Fantasy story about a girl who lives on a planet called Starre. This is her life before the War...

13. Hello Again

I WOKE UP CRYING AND CONFUSED. It took me a couple of seconds to remember where I was and why I was crying. I just wished that I could go to him right now and take him away from that awful place but I couldn’t. I had to hold my head high and pretend that everything was fine for my best friends in the whole universe…but I couldn’t hide it from Danny; she knew me too well.

As soon as I came down stairs she noticed I had been crying. Her face contained sympathy and condolence and it was just enough to get me through the up and coming day. I knew I would most likely see all my friends around town today and I had to be ready for the explanation. Just as I was finishing getting dressed, someone knocked on the door insistently. I waited to see if anyone was going to answer it and, realising no one was going downstairs, went to answer it myself.

I opened up the door to see the whole gang framed in the entrance and all staring at me with the upmost bewilderment on their faces.

“Surprise?” I announced nervously.

I wasn’t sure how they were going to respond until Xena took two steps into the house and enveloped me in a tight hug. I let out the breath I hadn’t realised I had been holding and hugged her back. Then the other two joined us in a big group hug, just as Danny came prancing down the stairs.

“Ah the cavalry has arrived then.” She remarked smugly

The others disentangled themselves from me and Fran looked straight into my eyes. I opened myself up to her and she nodded curtly. I then proceeded to repeat this process with Xena and she gave the same response. I even decided to show them Sergius because I desperately needed their help if I was going to retrieve him plus I already had a plan. Glancing at Danny, I knew she had seen the private exchange and, even though I desperately wanted her with me for this, saw that she needed to distract Ruby.

“C’mon Ruby, let’s give these three sometime to remind each other of what power is really about.” And with that she dragged the helpless Ruby out and slammed the door behind her.

“Right, time to get this plan rolling.” I declared, taking the stairs two at a time.

The others nodded and followed me up the stairs to my room.
