Just whatever rants come to mind. This seems to be a great way to vent.

10. Back to Actual Ranting- Genres

Really felt like I got way off topic in the last three chapters, so I'm making up for it now. Wrong genres. It pisses me off so much that I've dedicated an entire rant to it. Maybe more, we'll have to see.

So, you guys notice how many fanfictions are being wrongly labeled on this site? Of course, it's impossible not to notice it. The first movella that I uploaded onto this site was a romance. When you go to the romance section, seven of them are fanfictions with celebrities. And another two are Harry Potter fanfictions. Now, I don't really have anything against the HP fanfictions, partly because I'm a Potterhead, and partly because I can see why they've put it under Romance. Would they ever get any reads if they put it in fanfiction?

A loud, resounding, NOO!!!!! Their fanfictions, which considering the one I read, are pretty good. Yet they get barely any attention because people are far more interested in curly hair and dimples. Their work would get smothered underneath the tons of cheesy romance and obscenity that fangirls created on a sugar rush.

By the way, I'd just like to take this moment to point out that I don't hate all One Directioners, just the ones that don't behave nicely, and don't acknowledge the fact that this is a site for teenage writers, not Literotica.

But... back to the rant. You know, I discovered this handy orange button called "hide fanfic" that shouldn't be restricted just to the romance site, but should be posted in every page on the site. Really, it should. I click that button, and here's the verdict. There's still two boy singer fanfictions on the front page. There are a couple of wolf-y ones. I don't read those, but I'm pretty sure they should be in Paranormal. But, whatever.

The second movella that I wrote, that you know, wasn't this rant, and not the mock-fiction, was a fantasy. Now, fantasy fares slightly better than romance. But seeing a red-eyed Harry Styles in first place slightly gets on my nerves every time I open up the page. Somebody did gather the courage to tell them to put the book in the fanfiction genre (in capitals by the way), where it rightly belongs. The answer was,

"oh and what would that do?"

Exact words. Now, I don't get it. If you're writing something about vampires, naturally they go in paranormal. I think that's a given for anyone with an ounce of common sense. Twilight is a "paranormal" romance, not a "fantasy" romance. Get your genre straight! I hope they don't read this. So, this person made a double-mistake.

I mean, genres are important people! People come to the fantasy page to get away from the torrent of fanfictions. You too may have been a victim of this if you went to the fantasy page, so a little something to make you guys feel better. It's a relatively new anti-fanfic, but so far amazing.

"When the War Began, there was no conflict."

Like you guys know, I don't know how to put links in this or even if we can. So, the authors are Melody_Malone, Mirlotta, WritingfortheShire234, and LittleMsHollywood. I don't think I need to convince you to read it after you read those names.
