Poetry - Zayn Malik Fanfiction

Zayn Malik. He's sweet and caring. Never would he hurt a soul. That's his cover. His dirty past is built of lies and destruction. He finds a girl, a girl by the name of Noel. What keeps them sane? Poetry.

“Promise me you'll never forget me because if I thought you would, I'd never leave.” -  A.A. Milne

It was the day, the day that Zayn would leave for France. Noel could barely believe it. She found herself pinching her skin, actually pinching, as if she would snap out of a dream at any given moment. Unfortunately, it was not a dream, but merely the harsh reality.

Noel and Zayn decided to take Sasha with them to the airport. Although Zayn and Sasha had a hard time, Noel could tell Sasha would miss him, even though Sasha chose to deny it. Noel could see it in her eyes.

They started to drive away from Sasha and Noel’s apartment, onto the road.

Away from Bradford forever.

“Zayn,” Noel said from the passenger’s seat, glancing at Zayn. “What time does the flight leave again?”

“Ten,” he responded. The car turned into the freeway. Sasha piped up.

“We have two more hours.”

Noel bit her lip. Only two more hours were left with Zayn. She was already starting to miss him, even though he was literally right next to him. She put her hand on his leg, catching his smile. Sasha sighed from the back, leaning forward.

She sat back again, and Noel looked at her. She was looking down. “This is probably the best time to say this,” she mumbled. “I’m sorry.”

Zayn was quiet, so was Noel. It was so unexpected, being Sasha was normally the kind of person who didn’t admit to things. Noel was proud of her. She looked at Zayn, curious to see his reaction.

“I accept that apology and um,” he licked his lips. “I’m sorry too.”

Noel spoke. “Awwww, aren’t you two so mushy?”

“Mushy,” Sasha retorted. “Strange way to put it.”

“Is not,” Noel laughed. She was glad the last few hours were spent happily, with no hatred.

“We’re here,” Zayn said, turning into the parking lot. He paid the guy at the parking lot box thing a few bucks. Noel insisted to pay, being it was her car, but he refused. He sold his car so he could buy a new, cheap one in France. Like that would be easy.

They climbed out of the car as Zayn parked. Noel softened as Zayn wrapped his arm around her waist, knowing she would have to savor every physical touch of him. Sasha trailed next to them as they walked through the doors.

Noel hated airports. Everybody was in such a rush, carrying their luggage and sweating as they ran. She hated the added pressure of waiting in a long line, having to lift up the heavy suitcases with people behind judging the person. That was only her opinion.

Sasha and Noel stayed behind as Zayn waited in line to load his luggage. “You’re really gonna miss him, aren’t you?” Sasha said, taking a seat on a padded bench. Noel sat next to her, crossing her legs.

“Like Hell,” she said. “It’s just like- he is my first ever actual boyfriend… well was.”

Sasha looked at her. “You’ve never had a boyfriend before him?”

“Well,” she responded. “I’ve kissed this guy named Tony in ninth grade, but that was it. We just kissed, but it trailed off from there I guess.”

“Oh,” Sasha nodded. “Love’s hard to find, anyway.”

“Have you had a boyfriend before Zayn?”

“Yeah. His name was… Carl? Yeah. It was tenth grade to the middle of eleventh grade. He broke up with me because he was seeing another girl or something.”

“Must be those hormones.” Noel laughed in return, seeing Zayn, with a backpack slung over his shoulder. He looked very handsome that day, with his hair pulled into a mousy quiff. He wore an old rock band t-shirt and skinny jeans. She loved his skinny jeans; it really showed off his long legs.

She knew she would never be with those long legs again.

The flight came sooner than expected. The three friends had a light dinner before making their way to the plane. Surprisingly, the guy letting people board let Sasha and Noel say goodbye to him at the foot of the plane. The whole way to the plane Noel was shaking, a lot. She kept close to Zayn, huddled against his warm body. Each step was another step closer to him leaving forever.

They were standing at the door of the plane within a heartbeat.

“Keep it moving!” The pilot shouted. Zayn grasped Noel hands. She was crying, getting stares from others. Sasha watched, a sad look on her face, and the pilot backed away.

“I guess this is goodbye,” Zayn said quietly. His deep, chocolate eyes looked into Noel’s as if he was seeing all the memories flash by.

“Zayn, I’ll miss you. I love you.”

“I love you too, Noel.”

And then they were kissing, just like old times. The kiss was short, and over soon, and then Zayn was leaving. He waved once, and soon the swarm of people engulfed him, leaving Noel alone.

That was the last kiss they ever shared.

So, that was the end of this fanfic! This was an amazing experience to write, and I'd say, I got better at writing along the way. Thank you all for reading. I would really really really appreciate comments and critique, so... yeah. :) I'll be taking a break from writing for like a month, but, here's a hint. My next fanfic is about Larry Stylinson. :)
