Beat of My Heart [Sequel to Irresistible]

Amber finally becomes a newborn vampire and experiences life an entirely different way. She immediately has these new cravings--blood. She becomes the thing that she never wanted to be in the first place, a monster. But unfortunately, Niall is unable to control her. Amber’s urges for more blood grows stronger, which leaves Niall to turn to the only person he thinks can help her. Louis. Will Amber hold on to the love she has for Niall, or leave her humanity behind and fall for someone new?

3. Trusting Louis

Niall's POV.

"Where is she?" I asked once Louis and Harry entered through the front door of the mansion. The two of them looked at each other and Harry said, "She's gone Niall." What?

"I specifically told you two to keep an eye on her. You know she can't be out alone for too long." I said.

"We know. We'll go and find her Niall." Louis said.

"We'll help." Liam and Zayn entered the foyer. I was worried about where Amber could've gone. At this rate, she could be in another city or another state by now. The five of us walked out of the mansion and went our separate ways since we all agreed that it'd be faster to find her.

Louis' POV.

Hours passed and still there was no sign of her. I've crossed three states and ran into Liam a few times. "Have you found her yet?" I asked Liam as we walked down the street. "No, do you think she could've left a trail of some sort?" he asked.

Probably blood. I thought to myself and just shrugged in reply to his answer. Within moments after having a chat, we split up. I felt like this was all my fault. I shouldn't have left her alone with Derek, knowing that she was still new to the whole vampire lifestyle.

I was just about to give up when I saw a flash of hair round a corner. There was a slight scent of blood following after. I followed after, rounding the corner and saw a trail of blood leading down the street into an alleyway.

"Amber?" I asked, stopping at the entrance of the alley. Amber turned and dropped the body, but she didn't move an inch when she saw me.

Amber's POV.

I heard a voice behind me; it sounded a lot like Louis. I turned around, dropping the bloody, and saw Louis standing in front of me. I didn't want Louis to see me this way. I wasn't myself. I had turned into something I wanted to be. The body I dropped was my fifth body that day.

"How did you find me?" I asked him, still not moving from my spot. "Blood." he said, glancing down at the ground and I saw a trail leading to the alley way. I looked down at the body, feeling a bit remorse for the person I killed.

"What's happening to me?" I looked up at him. I was still confused about being a vampire still. I had not stopped killing since this morning. "I'll bring you home." he said. I shook my head at him. I didn't want to go home knowing that Niall will probably yell at me, and that he won't forgive me for all the things I've done.

"You have to go home. We miss you Amber."

"You're speaking for Niall too?" I asked him.

"He's worried about you. He's looking for you too." Louis said. I shook my head, refusing to move from my spot. Louis was in no mood to fight with me and so he picked me up, then threw me over his shoulder.

We arrived at the mansion and he sat me down on the couch in the living room. I crossed my arms over my chest as he took out his phone and began to call the guys. When the guys arrived and entered the living room, I couldn't look up at them.

"Amber," Niall started, sitting down beside me. I looked away from him while the other guys were seated. He began talking about all the dangers of being a vampire. How dangerous it is to be exposed to the outside world, and if anyone found out we existed, they'd find ways to kill us.

I had completely shut everyone out because my mind was directed towards a different topic. Blood. I knew where the guys kept the blood bags for themselves. Must be a lot of bags between the five of them. I thought to myself.

"You're not listening to me are you?" Niall asked, bring me back to reality as I looked at him. "I'm thirsty." I said, getting up and went down into the basement.

As I entered the basement, there were six coolers with names labeled on the top of each cooler. I walked over to my cooler, opening it and saw that it had been filled with blood bags.

"Now Amber, you can only have at least two bags. If you finish all the bags, we're not sure if we'll be able to get more." Niall said, taking me down into the basement and opened a cooler that had my name in it.

I was getting impatient and picked up a bag, holding it in my hand. The blood was intoxicating as I ripped off the top, then began drinking. The blood ran down the back of my throat and I closed my eyes for a moment to savor the taste.

I opened my eyes and looked down at the open cooler, then took out a bag. Ripping off the top, I began to drink the bag. Eventually after five minutes, my cooler was half-empty. The urge to drink more blood was there; the urge to kill everyone.

Then it happened. I lost control and began to drink the remainder of the blood bags in my cooler. It was now empty and I was still thirsty, so I turned to the other five.

Niall's POV.

The guys and I were in the living room waiting for Amber to come back upstairs. We all wondered what was taking her so long. I told the guys that I was going to check up on how she was doing. I stood up from the couch and even before I reached the basement, I smelt blood.

Once I reached the bottom of the stairs, blood bags were scattered around the floor. Amber stood, facing me with blood shot eyes. I'm guessing it was the same look she had seen in my eyes the night of her Senior prom, except it was a bit different.

It was as if they were stone cold, like there was no life in them. No words were spoken between us because I didn't know what to tell her. Everything had seemed to explain itself the moment I entered the basement.

Amber wasn't the same girl I had fallen in love with. "Amber," I began, but what was there to say. "You know something Niall, I've never felt so... so alive in my entire life! I feel great, fantastic even!" Amber smiled, then licked her blood stained fingers.

She walked towards my direction while I felt myself being pressed against the wall. "Thank you. But now, I have to go since you mean nothing to me." she said. What? After a few seconds, immediate blackness.

When I awoke, my neck began to hurt a little. I blinked a few times to see the guys surrounding me. I sat up, realizing that I was in the living room. "Where's Amber?" I asked, looking around.

"She left after knocking you out." Harry said.

"She's gone." I said, glancing down at the picture of she and I on the coffee table. It was the only picture of us when we dated back in high school. I guess things were different now that she was a vampire. "She's going to come back." Liam said.

"She's never going to come back. She's gone... forever." I stood up and stormed out of the room, slamming the bedroom door behind me. I sat down on the bed, putting my head in my hands. I ran a hand through my hair when I heard a knock at the door.

"Come in." I said, knowing who it was. Louis entered and closed the door behind him. "I'm probably the last person you want to talk to right now." he said. I looked up at him for a moment, then back towards the ground. "Can you help me get her back?" I asked, looking at him.

"What?" he asked.

"I'm asking you as a friend to do this for me. I want you to help me get her back. The blood's gone to her brain, and that's all she could ever think about. You guys helped me when I was like that, and so I'm asking you to help her. Please." I said.

Louis was silent for a moment. Probably to process all of the information that he's been told. He must've been thinking about other things. "Sure, I'll help her." he smiled after about five minutes of silence. "Thanks." I said.

"No problem." he said, patting my shoulder and then left the room. I had put all my trust in Louis, and I hoped, prayed even, that he won't mess anything up.
