My Bullysitters

All I wanted was to be happy, but I guess that was too much to ask for...

39. Change Is A Good Thing.

Katie's P.O.V

"Oh my God." I breathed out. "He's going to kill him!" Of course I didn't mean this literally, but once Niall was through with Harry, he'd probably be wishing he were dead.

I bolted down the stairs and out of the house just as Niall was pulling out of the drive way.

"Niall!" I screamed. "Niall, he's not worth it!" But it was too late, he was already on his way. "Please come back." I whispered, tired of wiping away tears.

I reluctantly went back inside, knowing there was nothing I could do now. If anything, I should just start on my work, though I'm almost positive concentration isn't going to come easy today.

Niall's P.O.V

I burst through Harry's door the moment I arrived at his home. Rage was coursing through my veins as I called for him. He knew since our days at the hospital that I expected more from him, and he definitely dropped the ball on this one.

"Styles!" I yelled when I found him sitting in the kitchen.

"What a surprise, Niall. Did she actually tell you this time, or did you just figure it out on your own? It's not hard for someone like you to put two and two together."

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" I growled, pulling him from his seat and slamming him against the wall.

"I'd watch that temper, Niall." He smirked. "Wouldn't want to get in trouble for beating a minor would you? How do you think Katie would feel about that? And how about your manager, hmm? I don't think the people are looking for a violent role model."

I wanted to punch him with each word he said, knowing he was right. I refrained from hurting him, knowing he wouldn't be a bother much longer anyway.

"Just stay away from her, got it? I gave you a chance, so don't expect another. I'm not as forgiving as Katie. And believe me, if you come near her again, I won't hesitate to keep her safe. She's more important to me than a chance at fame. Consider yourself warned, Styles. Stay. Away."

"You know, this isn't really your fight. You can't just come in here uninvited and threaten me. If I want her, then I'll be with her. You can't possibly think you can stop me!"

"You honestly think she wants to be with you?! If you truly love her, then let her go! You've hurt her enough! Why can't you see you're bad for her?!"

"Because I'm not! I-"

"You know what? It doesn't even matter! We're leaving by the end of the week. She never has to worry about you hurting her ever again."

"What?" He asked in disbelief. "You're l-leaving?"

"My producer is pretty good at his job, huh? It's not a huge tour, just a couple of stadiums here and there. But before long, they'll be world tours, and I'm sure Katie can find someone along the way. We leave Friday, and something tells me that Katie isn't going to want to stick around here. Have a nice life, Harry." And I left just as quickly as I had arrived.

Now back home I found Katie working on numerous things. Her desk was covered in papers and the look of stress she wore could be easily noticed.

"You don't need to worry about that." I said, taking her speeding pencil from her hand.

"Hey!" She yelled. "Niall, give it back before I lose my train of thought! I'm serious!"

"We need to talk."

"I'm kind of busy." She spoke, removing her glasses and rubbing her head.

I sighed and pulled a chair next to her. "Look, this is really important."

"Alright." She sighed.

"My producer got me a small tour built up."

"That's great, Niall!" She smiled, hugging me.

"Well, yeah, but here's the thing. We need to leave by Friday. I just wanted to know how you felt about all this. Do you want to find other living arrangements, or do you want to come with-"

"Why would you even ask?! Of course I want to come with you!" She exclaimed, hopping into my lap. "Besides, who would I live with? I don't really have any friends, and I kind of don't want to stay with any of the guys after what happened with Harry..." She said, her voice trailing off.

"I just wanted to make sure." I smiled, glad that I could keep her safe.

"I can't wait to get out of here. I feel like such an idiot, you know? I just want to forget what happened and start all over." She spoke, and I couldn't help but feel bad.

She deserved better than this. Her life has been difficult since day one, and here I've been, my head stuck in the clouds, oblivious to everything. By Friday she can start fresh.

"So, does this mean I don't have to worry about my homework?" She asked, her eyes holding a hopeful look.

"Well, I'm pretty sure packing is going to take up homework time." I grinned, earning myself another tight hug.

"Thanks, Niall. Now I can dispose of all this unwanted stress." She giggled, dropping the papers in a bin.

"I'm still going to get you a tutor for on the road." I added.

"Fine by me!" She grinned, causing me to do the same.

I then left her as she had already began to pack, telling me that she had to get a head start and make sure she didn't forget anything important.

Knowing me, I'll probably just throw all my things into bags and call it good. I was thrown out of my thoughts by the sound of my phone going off. I quickly answered it, assuming my producer wanted to talk over some of my upcoming events.

"Niall!" A hoarse voice choked.

"Harry?" I questioned, already becoming angered again.

"Please, listen to me! I'm sorry for what I did. I swear I-"

"Sorry, Harry, but I believe you're apologizing to the wrong person here."

"Then can I speak to her?" He asked, desperation clear in his voice.

"No." And I ended the call with a click of a button.

Of course he's sorry! Now that he realizes she's going to move on. If he truly cared about her, he wouldn't have done what he did in the first place. I can't even believe I allowed him to be with her even after I knew the truth. I'm not making a mistake like that again, Katie's too fragile. And honestly, she ends up picking up the pieces alone, trying her hardest to place herself back together. I'm willing to fight to keep her from having to do anything of the sort ever again.

Harry continues to call, and I continue to ignore. I almost wonder if he's tried to get a hold of Katie? Though with what happened, I highly doubt she'd answer either. I then begin to think if she'll forgive him yet again? She always tries to see the best in people, which makes me see just how naive she really is. She wants to believe there's good in everyone, but her kind gesture ends up hurting her in the end.

Either way, once our tour bus takes us out of this town, she'll be better protected. I refuse to take my eyes off her. I refuse to let her break.
