3. Chapter Three

I wake up the next morning from the dream I was having.

I was little, like 4 years old. My dad was standing by my mom. She was freaking out about something and my dad was trying to settle her down. She was bawling her eyes out and screaming. She was pointing into the corner of the basement, there was nothing there. I am standing at the bottom of the stairs just watching them. My dad turns and sees me. He starts yelling but I can't hear him. He lets go of my mother and runs over to me. Then all of a sudden I can hear him. He's telling me to go upstairs and sit in my closet, then close my eyes, turn around and count to ten. He told me not to let my mother see me. I follow his instruction. After I had counted to ten my dad walks in and opens the door, he tells me to get up and that everything is fine now. Just then I see my mother behind him with a big medal thing. I point and my dad grabs her arms, stopping her from hitting him with it. She starts crying and then he drops the medal piece. She begins to hug my dad. When she is settled down, he waves me to get up.

Only it wasn't a was a memory. It was a long time ago, just a few years know.

After all night of thinking, I knew what I had to do. But it would have to be tonight. First I wanted to know more.

"Molly?" I tap on Brandon's mom's shoulder as she sits at her computer desk doing paper work.

She looks up and smiles. "Hey, Radly."

I take the seat next to her. "Can I ask you something?"

"You already did." She jokes.

I smile. "Um, I was wondering if...this might sound you know if my mother has ever had any kind of...mental problems?"

She looks shocked by the question. She turns back towards her papers. "No." She pauses. "No, I don't think so."

I nod. "Can I ask you something else?"

She nods. "Do you know what happened to my dad?"

She sighs loudly. "Radly." She turns around to face me. "That's not a question for me to answer. You're just a kid." There it is again. 'You're just a kid.' Well, I am not just a kid.

"Well, thanks anyway." I tell her as I leave the room.

Since nobody is going to tell me themselves, I'm just going to have to find out for myself. But I have something to do first.

I wake up to the shower turning on in the bathroom. "Zoe?" I ask.

She pokes her head out the bathroom door. "Sorry. I was just going to take shower. I didn't want to wake you."

"It's okay. What do you want for breakfast?"

"I don't know, you choose." She closes the bathroom door again.

I look at the room service menu and get us each a breakfast sandwich and some bacon. By the time Zoe gets out of the shower, the food has already arrived. I set it all out and waited for her to join me.
