Rori Carter, already a household name and eighteen, gets offered a movie deal that she can't not accept. Little does she know, she's doing a movie with the famous Louis Tomlinson. Amelia, Rori's little sister, is an aspiring singer and only sixteen. To her surprise, she gets offered to collaborate with the one and only One Direction. Will these girls find love and be successful? Or will they end up getting their hearts broken with their careers falling apart with it? Give them all or nothing.

9. "I can't..."

A/N: Thank you to those who are reading this. Both Elizabeth and I are working really hard on this, and we're super glad to have some people that are reading it! :)

"He's the most annoying, self centered, little idiot I have ever met," I went on as Mia unpacked her things. I leaned against her door frame.

"I mean, how am I supposed to film with this on my head?" I asked, pointing to the golf ball sized blue and black mark on the side of my head.

"I'm sure they can cover it up with makeup," Mia said without looking up.

"I mean, would it have killed him to help me with the suitcase?" I went on.

"You did say you didn't want any help."

"That was because I wanted to prove that I can do things on my own! He thinks that I can't do things on my own, which I think it's really ridiculous."

"Well, you did fall down a flight of stairs and your suitcase kind of exploded at the bottom of it," said Mia.

"Okay, yeah, but that was like one time." Mia threw down the clothes that she was unpacking and just looked at me, irritation etched on her face.

"What?" I asked.

"Don't you want to ask me how my day was?"

"We just got here. Nothing can happen within a few hours."

"Well, a lot seemed to happen to you," she snapped. She took a deep breath and then looked away from me, "Can you just leave me alone?"

"Okay," I said lifting my hands in defense. I left her room and almost ran into Harry on the way out.

"Hey," he said.

"Hi..." I said, narrowing my eyes at him, suspiciously. He tried to side step me but I stepped in his way.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"I could ask you the same thing," I said, looking at him out of the corner of my narrowed eyes. He laughed nervously.

"You're weird."

"I pride myself in that. But I do know when something is going on. And there's something that is going on."

"Nothing is going on, Rori. What would be going on? I just need to talk to your sister about the schedule for recording and stuff..." said Harry, losing it a little at the end. I stared at him for a moment more and then smiled.

"Sorry, my jet lag must be making me craaazy," I said, making little circles with my finger next to my head.

"YOU'RE ALREADY CRAZY!" Louis shouted from the kitchen. My jaw dropped.

"HOW CAN YOU HEAR ME I'M ALL THE WAY UPSTAIRS MY GOD," I yelled back, starting down the stairs.

"HOW CAN I NOT HEAR YOUR MAN VOICE? IT'S LOWER THAN HARRY'S!" I ran into the kitchen and grabbed the water gun that was on the table. He turned around and stared at me wide eyed as I pointed it at him.

"You wouldn't."

"Oh, I would," I said nodding my head.

"She's got you now, Lou!" called Niall from the couch in the den.

"Say it again," I demanded.

"What?" asked Louis with his hands raised in defense.

"Say that I have a man voice, pretty boy," I said with my eyes narrowed. He narrowed his own eyes and then pulled out another water gun and pointed it at me.

"You have a man voice."

"THAT'S IT!" I yelled. And then we started soaking each other with water guns. I screamed when the cold water hit my face.

"Hmm, you look better as a panda," said Louis.

"YOU'RE A JERK," I yelled at him with a smile on my face, chasing him around with the water gun. He laughed.

And it was actually...kind of fun. That is until Liam came home from the store and was astonished at how wet the house was.

"You two are cleaning this up," he said as he put away the groceries.

"Yes sir," we both said a bit sadly. When Liam was out of ear shot, Louis jabbed me in the ribs.

"That was fun, wasn't it?" he asked. I felt my face go red and I looked away quickly as I got a mop out from the closet.

"Ha. Fun? No, that wasn't fun. It was torture," I said as I started mopping furiously. Louis looked at me a bit sideways and then grabbed another mop.

"Uh, yeah. I completely agree with you," he said a little quietly.

I was an idiot.

I snuck glances at Rori while I was cleaning up my side of the kitchen. I thought she was having fun. But...I guess she wasn't.

The setting sun caught her hair, and for a second, it was almost like she was on fire. With tints of red and orange in her naturally brown hair. She looked up and the sun caught her brown eyes, turning them into an amber gold. Then her gaze locked on me, and her expression hardened before she turned away quickly. I turned back to the work I had on hand.

No, no do not go thinking that I have a thing for her just because I noticed what her hair color looks like. Or what her eyes look like.

Rori Carter was annoying and manic. Things had to be her way. Like lines, for example. They had to be said in a certain way, or she gets "out of the moment".

