Forbidden ~ Harry Styles ~ (On Hold)

* Harry is not famous in this story *

Many say how there are two kinds of people in this world.

In Pax town there certainly are two kinds of very different people. I never really understood the name of our little town, after all "pax" means peaceful in latin, but believe me, we're anything but.

From a very young age I've been told to stay away from them. You may call them The Rebels, but out here everyone calls them the lower class, the scums, the bastards.

We are very different from them, like North and South, hot and cold; we're complete opposites. Besides the constant rumours about them going around, I can't help but think what it would be like to be them for a day....

My father would never allow it. He'd never let his only daughter do anything close to danger.
Apart from all the warnings, there's always one of the rebels who catches my eye.

I believe his name is Harry, Harry Styles.

17. The Ethical Thing To Do

"Did he try to kiss you again?" Bella's mocking tone was more than evident. We walked the same path that we had travelled more times than I was able to count.

"When does he not?" The comment from James was enough to have them in fits of laughter.

"Not very nice." Their humour ceased at my words and a sly smile made its way across my lips, "But yes, he did try to kiss me. I thankfully avoided it."

With that they were holding in their laughs once more, only this time I happily joined them.

"When will you tell him?" The question caught me by surprise and I was only capable of swallowing the lump in my throat before responding.

"Tell him what?" My voice didn't shake or quaver and I was very thankful for it.

"Oh dear, did you really think I wouldn't notice?" At her words I immediately stopped walking and turned to her awaiting the worst, "You don't want to marry Luke."

I tried to calm my rapid heart beat without visibly placing my hand against my chest. For a moment I thought she was going to mention Harry. "Of course, Bella, you always manage to read my mind."

She smiled at my answer, one full of pride, "I know just about everything that goes through that little head of yours."

I rolled my eyes at her conceded tone but smiled at my closest friend, "Please do tell me how you do such things." I try my most dramatic voice to play along with her.

"Witchcraft." A bored looking James responds for her. I cover my mouth with the palm of my hand as Bella turns to glare at her cousin, but still the muffled noise of my laughter is heard.

"That's interesting, I never knew pigs could talk!" Bella screams at an unaffected looking James who clicks his tongue against his teeth.

"And yet hear me ramble on and on, dearest cousin." Suddenly James gasps in realisation and turns to me, "This black magic is worst than we thought, making animals talk! We need to leave this mad woman!"

With a quick laugh he pulls my hand making me run with him. "James! Stop this nonsense." I hear Bella yell as she runs after us. I only laugh at her flushed face as she's aware of the observant eyes around us.

We turn a corner and our laughter quietens in an instant. "I will murder you, James, I pro-" James had just enough time to muffle her whining as I signalled to the scene before us.

Avy, Shade and Lottes stood in front of Luke and his friends. Each girl had a look of pure rage that was stronger than the one before.

"I'll ask this once so you better tell me the truth, why are you here?" Luke's voice has a hostile undertone and his gaze a sharp glare.

"We're looking for someone." Lottes answered as if she wasn't phased by the murderous look he was giving them.

"Liar. Probably here to steal so-" "Shut up." Luke's companion stopped talking as soon as the loud command reached his ears.

"Who is it that you're looking for?" As they talked we tried our hardest to stay out of sight thanks to the various plants beside the houses.

"Are we answering to you now? We have the same rights as you to visit whichever part of town we like." I watched as Shade took a step forward, boredom clear in her eyes.

Avy seemed the calmest in this situation, or perhaps she was awaiting for something to really set her off.

"You could be right, but rights don't apply to rebels." I was more than shocked at Luke's response. Who was he to order then around? I had the urge to to walk out and shame Luke for this, but instead I stood waiting.

"I'll tell the authorities they were stealing a poor shop owner's products. You can handle them."

Luke did not disagree with his friend and instead seemed like he was getting ready to beat the girls in front of him.

"Touch us and you'll see what happens to your hand." It was the first time Avy had spoken but her voice did not sound like her own. It was much more intimidating in a way that showed she wasn't lying.

"Goodness." I barely heard James whisper beside me.

Avy's threat seemed to distract Luke for only a moment before he started getting closer to them.

I couldn't take it any longer and before Luke could move again I was already in front of him. "Stop. Let them be."

"Rachel." Both Luke and Lottes said in unison.

"Is this the kind of matters you 'handle' when I'm not around?" At this point, I was more than upset with him. For a while I thought he was only so cold with Harry, but what I witnessed was no child's game.

"Rachel, we've been looking for you. There's something we need to talk to you about." Avy said in a much softer voice, her real voice.

I turned to her and nodded slowly. Luke seemed to awake from his shock at that moment.

"Rachel you can't go with them, they're dangerous!" I fought the urge to laugh at his attempt.

"From what I have just seen, I'm in more danger with you than any of them. They want to talk and I will listen to anything they have to say."

From the corner of my eye I saw James and Bella slowly walk towards me.

"We'll take care of her." James assured him with a wave of his hand.

"Rachel, what are you doing?"

"The ethical thing to do." I replied with as much persuasion as I had in me, "They're people, not monsters, Luke."

As if he realised his position in this situation, Luke quickly turned to James and his gaze hardened once more. "I see one scratch on her and you won't be able to smile again."

After one more look over his shoulder, he walked away with his friends following along.

When I was sure that he was far enough I turned to Shade, Lottes and Avy. "What did you want to talk about?"

A concerned look crossed over Lotte's face.

"There's something wrong with Harry."
