16. Baby baby baby

Ashlie's POV:

I woke to a shrill cry. Wait.. no. Not a cry. My phone was ringing. I fumbled for it and finally managed to press it to my ear "Hello?" I mumbled into the receiver. I heard a gasp then "ash! I've missed you!" It was Jasmine. I sat up more and scratched my head "Miss you to girlie." Is aid stifling a yawn. I look around for Luke.

"So I was wondering if tomorrow while Luke is at the studio if I could hang out with you and the baby?" She trilled. I giggled as I slumped down the hall "sure thing chick. But I'm not leaving." I stated as I rounded the corner to Chase's room. She laughed "No not at all i wouldn't expect you to bring Chase out this early!" She exclaimed. I smiled "Ok see you tomorrow." Then I hung up. I stood in Chase's doorway silently and smiling. Luke was in the rocking chair. Chase in his arms. He was singing softly to him

"She sleeps alone, my heart wants to come home

I wish I was I wish I was

Beside you

She lies awake I'm tryna find the words to say

I wish I was I wish I was

Beside you.."

I giggled softly. Luke looked up and smiled. Carefully he got up and laid Chase in his crib. Then we we both left. My stomach grumbled and Luke chuckled "Hungry?" he asked. I nodded. He picked me up bridal style and carried me to the kitchen. He set me on the counter and began rummaging around. After a few minutes he came up with Pancake batter and chocolate chips. He mixed and poured the batter whilst adding chocolate chips. I stole a handful and munched on them. If there was one thing I loved, it was chocolate chips.

After about 5 minutes Luke had a stack of chocolate chip pancakes. He flipped two onto my plate and handed me a fork. I began to eat as he did also.

After dinner I stood at the sink doing the dishes. Two plates, two forks one butter knife one spoon a bowl and a spatula and pan. Done.

After I dried and put away dishes and dried my hands I leaned against the counter and looked around our kitchen.

The counter was made up of tan ceramic tiles. Wooden cupboards. The light above the sink was stained glass. The window behind the sink was arched to a point. I had all the lights off. except the one above the sink. It created a very soft glow.

I thought about it all. I was a mother taking care of my new born baby. I had a loving boyfriend who loved me and loved our baby. This is what it was like to be grown up..

I like it.
