33. Side Effects - Part 2.

Katie's P.O.V

Other than being confused on this 'girlfriend' situation, my first thought was that they were going to start hurting me again. While I was napping they must have done something to Harry, allowing Liam to claim me as his.

Well they better think again, because I am not some prize to be won.

"Where's Harry?" I asked.

"I believe he's downstairs with everyone else. Why?"

"Can I talk to him?" I asked, still a bit shaken up.

"Well I don't see why not." Liam chuckled. "Are you feeling alright? You're acting strange."

"I'm fine." I replied, turning my face as he went to kiss me again, his lips coming into contact with my cheek.

"Is there something wrong with my lips?" He asked, looking at me oddly.

"What? No. I just-I-" I didn't know what to say, my head spinning in confusion.

Liam leveled his face to mine before speaking, never once breaking eye contact. "Are you positive you're ok?"

"Yes, Liam." I said, hoping he wouldn't see past my fake smile.

He gently held my face as he smiled at me, connecting his lips to mine once again. "I'll go get Harry." He smiled, standing up and retreating from my room.

I shot out of bed once he was gone, wiping my mouth with my hand while pacing back and forth. I had no clue what was going on and didn't appreciate the fact that Liam had just done this. He basically told me at the hospital that he'd back off and stay my friend. Just my friend.

"You wanted to see me?" Harry asked, entering my room.

"What's the relationship status between us?!" I asked, the words basically flying out of my mouth without thought.

"Um, best friends?" He chuckled, walking over and feeling my forehead.

"I feel fine!" I exclaimed, tired of everyone worrying about my health.

"Why would you ask that?" He asked, still grinning at my sudden outburst.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you."

"Try me." He said, flopping himself on the bed before staring at the ceiling.

I stood there for a moment, honestly not knowing where to start.

"It's just, I thought we were a couple." I spoke quietly.

"What?" He laughed, clearly not taking this seriously.

"Listen to me. I don't know if this new medication is making me crazy, or if Liam lied to me at the hospital, or if-"

"Whoa whoa whoa, slow down there love! Medication? Hospital? Where is all this coming from?!"

"What do you mean? I just got out of the hospital, remember? Look at my-" I stopped as I raised up my arms, the bandages that once occupied a spot on my skin were now gone, along with the wounds. "Where did they go?" I asked, rapidly reversing my arms from front to back.

"Do I need to call Niall?" Harry asked, now standing up.

"No!" I shouted, Harry now looking more worried with the sudden level change of my voice. "No." I said in a much calmer tone. "Can you just tell me something?"

"Sure." He said, guiding me to the bed and sitting with me.

"Can you tell me about myself starting from the last day of eighth grade?"

"I'm sure I could do a much better job than Harry." Liam chuckled, walking into my room before placing a glass of water on my night stand.

"He's right." Harry chuckled, getting up off the bed. "Maybe your boyfriend can do something with your sudden memory crisis." He smirked.

Liam was beside me in no time, not really helping with my 'comfort' issue.

"That day was the best day of my life." He smiled. "You became my girlfriend and things have been perfect ever since."

"Really?" I asked.

"Yeah." He smiled, pushing the unwanted hair out of my face. "I heard what you said to Harry before I came in. I just want you to know that anything you told him sounds like a dream. A pretty realistic one if it's gotten you this stirred up." He said, concern clear in his eyes.

Could this be true? I only had a nightmare of everything? No, it doesn't make sense. As confusing as it sounds, this has to be a dream of me having a dream that is actually reality. ...That does sound rather confusing...

"Did Niall go away for over a month with a producer during our two week break?" I asked.

"Mhm." Liam grinned, a new look taking form on his face.

"And you all stayed here and watched me, right?"

"No." He frowned, the look disappearing. "Don't you remember staying at my house during that time?"

"What?" I asked, my heart racing.

"Yeah. I looked after you while Niall was gone. He trusts me with you. You really don't remember anything? The lazy days, movie nights, the board games we could never finish, not even the cake fight we got into when we were baking? We were scrubbing batter out of your hair for hours!"

"We did all that?" I smiled.

"No, I just made all that up. Yes, of course we did all that!" He laughed, causing me to do the same.

"Sorry I don't remember anything." I said.

"It's ok." He smiled. "I love you." He kissed my forehead, causing me to close my eyes and smile. When I opened my eyes, Harry was standing over me while I laid in an empty bed.

"Harry?" I questioned.

"Hey, it's like that movie! I kissed you and you woke up!" He smirked.

"Are you referring to sleeping beauty?"

"Yeah, that's the one!"

