14. The Rescue Mission and the Submission

THE THREE OF US FORMED A SMALL CIRCLE, holding hands. I closed my eyes and reached out to him and found him in an instant. It was like he had been there all my life, a part of me that I had never even noticed before. I searched deeper into the bond, just to see how far back it went and almost broke concentration when I found out. The other two looked strangely at me as they could access my mind so as to use their powers through me. I knew it was going to be hard, channelling all that energy but I had to try or I would never forgive myself.

I closed my eyes again and went back to our connection. As I reached out this time, he responded. It wasn’t with words, just a small caress, mind to mind, but it was still sweet. Feeling his mind through our connection, I realised just how much he had been mistreated and it made me even more anxious to save him.

His mother had been kidnapped whilst she was pregnant with him and was forced to work alone to clean that big house. As soon as he was old enough to work, he had been forced to clean as well, just two years old. Three years later, she died, leaving him alone to suffer the abuse she had protected him from. Listening to this story I wanted to hold him and cry but I had a mission to do and I wasn’t going to get deterred from it.

Knowing he would help me, I froze time and space around him, so he could get out without getting caught. Next, we concentrated on getting him here, him focusing on the image of my room that I’d sent him, me transferring his life energy from there to here. I found that I barely needed to dip into Xena and Fran’s energy resources but still needed them there as Xena hid him and Fran distracted everyone with a huge storm while I concentrated. Soon Sergius was safe with me and we were locked in a tight embrace. I kissed him passionately only to have Xena cough.

“We are still here.” She reminded me, subtle as always.

“Sorry,” I replied sarcastically then turned back to Sergius “These are my friends Fran and Xena.”

At that point Danny came crashing through the door.

“What have I missed?” she asked then re-evaluated the situation to answer her own question “Quite a lot from the mysterious boy in the bedroom holding my best friend.”

She took a step forward “I’m Danny and you must be the reason I needed to distract Ruby, am I right?”

I glared at her and she backed down, knowing full well that the last time I had lost my temper with her the electricity for the whole town had blown out. Satisfied that Danny had learnt her lesson, I turned my attention back to Sergius who was watching me with such adoration it made me blush. I heard the others retreat out the door to give me some alone time with him. He sat down on the bed and pulled me into his lap.

“Let me hold you and wonder over the fact that you are mine.” He pleaded and I granted him this with pleasure.

We sat curled up in silence while he kissed the top of my head. I held onto him tight for I knew that soon he would have to go. We both knew that I was powerful and had equally powerful enemies, even if we didn’t know who they were but they could not find out about him. The only people I trusted with the knowledge of his existence were the ones who knew already and no others. I turned towards Sergius and cried on his shoulder while he held me and rocked me back and forth, whispering comforting words but I knew he was crying too. We sat there for a long time, crying, until Sergius tilted my head up and kissed me. He rolled me onto my back, never breaking the kiss, and covered his body with mine. My body pushed up against his, our passion rising and he moaned in response, his hand slipping up my back, pressing us together. I rolled him over so I was on top when he pulled away, leaving me sitting on his stomach. He left a few gentle kisses on my jaw then lent back on the bed regaining his breath.

I rolled off him and lay on the bed with my head on his chest. Sergius wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer. Several minutes later, we fell asleep.

“You have to leave in the morning.” I murmured as sleep overcame me.

He sighed in reply.
