11. Chapter 11

1 year later

Luke's POV

"What an honor to be at the home of the famous Luke Hemmings," Cassidy joked as she walked through the door. We were finally on break from tour and I decided to bring Cassidy home with me for a few days. We had gotten pretty close in the past couple of months.

"It's not much, but it's home."

Cassidy placed her oversized suitcase on the floor near the door and made herself at home on the couch. My family shuffled in behind us explaining that dinner would be ready soon. I gave my mom a hug before she exited into the kitchen.

"Aw look at Luke. He's a little momma's boy."

"Very funny," I rolled my eyes.

"No, but seriously I love your family," Cassidy smiled, "I'm glad I was worthy enough for you to take home to your family."

"I don't have many other friends. I didn't have a lot of options,"I smirked. Cassidy got up from the couch and punched my arm. "Ow that hurt."

"Don't mess with me Hemmings. Now come on tell me what you're going to say."

"What do you mean?"

"To Grace stupid. You're going to go see her right?"

Of course I wanted to talk to Grace. The only communication I've had with her for the past year is a few text messages to check up on each other. I missed her. A lot. But I wasn't to sure she wanted to see me. Sure me and Ashton had made up. It didn't take him too long to forgive me after he realized how long I have liked Grace. Plus he has a new girlfriend now, Isabelle, and he was very happy with her.

"I don't know if she wants to see me," I sighed.

"Oh my god. Are you kidding? Of course she wants to see you. She likes you Luke. I know she left on tour or whatever, but she knows Ashton is over it."

"But even after she knew that Ashton wasn't mad at me she still didn't seem very interested in talking to me like she used to. What if she doesn't like me anymore? What if she met someone else?"

"You'll never know unless you talk to her. Come on Luke, we've been over this before."

I sighed, "Ok I'll talk to her tomorrow."

"Luke, what are you wearing right now?" Cassidy yelled from the other side of the door.

"What I usually wear. Jeans and a shirt," I said.

"Let me in," she pounded on the door. I unlocked the door and she burst through it.

"You're going to see Grace today. You are wearing something nice."

"What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" She rolled her eyes and walked over to my closet.

"Do you have any dress pants?" She asked rummaging through my clothes.

"I got a pair from a relative a few years ago. I doubt they would fit me anymore."

"Aha, I found them," she said throwing khakis at me, "Try them on she demanded."

"Don't watch me," I said.

She rolled her eyes and turned around continuing to search through my closet. I changed into the pants and I was right the were to short at the bottom. "They don't fit,"I complained.

"Well they are all we got. Just wear long socks or something." She threw a blue button down shirt at me and said, "Dress to impress Hemmings. Now go get the girl."

I easily remembered how to get to Grace's house. I had been there so many times before. I was still a few feet away when she walked out of her house wearing a floral dress. She looked beautiful. As always. I stopped her before she could get in her car, "Grace wait!"

She looked up confused. And then she saw me.

"Luke," she said it quietly, but I was close enough now to hear her. Then, like a scene from a movie, she smiled and ran to me. I caught her spinning her around in my arms. "I missed you so much," she said to me.

"I missed you too, Grace."

She smiled, "Luke, what are you wearing?" She was examining my outfit and was trying to hold in a laugh.

"I didn't even want to wear this, but Cassidy thought it would be a good idea."

"Oh," she frowned, "Cassidy is with you?"

"Yeah we became pretty close, but we're just friends. We're not together or anything." I scratched the back of my neck nervously.

"Where are you going in that dress. It's not like you to dress up either."

"I was just about to go out. With a friend," she added, "I'm not seeing anyone." She wore a nervous smile.

Grace's POV

Luke Hemmings. My childhood friend. My first crush. My Luke. Standing in front of me. I've missed him so much and there are so many things I've wanted to say to him, but now that he is here I am at a loss for words.

"So the last time we saw each other," he started but I interrupted him.

"Hey you got to give the speech first last time," I laughed," It's my turn. Ok this is probably going to be a lot of random nonsense because I'm very nervous, but it has to be said. So I know there probably could have been a better way to handle the situation with Ashton, but at that moment the only thing I could think about was ruining your friendship and I was willing to do anything to make sure that didn't happen. I know I probably just hurt both of you by leaving, but Ashton's over it so my plan worked, even though it wasn't the best plan. There are so many things I want to say to you, but now that I don't know what to say. And the one thing I really want to say... well I'm scared to say Luke, but I'm just going to go ahead and say it even if you don't feel the same way. For all I know you could have come here to say you just wanted to be friends, but I'm saying it and you can't stop me. And now I'm just rambling but I have to say it," I took a breath, "Luke Hemmings, I love you. I love you and I don't care if you don't feel the same way because I will never regret loving you. You are my best friend and you will always be mine."

After my speech I could barely look him in the eyes. It was quiet and then he grabbed my hands."Hey look at me," he said. After a few seconds I gave in and looked up at him. He had a big smile. He licked his lips once before he started to talk, "Grace you are my best friend. Always have been always will be. There is no doubt in my mind that I, Luke Hemmings, love you. I knew I loved you the moment you wanted to join an awkward little boy in a game that consisted of him walking blindfolded to his house. I knew I loved you then and I know I love you now. Grace, I will always love you."

Author's note:

I really didn't want this story to become cliche or anything, but I literally never updated. It's a lot shorter than I wanted it to be, but this is the end. Well actually I'm going to write an epilogue, but this is the last official chapter. Even though my updating skills lacked I had a lot of fun writing this story and I'm sad it's over. Thank you to anyone who read my story. I'm happy if even a few people enjoyed it. I love you and have a great day :)
