Don't Let Me Go

Raelynn has to move halfway across the world for her fathers job, San Diego is all she's ever known. Will meeting a special someone turn a bad situation around?

3. Landing in London

I woke up as the plane was gliding down to land. I turned my music off and looked at my brother and sister who were too young to really have much of an opinion on moving. Actually they were very excited to get out of sunny San Diego and come to a rainy city. Me and my siblings differed in many ways actually. My brother Brent was quite small for his age, but that didn't stop him from playing ever sport he could. He took after my mother who had very dark brown curly hair and piercing green eyes. My sister Torrie on the hand took after my father as well as I did. We both had long blonde wavy hair and deep brown eyes. While my sister was actually quite tall for 9 I was quite short. I was drawn away from my thinking by the flight attendant announcing our arrival. We got off the plane and we all got our luggage and headed to get cabs. I glanced around at my surroundings, tall buildings in view with the cool air nipping at my bare arms. When we arrived it would be 7:30 AM at home, but here it was 11:30 PM. On our way to the cab I was thinking of how my friends would now be getting ready for school with graduation only a week away. I begged my parents to let me stay to at least graduate but my dad needed this job to start now. My siblings had already been enrolled in a school for next year, my mom started her own job in a bank in 4 days, my dad started his job as a medical researcher in 2 days, while I on the other hand had college applications to stress over. We finally arrived at the taxi and we loaded up and I looked out my window taking in all of the sights. I had to admit that I'd always wanted to live in the city, but I imagined New York, not London. My mom and dad came here a few weeks ago to finalize our 4 bedroom apartment lease. When we finally arrived there were boxes everywhere from where they had bought all new furniture except our rooms, we were going shopping tomorrow to purchase the rest off the items, until then I was stuck on the couch. Yay me. Could this day honestly get any worse? I decided that since I had been on a plane for quite a while I went to the shower. When I got out I put my bags in my room and changed into a pair of sweatpants and an oversized sweatshirt with my hair in a bun. I start to take my clothes out and place them on the floor when I realized that I was actually starving. I walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge wondering if they had bought anything yet. All they had was orange juice and grapes. It was better than nothing so I finished my snack, brushed my teeth, plugged my phone into charge and laid down on the couch to quickly fall asleep with the thoughts of the next few months clouding my mind wondering what was left to come.
