Lily Potter and the attacker from Tonsadore

I'm Lily Potter. Yep, Daughter of Harry Potter. This will be my first year of Hogwarts, along with my best friend, Hugo Weasley. My dad and mum never told me about why they were apparently 'Famous'... I had to find that out on my own... In more ways then one...

2. The confused sorting.

I was sitting in a canoe with Hugo. We were gazing across the lake at a squid. I had heard about the squid of course. James told me a lot about it. But even then I was shocked at how large it was. After a while, Hugo gave me a playful shove. "look." he whispered. I looked over at Hugo and followed his gaze. It was Hogwarts. I couldn't believe how amazing it seemed. I mean, I've seen Hogwarts before. But never in this angle, never like this.

Professor McGonagall was explaining the sorting hat to us. "The sorting hat will sort you into one of four houses. Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. Please excuse me while we get things prepared."  She went through the doors that I supposed lead to the great hall. Once the doors closed behind her, everyone started talking. I turned to Hugo and Jake who seemed to be following us. "What if I'm not in Gryffindor?!" I asked nervous. Hugo rolled his eyes at me. "Don't worry. You will. I promise." He said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes at him, and turned to Jake. "So what house do you hope to be in?" I asked. He shrugged. "I don't know. What's the difference?" I looked at him, surprised "You don't know?" I asked. "My parents aren't wizards like yours are." He said. "Ohhh" "That's not a bad thing though, is it?" He asked nervously. "No! of course not!" I replied. "But what's the difference between the houses?" He asked "Well, Gryffindor is for the brave. Its the best house, in my opinion of course. Ravenclaw is for the intelligent. Ravenclaw is probably my second choice. Then there's Hufflepuff, they favor the loyal and kind. They're not too bad. I wouldn't wanna be one though. and lastly there's Slytherin. Apparently they are cunning and ambitious." Jake must have realized the expressions we were making because he said "That doesn't sound too bad." But before we could reply, McGonagall returned through the huge arched doors. "They're ready for you." She said, as we followed her into the great hall. I was amazed at how large the room was. I mean, It might be larger then your house. I looked around towards the Gryffindor table. A few people who I knew waved.

"Look! The ceiling!" someone shouted. I looked up. There were candles floating above our heads, but that wasn't the amazing part. The amazing part, was the ceiling...or actually... There was no ceiling. It seemed to be the night sky, but I knew it couldn't have been. The moon on the ceiling was full, but the current moon was a crescent. I mumbled to Hugo "Its not real." He either didn't hear me, or just didn't feel like answering.

Professor McGonagall said something, that I didn't hear, and sat a musty old hat down on a stool. Hugo and I exchanged glances. I jumped a little when it started... well... singing!

Oh you may not think I'm pretty,

But don't judge on what you see,

I'll eat myself if you can find,

A smarter hat then me.

You can keep your bowlers black,

Your top hats sleek and tall,

For I'm the Hogwarts sorting hat,

and I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your head

the sorting hat can't see

so try me on and I will tell you

where you ought to be,

You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart

Their daring, nerve and chivalry

set Gryffindor apart

You might belong in Hufflepuff,

Where they are just and loyal,

Those patient hufflepuffs are true

 and unafraid of toil

or yet in wise old Ravenclaw

if you've a ready mind

where those of wit and learning

will always find their kind

Or perhaps in Slytherin

you'll make your real friends,

those cunning folk use any means

to achieve their ends

So put me on! don't be afraid!

And don't get in a flap!

You're in safe hands!(though I have none)

For I'm a thinking cap!

When the sorting hat seemed like it was done, McGonagall lifted it off of the stool. And, without saying another word, began to call names.

"Talanor, Sarah!" a blonde haired girl stumbled up to the stool and sat down. she seemed very nervous. It took only a few seconds before the sorting hat shouted "Hufflepuff!" The hufflepuff table cheered as the girl skipped happily to her new house table.

"Green, John!" "Ravenclaw!"

"Freeman, Thomas!" "Ravenclaw!"

"Satchmei, Alexia!" "Slytherin!"

"Maxwell, Jake!" I looked over at Jake. He jumped a bit and looked nervously at me and Hugo. I gave him a push and he slowly walked over to the stool. He looked at McGonagall, Then sat down on the wooden stool. McGonagall sat the hat on his head. For a few moments the sorting hat seemed to be mumbling something to Jake, then shouted  "Gryffindor!" He shot out of the stool just as McGonagall was removing the sorting hat from his head, and joined the Gryffindor table.

McGonagall called a few more names, and then called Zach's name. I watched him as he calmly approached the stool. It was almost as if he already knew what house he was going to be in. The sorting hat was sat on his head. "Slytherin!" It called.

Right after Zach, the sorting hat called Hugo. I glanced at the Gryffindor table. My family, and the Weasley family, seemed to actually start watching the sorting. I stood on my toes to get a better view. I watched him sit down. I crossed my fingers for him. Just as the sorting hat touched his head, it shouted "Gryffindor!" I clapped along with the Gryffindor house. He looked over at me and I gave him my signature grin.

After a while, everyone had been called to the sorting hat except for me and Scorpius.I gave him an awkward smile, and he glared at me. But it wasn't his usual glare. It was softer... and his gaze seemed to linger on me more then necessary.

"Malfoy, Scorpius!" He walked over to the stool, without hesitation, and sat down.

For some strange reason, I hoped he would be in Gryffindor. But it was only a seconds thought, because once the hat touched the hair on his head- "Slytherin!!" as the Slytherin table cheered and he went to take his seat, I stood there awkwardly. Even though I knew I was next, I still waited for her to call my name.

"Potter, Lily!" She called. I took a deep breath and slowly walked to the stool. I could hear people whispering things about me. Like "THATS Harry Potter's daughter?" or "but I heard she was extremely strong..." I sighed to myself. You might not believe it, but I'm way stronger then I look. Victoire, James, Ryan and Teddy must have spread that around... I looked over to Albus, James, Victoire, Rose, Teddy and Hugo, who had all ended up sitting with each other. They gave me a smile and a thumbs up. I gave them a slight smile and walked a little faster to the stool. I sat down and closed my eyes as McGonagall placed the sorting hat on my head.

For a few seconds the sorting hat said nothing. I clenched my eyes closed and gripped the edge of the stool. "Lily... Potter...." I jumped a little and opened my eyes. "The daughter of Harry Potter..."  I looked up at the brim of the sorting hat, which fell under my eyebrows. "Granddaughter of James Potter..."  I could feel as if everyone could hear what the sorting hat was saying. "You've had a nice, calm childhood, haven't you? But that's all about to change..." I closed my eyes again. "You're much like your father... But anyways, onto the sorting." I took a deep breath. "You seem very loyal and kind...but also extremely intelligent...and very, very brave...and yet, at the same time, sly.... but... where to put you?" I looked around while the sorting hat was thinking. a few people seemed to be leaning forward in their seats. Could they really hear what the sorting hat was saying? "Slytherin!!" I drew a sharp breath. A few people  looked shocked. Including the teachers. Someone began clapping at the Slytherin table, but immediately stopped once they realized nobody else was clapping. "No..." I jumped again. The sorting hat was still talking. "Hufflepuff?" He shouted in more of a question. "Raven-...." He stopped in mid sentence. I felt as if the sorting hat was shifting through all my memories, then suddenly it shouted "Gryffindor!!!" After a few seconds of shock, everyone in the great hall began clapping. McGonagall took off the sorting hat and helped me up. I brushed the hair out of my face and walked slowly over to the Gryffindor table, and took a seat next to Hugo and Jake.

"That was wicked." mumbled Hugo.