"Oh geez." I groaned. I looked at my wrists only to find bandages wrapped around them. "Harry, just a random question, what's our relationship status?" I smiled.

"I believe you told me yes that day in the hospital, so I think I'm allowed to say you're my girlfriend." He smirked, pressing his lips against mine. "Why do you ask?"

"I had a whacky dream, don't worry about it." I replied. "I'm just glad you woke me up."

"Well you've been asleep for a while. It's nearly time for dinner." He stated.

"You're kidding." I said, quickly getting out of bed.

"You're probably just making up for not getting any sleep at the hospital. It's no big deal." He spoke, walking me down the stairs.

I walked into the kitchen and breathed in the wonderful smell of pizza.

"Sorry, we thought it would just be easier to order in." Louis said, plopping pizza onto his plate.

"Don't apologize!" I smiled. "I love pizza!"

"Score one for Louis for deciding on pizza!" Liam shouted, causing us all to laugh.

"I'm so happy I could hug you, Louis!" I joked.

Louis' arms swung open causing me to block myself as best I could. I then realized he was taking me up on my joke to hug him.

"I- I'm sorry." He said, now looking at me with wide eyes.

"What are you talking about? I just thought you were going to squeeze me too hard." I lied, trying to play it off. I opened my arms before hugging him. It felt so unreal, showing a compassionate gesture to him. We then began to eat, I staying silent as usual.

"Oh, I almost forgot! Niall wants you in bed by ten." Liam said, pulling me into a conversation.

"I'm just telling you what he said."

"Eleven." I stated, trying to get myself more time. It was already nine forty-five.

"Ten." Liam said again.

"Ten forty-five?"

"I'll give you ten fifteen." He sighed.

"Ten thirty. No more, no less."

"Niall's going to kill me." He chuckled.

"I won't tell, I promise." I grinned, acting as if to lock my lips before throwing away an imaginary key.

"Ten thirty it is." Liam laughed.

"Thank you." I replied.

"Way to show authority." Zayn joked.

"Authority comes with negotiation skills." Liam added, causing us to laugh.

"I think I need to go take my medicine." I said, setting my plate in the sink. "Thanks for dinner."

I then made my way into my bathroom before selecting the proper prescription. I swallowed it with a glass of water before reaching up for the bandages. I knew Niall told me to let one of the boys help me, but I didn't want them to. I wanted to do this part on my own.

I found it to be an impossible challenge to wrap with only one arm, slamming the bandage down on the counter in frustration.

"Everything ok?" Harry asked, walking into my bathroom due to the fact I had left the door open.

"Perfect." I sarcastically growled.

"Are those your bandages?" He asked, starring at the contents in my hand. "Niall told me to help you with those." He said, reaching for them and taking them from my possession.

"Why didn't you ask me?" He questioned, looking at me with a concerned expression.

"I figured I could do it myself. I didn't want to bother you guys with it."

"Don't lie to me." He sighed out.

I looked at him, unsure as whether to be happy or mad with the fact he saw through my alibi.

"It just feels disgusting." I said, my eyes predictably watering. "I did this to myself and I can't take it back. I didn't want Niall to see my arms, and I definitely don't want anyone else to see what I did. I was just ashamed to let you see."

Harry lifted me up onto the counter without saying a word, taking one of my arms before beginning to unwrap it. Once both arms were bare, he stopped.

"Do you know what I see?" He asked me.

I looked at him, not sure what he was trying prove.

"I see a beautiful girl who was pushed too far. I see a strong being who is capable of overcoming everything thrown her way. I see the one I love feeling things she shouldn't have to feel. I see you, nothing less from perfect." He then lifted my arm before beginning to wrap it with a fresh bandage. "This has nothing to do with who you are. Why should I look at it as if it were?"

He finished up wrapping my arms before disposing of everything else. He then walked back over to me, gently placing his forehead against mine.

"I wish you could see how perfect you are to me." He spoke.

"I'm not perfect, Harry."

"You are in my eyes, and that's all that matters." His hands that were placed either side of me on the counter top were now holding me, his lips pressing against mine. My fingers played with his delicate curls as I was lifted off the counter before being placed in bed.

"It's almost ten thirty." He grinned. "You should get some rest."

I smiled before nodding to his statement. "Harry?" I spoke as he made his way to my door. He looked back at me with questioning eyes. "Thank you."

"Don't worry about it." He smiled.

He then made his way back over to me instead of exiting the room. I felt safe in his arms as he laid with me, allowing me to cuddle into him. If I was going to end up with someone for the rest of my life, I would gladly choose Harry.