She was always scrunching up her nose and narrowing her eyes, like she wasn't funny looking enough. And she smiled at the silliest things. Like birds. She sees a bird and she just bursts into a temporary smile.

I hated how she never listens. While you're talking, she only thinks about what she's going to say. Instead of listening to what you're trying to say. I could say, "I like bananas" and she would say, "Oh yeah, well I hate bananas." I mean, not everything's a competition. That girl drives me insane.

Was there a moment with her where she wasn't arguing or angry?

Well, I guess when we were dowsing each other in water... she wasn't angry.

Pushing her wet hair out of her eyes, she threw her head laughing.

The sun seemed to shine out from her eyes.

"What are you looking at?" she asked, her brown eyes narrowed. I shook my head and laughed.

"Nothing," I said.

I caught myself staring at her again as I thought about that. Instead of her eyes being narrowed, she looked confused.

"What? Do I have something on my face?" she asked. I shook my head and looked at the floor. Then I threw my mop down.

"Where are you going?" she called.

"Upstairs," I said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"Aren't you going to help?!" she called after me.

"You should be used to cleaning," I said without thinking. Ugh, why do you have to bait her?

"EXCUSE ME?" she yelled. I just shook my head and ignored her.

"Louis? Louis? LOUIS!" she called after me. I walked into Harry's room and closed the door.

"Louis?" asked Harry. I shook my head and sat down on his bed.

"She's getting on my nerves," I lied.

"Aw c'mon, she's not that bad." I just looked at him.

"She's not," he said defensively. I laid down on his bed as he swiveled around in his chair.

"What's really on your mind?" he asked. He knew me so well.

"Why does she hate me so much?" I asked as I stared at his ceiling.

"Maybe it's the fact that you continue to insult her...?" I shrugged.

"It's fun."

"Of course it is," he said. I shrugged again and just stared at Harry's ceiling in silence. Harry stared at me for a moment longer and then turned back around and tried to rhyme things with 'Mia'.

"Leah, I love you," said Louis as James. His expression looked so earnest that I almost believed him. I felt my expression soften and then harden as I turned away from him.

"Then why'd you do it?" I asked, my voice hitching in my throat.

"Just answer, please?" I asked, tears rolling down my face as I turned to look at him. Louis took a deep breath.

"I thought you were going to leave me... And that's no excuse," he added as he saw me almost interjecting. My lips tightened into a thin line.

"She meant nothing to me, Leah. You have to believe me," he begged.

"Just..." I said. The line completely leaving my head. I kept going with it, and turned away, not saying anything. Luckily, Louis didn't stop and kept going as well. He turned me around and grabbed me by the shoulders.

"Don't touch me," I spat, shrugging out of his grip.

"Leah, I love you," he repeated, almost begging.

"If you loved me, you wouldn't have done what you did with that girl. You wouldn't have left when I told you to go. If you loved me, you would've fought for me. You should've fought for me. I loved you, James. I. Loved. You. But you hurt me. Someone who loves me so much, wouldn't want to hurt me. But that's what you did, James. You hurt me and you did it on purpose..." I said. There was an awkward pause.

"This is when you're supposed to interrupt her and kiss her, Louis," said Lasse with his bullhorn. I jabbed my head towards him, my eyes saying 'what-the-hell-are-you-doing?' Louis looked at me, with what seemed like longing and loss.

"I...I can't..." Louis said, turning away from me and walking off of set. My jaw dropped and I stared at him leaving.

"Okay, let's take ten," said Lasse annoyed into the bullhorn. People started milling around me as I followed Louis into his dressing room/trailer.

"What the hell?" I yelled when I entered, "You can't kiss me? I disgust you so much that you can't even do that? It's just a kiss, Louis. It doesn't mean anything. I'm not going to, like, fall at your feet or anything. Don't worry. I probably wouldn't enjoy it at a--"

My rant was interrupted as lips pressed against mine. My eyes widened as Louis pulled me closer and the kiss deepened. I was frozen. I didn't know what to do. It wasn't like I haven't kissed a boy before. But it was the first time that it really counted. I wasn't a character. He wasn't someone else. He was kissing me. And I didn't move.

And I wasn't sure...

What was he...

Why was he...

And then he pulled away. I stared at him in shock.

"I'm...I'm sorry," he said, sheepishly. Still shocked, and without saying another word, I walked out of his trailer and straight towards Lasse.

"I'm...sick," I said slowly, still in shock. Without listening for his answer, I walked towards the guy who drove Louis and I here, and got into the car. Wordlessly, he took me back home.

What just happened?
