Dark Paradise

Audrey has never felt so alone before in her life. Her brothers have abandoned her, her old friends hate her and bully her, and her so-called Aunt abuses her. What could be worse? Oh, yeah. Justin Bieber. He's head of one of the most dangerous gangs in the east side of town, and his life is already at its peak. When they meet, Audrey despises him. But Justin is somewhat fond of the fragile, insecure girl, so he decides to take her under his wing. For the first time in so long, everything seems to be going good for Audrey. But what happens when tensions rise between another local gang, and Audrey is stuck in the middle of it? Will it be a nightmare, or is it just Dark Paradise? © 2013 by beliebervision & SoccerBieber18. All Rights Reserved.

11. Chapter 10

Justin had been laughing, walking up the stairs, and drinking a beer when he saw Audrey. He couldn't close his mouth, and he couldn't say anything. It was the most awkward moment of his life, though, when he dropped his beer--it got worse.

Audrey giggled and hopped down a few of the stairs to get to him. She put her hands on his shoulders and smiled.

"Hi." She said, still smiling. Justin raised an eyebrow, and managed to close his mouth.

"Hey," He croaked out. "Uh, what's up?"

"N-nothing." Audrey said taking one hand off of Justin's shoulder. He looked at it and wished that she hadn't moved.

"Did you have fun with Avery?"

Audrey nodded. "It was great, but I'm glad to be back here."

"I don't know." She said. "I suppose I'm starting to feel more welcome."

"That's awesome," Justin said. He had to swallow to prevent himself from drooling. It was hard not to, when Audrey looked so different. Different, in a good way. "But I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me. It's gonna start to get crazy in here. The boys are half drunk and I know the girls are going to come downstairs the minute we leave."

"Go out with you?"

"Yeah." He confirmed, noticing her expression of confusion. "Not like a date, I just want to walk a little bit." Justin held out his hand. "Do you want to?"

It took Audrey a while to decide, but she eventually nodded, ignored his outstretched hand, and bounded down the rest of the stairs. Justin followed--maneuvering his way around the broken glass and slippery liquid. After yelling to his friends that he was leaving with Audrey (and after getting no reply) they left.

It was cool outside. There was a light breeze, and the air itself was enough to give Justin goosebumps, but he was more focused on Audrey.

The breeze made strands of her long, red hair fly around. She had her arms crossed, and she was looking down at the ground. Justin wanted to lift her chin up and tell her she was beautiful, so badly, but he didn't. Instead, he stuck his hands in his pockets.

"So, is everything okay?" He asked. Audrey looked up at him with a small smile.

"To be honest, not really."

Justin was genuinely taken aback at her answer. Was he really so stupid to think that she was doing just fine? "I wish there was something I could do."

Audrey shrugged. "Allowing me to stay with you is enough. I really appreciate it, Justin, even if I don't usually say anything about it."

Justin nodded, urging her to keep talking.

"I just..." She started, wiping away some tears. "I really miss my mom and my brother Jesse. They were always so nice to me, and it's just not fair that mom had to die."

"What about your dad?"

With a smug look, Audrey glanced up at him. "My father was as bad as the woman you saw abusing me. He never touched me because Jesse wouldn't let him. So instead, he hurt Jesse. I believe that my father was the man who killed my mother on that trip." She quickly made eye contact with Justin before looking down again. "He's been in jail in some foreign country ever since."

"Why did your brother leave you?"

"He had no choice. My other brother, Ian, made him leave. I have no clue where they went."

Justin frowned. "I'm sorry Audrey."

Audrey stopped dead in her tracks. Justin looked up, and realized that they had walked all the way to Lucky's, which meant that they'd been walking for longer than he thought. Audrey choked back a sob at the sight of the restaurant, and Justin watched. He couldn't really do anything about it.

"Justin?" She asked with a shaky voice.

"Can I have a hug?" Audrey was looking up at him. Her eyes were still watering and some tears were streaming down her cheeks.

"A hug?" He asked, confused. Audrey nodded. "Of course. You don't have to ask."

Audrey flung herself at Justin, and he wrapped his arms around her. She was so small and so broken. Justin wanted to fix this girl. That was his new goal, he thought as Audrey tightened her grip around him. He hesitantly brought his hand up and started to rub her back.

At that moment, someone cleared their throat and they both jumped apart. Audrey stayed close to Justin, though, just in case that someone was going to hurt them.

It was a guy. He was tall, with messy blonde hair and brown eyes. His face was formed into a surprised expression, and Justin noticed that he had a scar running along the corner of one of his eyes.

He opened his mouth to say something, but another boy stepped out of the shadows, interrupting him.

This boy was shorter than the first, with the same messy hair, except his was brown. He also had brown eyes, but no scar. Justin looked at the two of them and noticed that they looked a lot alike. From their eye color to their surprised expressions. Justin suddenly realized that these boys were probably from another gang on the west side of town.

"What the hell are you doing here? In case you were wondering, this is the east side." Justin spat. The second boy glanced at him for a moment, and then turned to Audrey.

"Audrey? Is that really you?"

Audrey blindly grabbed Justin's hand for support. He squeezed her hand to let her know that he was there.

"I asked you a question." Justin spat again. This time, the blonde boy answered.

"And you don't need an answer." He said. "Now shut up, and let Audrey explain why she isn't with Aunt Sara."

Justin looked down at the now shaking Audrey. She looked terrified. "Audrey, what is he talking about? Why do they know your name?"

"J-Justin," She said carefully, letting go of his hand. She started to walk towards the brown-haired boy and Justin fumbled to catch her wrist, but she'd already broken into a run. The boy held out his arms and caught her. Audrey buried her face into his chest and hugged him as if he were going to leave her forever.

They stayed like that for a moment, until Audrey pulled away, realizing that Justin was still there.

"I'm still waiting for an explanation." Justin said.

Audrey looked over at him with a pained expression, and said, "J-Justin, these are m-my brothers. Jesse and Ian."
