8. Chapter 7

Justin's finger was still rested on the trigger. For some reason, Peyton had mixed feelings about what he was going to do. Did she really want Colton gone? Her mind screamed yes but her heart kept saying no. So, she closed her eyes.

And the gunshot was heard.

Her eyes shot open. Justin had lowered his hand--the look of satisfaction slowly seeping off of his face. Colton was still standing there, unharmed and wide-eyed. And on the floor, Peyton saw, was Cooper--dead and covered with blood.

She heard a muffled cry as Colton bent down to mourn over his brother. Peyton shivered as Ryan pulled her behind Justin.

"You killed my brother!" Colton yelled. "What the fuck is wrong with you?"

Peyton saw Justin take a deep breath. She noticed the ripple of his muscles underneath his shirt as he did so; like he'd been working out a lot more when they were separated.

"I didn't mean to," Justin said calmly. "He jumped into the bullet's path. He chose to die."

Colton angrily dropped Cooper's hand onto his bloody chest. "You bastard."

"It wasn't my fault!" Justin protested, though, Peyton had no clue why.

"I suggest that you drop that gun, Bieber." Colton spat as he rose from the floor. Justin hesitantly dropped the gun and Peyton bit back a scream. But, before she could, the gun was kicked toward her feet. She looked down at it, and then up at Justin who was looking back at her with a weary look on his face. She nodded, knowing what he wanted. He turned around to face Colton again.

"It's on the floor." Justin said.

Colton grinned wickedly. "Good. Now, Peyton, please pick it up."

Peyton's whole body jolted at Colton calling her name. It took all of her will-power to bend down and pick up the gun, and then step in front of Justin. Colton gestured for her to walk over to him, so she did. Sooner than she though, her forehead was pressed up against his and the gun was resting sideways on her chest. Dakota stood off to the side--coincidentally right in the path of her bullets. A plan started forming in her head.

Colton smiled. "This was unexpected. All I wanted was the gun, you know."

"I know you want me, too." Peyton said.

"You're right," The corner of his mouth shot up a little bit. "But he won't let me have you."

"Yeah," Peyton agreed. "But you wouldn't be able to have me anyways."

Peyton had shot the gun toward Dakota--who fell to the ground with a strangled cry--,had managed to do what Justin did, and hook her feet behind Colton's, sending him to the ground as well, before he could reply.

She quickly placed her boot on his chest and pointed the gun down. For the first time ever, she saw that Colton was genuinely afraid of getting killed. He didn't want to die, and everybody knew it. But Peyton already had her finger on the trigger, and was asking him if he had any last words.

"I do, actually." He struggled to say. "I loved you first. Before him." He pointed at Justin. "I saw you first, and I've loved you ever since then. Now, since I said that, we'll see if I actually die."

Peyton fought the urge to just use a knife to slice his head off instead of a gun with perfect bullets.

"Good riddance, Colton." Peyton spat before she pulled the trigger, and ended Colton's life.

The gun clattered to the floor and Peyton sunk to her knees. Justin rushed over to her and wrapped his arms around her. She buried her face into his chest and cried. Cried like she'd never cried before.

Colton was finally dead.

In fact, all of the Prezlocki's were dead.

The one thing that they were all wondering now was: Would their life finally be normal?

And the answer--even though they didn't know it--was, Yes. Their life would be somewhat normal.

For a little while, anyways.

Helllooooo :) I don't know if you guys can see it or not, but I accidentally published the Prologue to Killing Her Slowly. So if you see that story up there, it's not really published. It will be, though. Hopefully soon. :D
