The Slytherin Scandal: Year Two

Sirius Black, a world renounced murderer, is an animagus. He is on the loose and for some reason is going to Hogwarts. But after Lea meets Sirius, she's not sure if all those things are true.

Things begin to get odd when Lea finds out that the new DADA professor is an old friend of Sirius'. On the first day back, she also learns her teacher's worst and most hated secret. What happens when those two meet and an old friend comes back from the dead?

28. Neighbors

Lea's new neighbors moved in two days before Christmas Eve. They weren't exactly the friendliest bunch ever, but they didn't know anyone and Lea could see why they would be withdrawn.

Her new neighbors consisted of two people, a woman, maybe 25 and her husband, about 27. Both had black hair and a stern face, not at all like some of the professors at Hogwarts, who wanted to help, but like they didn't like anything. They were average height and build, both the same height. So close that if it wasn't for the eyes and noses, they could have been siblings, twins in fact.

The new neighbors made a point to visit and inspect, in secret, the houses on their block, after they finished unpacking, which took a day. They went in a clockwise motion, fitting in two houses a day. As Lea's house was to their left and the last one, they were inspected on Christmas Day.

Lea got up early that day, like every other day. Shacklebolt had conceded to Lea and she was allowed to go and practice by herself. Lea did her usual exercises, turning into an animal, in animal form, going into a person's mind and then going to another's mind while in human form.

She came back to her house at about eight, only to see the new neighbors coming up the driveway. She didn't particularly like them all that much, but she also didn't know them that well.

"Can I help you," Luna asked as the woman's fist was about to fall on the door.

"Who are you," the man asked. He had no emotion in his voice and didn't come off as being rude.

"I'm Lea, this is my home," she replied with a smile. This seemed to startle the couple.

"If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing out here," the man said again, voice still emotionless.

"I had to get a few winter plants for science and record how they react to the sudden change in temperature in my house, at exactly 72 degrees," Lea lied. She was getting very good at that and even had some plants in her pockets for 'proof'.

"Oh, are your parents up," the woman asked.

"Mom probably is. I'll go get her for you," Lea said as she walked in the door. Remembering her manners, before she closed the door she smiled and said goodbye.

Lea went into the kitchen to find both Shacklebolt and her mother there, enjoying a nice cup of coffee for Shacklebolt, as he read the Daily Prophet, and some tea for Lea's mother, she was making a list for what she needed to cook for Christmas Dinner that night. Both were dressed, but Shacklebolt in his purple robes.

"Mom, our new neighbors are here. They'd like to speak with you," Lea told her.

"Mr. Shacklebolt, there are some suits in your room. You might want to put them on. These are muggles," she told him. "You can use magic on them."

Lea then went to her room and put on dry pants and to check on Juliet. She was just beginning to wake up and demanded Lea pick her up. Juliet was soon dressed and hungry. As Lea carried Juliet to the kitchen, they heard talking. Well, Lea heard low whispering that sounded like they were yelling and Juliet heard muffled words.

As it turned out, the man's name was Aaron, the woman was Anja. They were whispering about how Kingsley Shacklebolt and Amelia Talbot were NOT married and living together. They obviously had the wrong impression. Lea simply rolled her eyes. When they saw Juliet, the whispering intensified to how they had TWO children. One could easily be from a marriage before, one this young had to be his, even though Juliet had light skin with a few freckles, like her mother and nothing close to resembling anything that Shacklebolt looked like.

"Come on, it's time to eat," Lea told Jewels, as she had started calling her.

"Pudding," cried Juliet.

"No, breakfast. We are eating cereal," Mrs. Talbot said, coming over and taking Juliet. She then fed her some cereal and Lea ate some with a glass of OJ.

"So, what brings you to this small town," Lea asked the couple.

"We needed a different view from the city," Aaron answered.

"It was much too noisy," Anja added.

"Oh. Do you have any Christmas plans," Mrs. Talbot for lack of anything else to say.

"No, but we hope to have met many people by tonight. We might throw a party, but that does not seem like it will happen," Aaron told the group.

"That's too bad," Mrs. Talbot said.

Soon after, the couple left, much to the gratitude of Lea and Shacklebolt, both of whom thought they were creepy.

As it turned out, the couple had decided to keep a very close eye on the family next door. They recorded their movements and stayed away from them. It wasn't long until Aaron and Anja suspected the 'family' of something unChristian like (Aaron and Anja were huge Christians and hated anything to do with what they though were Satanist, a. k. a. Witches and wizards). It wasn't until the next summer that they did anything about it, however.
