12. Day One - Let the Horror begin

Kayla had been one of the first girls who made a run for it, her legs carrying her through the labyrinth of huge trees. Strawberry-blond hair flowing over her shoulder when she turned her head making sure no one was following her. She slowed down her pace, eyes still flicking around - she was aware of what was going to come, and she knew what to do - hide.

The redhead’s posture stiffened, head turning swiftly as her ears recognised a cracking behind her - nothing. A sigh escaped her red lips, jaw relaxing in relieve that she was still on her own.

Suddenly a hand was pressed over her mouth, an arm snaking around the small girls shoulders.

"Be quite. It's me, Danielle. I won't hurt you." The small voice whispered.

The hand soon slipped from Kayla's face, she was now able to turn around.

"Danni, where did you come from?" the sun-freckled girl asked the shock-red haired whilst embracing her in a tight hug, breath shaky, voice trembling.

"I went out to look for the boys with Saphirè, Layla, Montana and Carlie. Saph and Lay-Lay were already heading in another direction when we received that voice message." bright-green eyes flooded with tears as Danielle buried her face in the crook of her friends neck. "Kayla, it was horrible."

"Babe, what happened?" the auburn haired girl rubbed soothing circles on the back of her shocked mate, a frown build up above clear grey eyes, worry plastered on her face.

"I was one of the first to realise what that guy meant by 'disqualify'..."

*flashback; Danielle's POV*

I looked over to the other girls, still trying to process what the voice just told - 'disqualify'... I knew what he wanted to express, but I couldn't believe it. No. There was no way -

I got kicked out of my thoughts when I heard a whimper, followed by a dull noise - a sound like if you let a pile of books fall on smooth grass.

My head flicked, looking for the source of the noises when I saw Montana lying on the ground, blood slowly pouring out of her chest.

I turned to Carlie, watching in horror as she stood there, an evil smirk spread on her face, eyes beaming on the dead body in awe. I quickly turned my gaze again, fixing it on the chest of the dead girl, noticing three metal blades stuck inside the flesh. I jumped as I noticed the blonde Russian turning around, her cold eyes laid on me.

"Don't worry, you'll meet her again, soon." her words dazed me, my mind not able to catch the meaning of her words.

My brain blocked, my instincts took over, telling my body to run - fast.

I turned around, my feet carrying my as fast as possible, my head flinching as I noticed a sharp object flying past my head, less than an inch away from my ear.

*flashback ends*

"She killed Montana!" Danielle was now bursting out in tears, waterworks cascading down her cheeks.

Both gingers jumped, pulling away from the hug as they felt a vibration against their wrists. They looked at each other in relief, noticing it had been their 'watch', but the expression on their pale faces changed soon as they looked on the screen.

That was what it said.

Kayla and Danielle exchanged a confused look before they glanced down again, eyes widening at what they saw.

Montana Lookabough.

Katie McLachan

"Tw-two?" none of them could believe it, Danielle was now the one to comforted her friend by stroking her hair, tears rolling over their cheeks.

Suddenly there was a cutting noise, Kayla pulled away; eyes widened, mouth agape as she stared at the redhead in front of her. Her hands rose to her chest, desperately grabbing on the thin fabric of her blouse before she locked her horrified gaze on Danielle, then she broke down.

Before Danni could even realise what happened, something hit her hard in the chest. Her eyes travelled down to her chest, hands rose up, covering the spot on her left breast, trying to stop the blood dripping out of it. That was when a second knife bore right in the space between her thumb and index - right into her heart.

The noise that was made when the Australian girls body hit the floor was barely audible - the ground soon covered by a growing pool of blood.

"Now is only 26..."
