13. Chapter 12

Audrey opened her eyes and found Justin looking at her, smiling. She smiled faintly and tried to bury her head in his chest again. His arms were wrapped around her, and hers were wrapped around him. It seemed perfect, and Audrey didn't want to move.

"Come on," Justin tried to pry her off him, but she fought to keep her arms around him. Eventually he won, and Audrey rolled over with a groan.

"We can't stay here forever," Justin said. Audrey groaned again and Justin sat up. He gently flipped her over so she was lying on her back. She looked up at him with a frown.

"Are you asking me to tickle you? Or..." Justin cracked a smile as Audrey's eyes grew wide and she sat up immediately.

"Don't tickle me!" She shrieked, throwing the blankets off of her. Justin laughed as she grabbed some clothes from the extra closet that Justin had given to her, and ran into the bathroom. After about a minute of getting changed, she walked into the bedroom again to see Justin standing by the door doing something on his phone. He looked up when she came out and smiled.

"So what are we doing?" Audrey asked. Justin looked down at his phone again.

"We are..." He paused so he could type something. "Going downstairs."

Justin opened the door and walked out into the hallway. Audrey followed shortly after him and they both went downstairs. It was surprisingly calm. Audrey recognized Seth sitting on a bar stool in the kitchen next to Avery, and they were talking. Claire sat by herself on one of the leather couches, her arms crossed. Kaiden seemed to be sucking face with Liam again, and Veronica was talking to Austin. There were also two other boys that Audrey's never met before.

Justin stuck his phone in his back pocket before yelling, "Everybody shut your mouths!"

To Audrey's surprise, everybody's heads snapped in Justin's direction, and all activity stopped. They were all looking at him with expectant glares.

"Have all of you met Audrey yet?" He asked. Everybody nodded except for the two boys that Audrey's never seen before. Justin made a quick introduction.

"Okay," Justin said. "Audrey, that's Ethan," He pointed to the boy with the messy brown hair and blue eyes. "And that's Brandon." He pointed to the other boy who had short brown hair and green eyes. Audrey nodded and said 'hi' very quietly.

"Now that we've all met each other," Justin said slowly, glancing at Claire, who was glaring at Audrey. "We have a problem."

"What kind of problem?" Liam asked.

"A big one." Justin answered. "West-siders on the East side kind of big."

Austin--who had been leaning back in his chair, smoking something that looked like weed--sat up. "There's a west gang out here?"

"No. It's more like two spies. I have no clue what they're doing, but Audrey and I ran into them yesterday."

Audrey shivered.

"Where were they?" Seth asked from the kitchen.

Justin looked in Seth's direction. "By that hellhole of a restaurant."

"Well then we have to go back there today and check it out." said Brandon, who was also smoking. Audrey stepped closer to Justin.

"I'm not going back there." Audrey said, causing everybody to look at her. Apparently, nobody had expected her to use her vocal cords. She frowned.

"Then you can stay here, sweetheart." Claire said from her spot on the couch. She was smacking on a piece of gum and it reminded Audrey of Marcy. "We don't need your help anyway."

"Claire, shut up." Justin snapped. This just made Claire stand up and walk over to where Audrey was standing. She grabbed a strand of Audrey's hair and looked at it with fake interest.

"Is this your real hair color?" Claire asked. Audrey nodded. "Dear god. I feel sorry for you. No wonder Justin feels bad, you're ugly as hell."

For a moment, Audrey was genuinely taken aback. Then, "I wouldn't be talking, Barbie." came out of her mouth. Claire's eyes widened, and Audrey heard a couple of laughs coming from behind her.

Even though Audrey felt good for telling Claire off, she still felt the need to excuse herself from the room. She turned around, walked out the front door, and sat on the steps with her head in her hands. She was hoping that somebody would come outside and comfort her, but nobody did. All she heard was Justin yelling inside.

"Tough life, isn't it?"

Audrey's head shot up. She looked behind her, but nobody was there. Someone cleared their throat, and she faced forward again.

Ian was leaning up against the tall pine tree in the front yard. He was smirking at Audrey, who's mouth was hanging open.

"I never wanted to join a gang," Ian said. "Though, dad was into that kind of stuff, so when mom died and dad was put in jail, I thought: well, a gang is our only chance at living without our parents."

"Dad was part of a gang?"

"Of course, you idiot." Ian spat. "Why else would he be gone so much?"

"He hated you, you know." Ian's eyes met Audrey's. "That's why he'd only talk to me and Jesse when he came home. I also hate you. You should've never been born. Jesse hates you for not coming back to him. That's why he's not here. He doesn't want to see you." Audrey tried not to cry at his words. She knew he was just trying to get to her. "And now, you have been dragged into gang life, and everybody hates you."

"Justin doesn't hate me."

"Then why hasn't he come outside to comfort you yet?"

Audrey stayed silent.

"Exactly." Ian sneered. "Soon enough, you'll be begging to come over to the West side."

"Even if everybody hates me, this is still better than Aunt Sara. At least they don't beat me."

"Speaking of Aunt Sara..." Ian smirked. "I'd better give her a call. She'll be wanting to know where you are. And it's better that you stay with her, instead of getting in the way of my plans."

Audrey's eyes grew wide and her heart started to beat faster. "No! Don't call her Ian! Please!"

"Alright," Ian started walking towards Audrey, who was now standing up on the first step. She was a head taller than him on the step, but she didn't dare try to hit him or anything. "Then I guess I'll give you a ride there."

And that's all she remembered, before waking up in her old bedroom at Aunt Sara's house--screaming.

Hi guys :D I just wanted to put this little note in to let you guys know that the stuff that happened with Audrey and Justin wasn't a dream. Ian just kidnapped her and brought her back to Aunt Sara's so she wouldn't get in the way of what he wanted to do.

So don't be confused! Lol. Anyway, hoped you liked it :)
