Emily Potter, Year 1

I’m Emily Lily Potter. If you haven’t already guessed by the last name, I’m Harry Potter's sister. We’re both the same age, we’re twins. I look like our mother and he looks like our father, Weird huh? I don’t live with the all terrible Dursley’s and I sure as heck don’t live under the stairs! I have been living with my godfather (Remus Lupin) since I was about 5. My mother (Lily Potter) dropped me off at the home of some Muggles less than a day before she died. But the first 5 years of my life were worse than Harry’s, since I was painfully skinny and usually ended cut by broken glass (I had magical issues with the windows). But Lupin managed to locate me when I was 5 and it was a heck of a lot better after that. Anyway, I’m going to go to Hogwarts soon and that should be real fun, maybe I’ll even make some friends!

2. Snake

                                                              Emily's P.O.V.

I woke up at roughly 10:00 and rubbed my eyes. The light out of my open window shown in my face. I reluctantly got out of bed and stretched, the house was still silent and the quiet made it seem vacant. I had slept in my cloths again but honestly I didn’t care.

I walked down stairs and walked over to the door when the owl pecking at the door got so annoying I couldn’t ignore it. I grabbed five Knuts out of my pocket and opened the door, the owl looked at me irritably I grabbed the paper out of its beak and gave it the five bronze coins. It dropped them in a small pouch on its leg and flew off. I ran my eyes through The Daily Prophet, nothing interesting just a few boring things going on with The Ministry.

I dropped the paper on the table and made some eggs, toast and bacon. I ate as quickly as possible left a note saying I’d gone exploring and left. I took a deep breath of the cool forest air and walked away from the house. My body slowly woke up. “Come on Panther.” I said and the large tom jumped down from the limb of a tree and down to the ground beside me.

“Last one to the river is a wet fur ball!” I cried and raced as fast as I could through the forest. Wind whipped back my long hair and I enjoyed the rush of blood pounding in my ears. Just as usual Panther beat me. He sat by the river bed looking rather smug.

“Fine you won.” I said I angrily and fell backwards to the ground and stared at the sky, I would get up when I got bored.

Panther yawned, opening his mouth far wider than it seemed possible so that his many white fangs gleamed. After about 12 minutes I got bored of sitting about doing nothing so I got up and I jumped across the river continuing onward. I climbed trees, watched birds and did adventurous stuff but nothing greatly interesting happened until I started walking home. Panther had left me and I was walking back home.

I saw a long green tail whip out of sight and decided to investigate. “Hello?” I called and watched the tail slip down a hole. I shrugged and continued walking. I paused after a while when I heard hissing. I spun around and saw the biggest snake I had ever seen. It was green and at least three broomsticks long and about as thick around and my waist. I stared at it and began to back away slowly but as I moved the snake moved.

My eyes widened as I saw it get into a position to strike. Its slitted eyes gleamed in the sunlight. “Oh my.” I said and burst into a run, I just had to get home and I would be perfectly safe! I felt at least 20 hooked teeth fasten themselves in the flesh of my leg. I fell down to the ground and bit back a scream, not like anyone would hear me I was too far from home for Lupin to and far away from anyone else.

I tried to squirm out of the snakes grasp but the more I moved the deeper the snake’s fangs dug. I screamed I was going to end up losing my leg. I grabbed the creatures head and struggled to pry it open, I managed and yanked its top 2 rows of teeth off and then did the same with the bottom two. I pulled my leg under my body and let go of the snake’s jaws.

The snake shook its mighty head, now covered in my blood. It stared at me with a look that said ‘Until next time’. And it slithered away. I moved my leg slowly into my sight. It was torn up and very, very bloody. I shook (from loss of blood) and fear. I don’t like blood. I took a deep breath and tore off my shirt sleeve and tightly tied it around the wound. It would help for now, just until I got home and got to my room to mess with it.

If I hurried home I may be able to get there before Lupin woke up and then there would be no need for him to worry. I began to run but tripped and howled in pain, tears ran down my face. I allowed myself to cry for a minute or so before I got up and limped towards home. I was beginning to think that I wouldn’t be able to hide this from my God-Father.

Blood had already soaked through the shirt sleeve and was beginning to do the same with my pant leg. Finally home came within sight. I tried to look as casual as possible as I strode up to the house, if Lupin saw me I would look just as I always did when walking home.

How in the name of Merlin am I going to pull this off? I asked myself and tightened the shirt sleeve on my wound. I took a deep breath, a step forward and walked into the house. Lupin was sitting at the kitchen table looking at The Daily Prophet. He had a fresh scar across the left side of his face. He looked up when I walked in. “Hey, what have you been up to?” He asked

I felt like sleeping. “Nothing much.” I said and groaned as my legs buckled and I hit the ground Lupin jumped out of the chair and raced over looking over the blood that had soaked through my pant leg. I felt light headed and tired. I felt consciousness slowly slip away “Everything’s going to be okay.” Lupin said “Everything’s going to be okay.’
