Head to Head

Dakota Jason is a preppy, optimistic kind of girl. Piper Anderson is harsh, sarcastic, and kind of snarky. Put them together, what do you get? A disaster.
Yet, Simon Cowell seems to think it's a wonderful idea. He puts them into a duo girl group and makes them the first act in One Direction's big tour. Will these two very different girls start to get along for the sake of their careers? Will they fall in love in the process? Or will they rip each other's necks out and lose everything?

1. Dakota Jason

A/N: Hey guys. Some of you might know me from a different account: innocentlybeautiful. Don't worry, I haven't given up that account! This is just an account for my friend Jessica and I. She will also be writing this story in the point of view of Piper Anderson. I hope you guys like it! :)

I pushed through the door with my back as I balanced a tray of coffee and some papers on my arm. Walking over to the desk, I smiled brightly at my boss.

"Hi Mr. Cowell!"

"Dakota, I told you to call me Simon," he said slowly and a bit annoyed as he reached for the coffee that I laid down on his desk.

"Isn't it a wonderful day out today, Mr. Cow--I mean, Simon?" I asked, a smile on my face as I looked out his window that faced the city of London. His cold eyes met my brown ones.

"It's raining."

"Yes, but it's not raining as much as yesterday!" I cooed, handing him some papers. He shook his head and grimaced.

"Your optimism is making me nauseous," he snapped as he signed some papers.

"Do you want a pill or something?" I asked, concerned. His head rolled up and he looked at me lazily.

"Just leave," he ordered.

"Okay!" I smiled and got out of his office as quick as possible. He didn't like me very much.

"Hi Matilda!" I greeted Simon's secretary. She looked me up and down as she continued her phone conversation. She didn't like me very much either. A girl with short hair and dark eye makeup was walking towards me carrying coffee and some papers.

"Don't bother, I already gave him the copies...And some coffee," I said, smiling. Her eyes threw daggers into me. That was Piper Anderson. And she really didn't like me.

We were the only ones who were about the same age, eighteen. We were also the only girl interns. So, we usually were paired together for stupid things. For example, lunch.

I hated that time of day, and I never really hated anything. I mostly hated it because I had to spend it with Piper Anderson. That girl just really rubbed me the wrong way. She always called me a Valley girl because I was from Sweet Valley, California. And she always complained about our internship. How she wanted to do more with her life then give everybody in the office coffee. She wanted to learn more about the recording business. She wanted to learn. And while I completely agreed with her, I just hated how she was always complaining.

Like I wanted to hear her life story.

I hated that time of day; lunch. I just always want it to be over with as soon as possible.

I would hate having to spend more than that with her.

"Of course you did," she sneered at me, bringing me back to reality. I smiled and walked past her. Instead of going away, she put down the tray of coffee and copies of contracts on Matilda's desk and followed after me.

"What are you doing?" I asked, a little freaked out.

"What are you here for anyway? You seem to like being the 'coffee' girl. The 'go to' girl," said Piper, putting air quotes around 'coffee' and 'go to'.

"Wow, you're actually asking me what I want to do with my life? That's new," I said as I smiled to the front desk lady, Sharon.

"Oh ha, ha. Hilarious," she laughed sarcastically, "Just answer the question."

"Well, I want to be a singer." She stopped and stared at me. Then she grabbed my arm and pulled me into a bathroom.

"Ow!" I cried, rubbing my arm.

"What did you say?" she asked.

"I want to be a singer."

"I want to be a singer," said Piper, pointing to herself.

"Okay yay. That's great," I said, plastering a smile on my face.

"Excuse me?"

"Sing for me!" I shied away from her commanding tone. But opened my mouth to sing anyway. I started to sing Heart Attack by Demi Lovato. Once I reached the chorus, Piper joined with me. And to be quite honest, we actually sounded pretty great. With wide eyes, we stopped singing and kind of just stared at each other.

"Um...you sing...pretty good," I struggled for the words.

"Ditto," she said, her eyes as wide as mine. Then we heard a flush and the stall started to open. It was Simon. I immediately covered my eyes. I wasn't sure why. It was just a reflex.

"WE'RE IN THE MEN'S RESTROOM??" I cried, with my eyes covered.

"You guys sound amazing!" Simon said, surprised. I lowered my hands from my face and stared at him in disbelief.

"Come to my office. Now," he ordered. Piper and I looked at each other in shock.

What just happened?
