19. Chapter 18

It took Audrey a moment to answer. She was too busy looking at Justin's eyes, and when she answered it felt like she'd just woken up from a trance.

"I just want to feel loved for once." She whispered. Justin nodded and placed his lips onto hers again. It was amazing how natural it felt now. It didn't feel one bit awkward anymore.

Justin placed his forehead onto hers. His eyes were still closed and Audrey felt the urge to kiss him again. There were so many butterflies in her stomach, she just didn't know what to do first.

"You are loved, Audrey." Justin said, his voice cracking a little bit. She suddenly felt bad for what happened with the pills.

"I know that's not true." Audrey said quietly as she absent-mindlessly ran her hands through Justin's hair. "I mean I guess now I know you care, but nobody loves me."

Justin buried his head in the crook of her neck. "No, I love you."

Audrey's breath hitched in her throat. Was this a dream? Was this really happening? Did he just say that? Him? Justin Bieber?

He looked up. "I'm not lying. I'm not making this up. Audrey, I fucking love you and there's nothing you can do about it." A moment later his lips were on hers again. After he pulled away, he said, "Everybody's been asking me why I've been acting different lately."

"Well, the other day Liam came up to me and asked why we never went to the restaurant parking lot anymore." Justin licked his lips. "I had no answer to it."

"And Avery asked me why I wasn't acting like such a douche bag anymore." He continued. "I had no answer to that either."

"Claire asked me why we weren't having sex anymore," Justin paused for a moment to glance at Audrey. Her expression was neutral, so he figured she didn't mind that he was mentioning him and Claire. "And I didn't have an answer to that."

"But now I do." He cupped her cheek with one hand. "It's you, Audrey. Don't you get it? We never go to the restaurant anymore because you aren't there, you're here. I'm not a douche anymore because I know that if I was, you wouldn't like me at all. And I don't sleep with Claire anymore because the only person I want is you."

Audrey took a shaky breath before she broke into tears. Justin wiped them away and wrapped his arms around her. She did the same. The tears weren't from pain, they were happy tears. As sad as it was to admit, this was the happiest moment of her life. Someone finally loved her.

They stayed like that for a while, holding each other. Neither of them said anything. They just sat there in a quiet understanding.

"We should probably go check on everybody else." Audrey said quietly. Justin groaned.

"No we can stay here, they can take care of themselves."

Audrey smiled. "Their cars just blew up, I'm sure they're still a little unsettled."

He paused and then rolled over and got up from the bed. Audrey watched him and then got up herself. Justin was waiting by the door with his hand held out to her. She paused, wondering if she should take it, but then she realized that he'd just confessed his love for her, so it would be stupid not to.

The scene downstairs was frightening. Audrey could tell that Justin was just as surprised as her, because he wasn't saying anything.

Liam and Seth were yelling at each other again. Avery sat quietly on the couch behind Seth, and she looked scared out of her mind. Kaiden stood by Liam's side, refusing to make eye contact with Avery. Claire seemed to be insulting Veronica while Austin yelled at her for doing so. Brandon and Ethan were sitting at the bar drinking beers, looking like they were enjoying themselves.

"Okay, now what the hell is going on?!" Justin yelled. Surprisingly enough, Audrey didn't flinch like the rest of them.

"Avery likes the West-sider boy." Seth crossed his arms and glared at Avery who looked like she was going to cry.

"I don't like him!" Avery protested. "He's just good looking, that's all."

Audrey suddenly felt like she was going to be sick. "That's my brother you're talking about."

Avery's eyes widened.

"You can't just yell at her for that!" Liam was yelling at Seth again.

"Yes I can! You can't just think someone from the West side is 'good looking!'" Seth said. Justin let go of Audrey's hand and her stomach started to feel empty.

"Everybody, SHUT UP." Justin yelled, causing everybody to look over at him. There was a moment of silence, and then to everybody's surprise, Avery got up from the couch, smacked both Seth and Liam, and then stormed to the front door. Everybody's gaze followed her as she put on her shoes.

"I'm leaving," She declared. "And I'm not coming back."

And with that, she opened the door and left. Nobody knew where she was going. Seth collapsed onto the couch, and Liam turned around to hug Kaiden. Audrey had no clue what was going on.

"That's it," Justin whispered. Everyone looked over at him with confusion.

"What's it, Justin?" Audrey grabbed his hand. He glanced at her for a moment.

"That's what they're trying to do." He turned towards the group. "We can't let them get to us, guys. It's what they want."

"What do they want?" Veronica asked. This was the first time she's spoken up during a group talk.

"They want us to argue with each other so we slowly leave, one by one to go over to the West side. And it starts with Avery."
