It's Complicated

Zoey Tomlinson thinks her life is amazing before she finds out things she isn't supposed to. There are things she was never supposed to know. She wants to know more, but her 'dad' tells her to drop it. He's saying everything she hears is a lie. But something tells her differently.

1. Chapter One

Zoey's P.O.V.

I couldn't ask for a better life. I have an amazing best friend, Rachel, and the best boyfriend anyone could ask for, Tyler. Until today.

I was going shopping with Rachel, when we decided to get some ice cream. They have this really nice orange couch there that you wait on for your ice cream. I always wanted a couch just like it in my room. Not anymore. The awesomeness of that couch kind of fades when you find your boyfriend making out with another girl on it. But do you want to know what makes it worse? Finding out it's your worst enemy, Alyssa that he's making out with. Rachel noticed me staring and looked over. My best friend is amazing, but sometimes I wish she wouldn't have so much nerve. "Tyler? You're such an idiot! And Alyssa? You knew he was dating Zoey! Some people just have a lot of nerve!" she yelled at them. Tyler's eyes widened as he noticed he was caught. "Zoey, I-" I cut him off. "Save it, Tyler. We're over. How could you do something like this?" I yelled and walked out. Tears spilt as I sat on the curb and waited for Rachel. Who knows what she's doing. A minute later she came out. "We still need ice cream." she said and handed me a cone. I smiled weakly and licked it, the cold sending shivers down my spine as I swallowed. "Tyler is an idiot." she said. I looked at her, trying to hold my emotions in, but failing. She hugged me. "He's not worth it. Any guy who could do that to you doesn't know what he's missing." she said. "Thanks, but that doesn't change the fact that he told me he loved me and I believed it. Then he goes around kissing other girls. Especially Alyssa? He knew she was rude to me! He lied and told me he hates her too!" I said. "I know, Zo. But some guys just don't use their brains." she said. I nodded. "Well I better get home. I don't want to be out here like this." I said. She nodded. "You can spend the night at mine if you don't want to be alone feeling like this." she said. "Thanks, but I'm okay." I said. And I was. I can handle emotions myself. We said goodbye and I walked the rest of the way home.

I walked in the door and heard my parents talking. They didn't notice I came in, so being the nosey person I am, I listened in. "You can't tell her. She'll hate us." my dad said. "David, it's her right to know. If she finds out on her own it will be even worse. She needs to know she's adopted." my mom said. "Carrie, Zoey is technically our daughter, do you want her to hate us?" he said. WHAT? I'M ADOPTED? AND THEY DIDN'T TELL ME? I ran up to my room. I'll deal with this later. Right now, I just need some sleep.
