear of Elijah and I's special spot... that's a no go for anybody but us. But James and I make our way to the lake and sit beside it.

"I also wanted to ask you something, but I have a strong feeling you'll disagree with my proposition." he says.

"Oh yeah?" I ask, turning to look at him. He looks straight ahead at the lake. "What?"

He turns to me, looking bashful. "Isobel Taylor, it would make my life complete if you were to marry me."
