The Hotline

"Do you think anyone would miss me?" A deep, raspy voice comes on the line, before I even say my name."Do you think anyone would care? If I pull the trigger of this gun, who would miss me?" I am startled by the sound of a gun being loaded. I am about to respond, when suddenly I hear a shot go off.

19. Chapter Nineteen

XXXPlease read my other fanfic, I'll be updating there a little bit more than on here. Enjoyxx

"DO NOT WALK AWAY LEXI!" I bellow as my little sister walks up the stairs.

"What!" She yells at back me.

"What do you want from me? What do you want me to do?!" I yell at her.

"I wanted you here! I needed help, and you ran away, with that arse." She points at Harry who is still behind me.

"I didn’t run away! I can't keep baby-sitting you! I AM NOT MOM!" As soon as the words levee my mouth, I instantly regret them. I close my eyes and breath in.

"No! I'm so sorry I killed mom!" She yells in tears, whilst stomping up the stairs. All i hear is her door slam shut.

Everything inside of me, gives up. I don’t know whether to run after her or stay put. After a while I decide to go with the latter.

“I’m such a terrible person.” I breathe sinking to the floor leaning up against the front door.

“No you’re not, you’re just human.” Harry says sliding down next to me.

As soon as we go home from the pub, Lexi raced to her room trying to avoid my interrogation. Now we were six hundred steps back, and I didn’t know how to fix things.

The only thing I was certain of was, that my dad was in for some hell.

Harry and I ended up leaving, after an hour of waiting for Lexi to come back down to talk. He insisted that we go to his place, but I just wanted to be alone. So now I’m at the office and Harry is sitting on my couch as I’m at my desk with my legs propped up.

I don’t know what else to do to clear my head so I decided to go ahead and solve other people’s problems.

“Maddy speaking, I’m here to listen.” I say softly into the phone and immediately I hear the sniffling of a girl on the line.

“Hey, hey. It’s okay, you’re okay, and it’ll be okay. What’s on your mind?”

I listen and forget about my problems, trying to find a way to keep this girl’s mind off of the worst outcome. After about an hour or so, she finally has enough strength to get off the line and I know she’ll be okay. But the inevitable question pops into my mind as soon as I disconnect.

Am I okay?

Once I put the phone back onto the base, I turn my chair to find Harry still sitting down on the couch, smiling at me.

“What?” I ask.

“You save lives on so many occasions and you don’t even flinch.” He says softly and I feel the blush creeping up. But then I remember the time I did flinch, and the reason is right in front of me.

“There was one time, when I didn’t know what to do.” I say almost inaudibly, and Harry rises from his seat.

“Can I take a wild guess as to who was on the line?” He asks whilst sitting down on my desk, grabbing my legs and placing them on his lap.

“I’m all out of advice, and it’s six in the morning and I haven’t slept. Not exactly how you pictured your birthday, huh?” I ask leaning my head back on my chair.

“It was amazing, because I finally go my girl.”

I blush and suddenly my eyes begin to droop down. I need to sleep.

“C’mon, lets go to sleep.” Harry says walking me to the couch.

“Styles, you should know I’m not that type of girl.” I smirk as he lays down extending his whole body on the couch.

“Shut it.” He smiles, his dimples popping whilst he reaches for me to lay down in the small space next to him.

I walk over and make myself confortable next to him. And we sleep, a really good sleep.
